I'm not sure why developers think adding any old music in a game and having it play throughout — at an obnoxiously high volume — is a good idea. How many films or television shows do you know that blare music constantly and throw in whatever song wherever they can? Music should be subtle and compliment a scene. Except for occasionally at an intimate scene, the music doesn't fit the tone in the game half the time. Happy, chipper music is not fitting for: reflecting on past abuse; a dinner where you break off a relationship; talking about someone cheating on you; or any other dramatic, important scene. You might as well have no music than this stuff that's the opposite of the feeling of a scene. There's a reason I usually mute music volume in games....
