Considering the typical story structure - Chapter 5 falls right at the halfway point - where everything is terrible.

Following that, the baddies (characters/situations/whatever the outside force is) start closing in. (Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse, it does.)

Then comes the "all is lost" moment, and the "dark night of the soul." Everything the hero has/knows no longer has any meaning or use. It's the "why hast thou forsaken me?" moment of the arc.

It's only after all hope is lost that the hero can come back and use the lessons learned along the way to stop the baddies/solve the problem/shag the landlady and roommates in a massive orgy - and then the closing scene, and... credits.

No no, not the fight. That's rather fun really. :)

It's *whispers* the "other" scene.
Ah yeah that is one scene I will unfortunately likely miss despite all your sacrifices.

Another one for Frap:

Too kind as always :)
But I'd be more worried about the things Chris will do to you in Four tbh. *still aches if the weather is damp*

Edit: I seriously am thinking about having to put a warning up for that scene.
Considering the warning, ofc do that if you think that gating is not enough. Then it is really peoples own choice if they think they can handle it and can't.

Oh there is. Totes!

If you play down the "slacker" route, you can just have a good light hearted time really. It's only if you start poking around or taking your mission seriously that it starts to get darker.

It's one of the things I'm most proud of tbh. That the whole feel of the game can vary hugely depending on player choice. A good example I suppose would be Chris and Sarah perhaps. Do one playthrough being all professional and spending as much time as possible with Chris and then do another spending as much time as possible with Sarah.

Obvs I can't make everything different, but hopefully there is sufficient that the feel of the game changes. Certainly this becomes more so as the game goes on.
I just want to expand on this a bit if I may before I turn in.

I often use the phrase "your game..." and I mean it. By this I want -your- experience of H5 to be what you want it to be as much as possible. So yes, you get your orders and yes, you fly on the Vanguard etc. Those plot beats can't be ignored. But I also want your experience of the game to be tailored to the type of game you want to play.

You want a light hearted romp with silly jokes? Please step this way....
You want a darker, serious, story where you may end up with blood on your hands? Ah, that will be this table over here...
You just want a pure romance story? Over here please....

All in the same game.

Hugely, stupidly ambitious I know. And yet it's plotted out, structured and just needs me and and the hamster to get our shit together and make the bloody pictures for it...

I think because it's interactive. My expectation is that the player will be doing what Chris says y'know *did!* so...I dunno. I might have Becca say something at the start.

And quite a few will actually play all three of those games and quite likely a few more if you succeed in your goal, simply because some days we are in for a silly romp and the other day a bit more serious or blood or romance thirsty:p So we feel sorry for the hamster but wish him to keep running. I know I know, i am a cold hearted basterd:p

You don't know how easily I can be set off... More waterworks than Annie splashing in a fountain... wait.
Oooh! Good thinking! It may refer to the Chapter!
The five best women?
well you should like this song in that case:p

Me too, though I feel for the swollen notty bits...
Oh no, are you suggesting that by the end of the story, we'll hopefully be departing Ophion with 5 heavy girls?
Shit, I was going to make that joke, now I have to go back and change it.
