Oh God. Tags.... where do I even start with this one?!

But thanks. Good idea. Probs not today however, if only as I'm absolutely knackered after the last week and I'd hate to write nonsense.
just get one of the slaves testers to write it for you. also again worth starting a social media thing for H5, the summertime saga subreddit has about 30k followers, im not sure if it runs a twitter or not. most of the posts will give a date on the "free" release as well as a link to the current free build and patreon. Sorry if i'm stating the obvious and again if you need any help let us know i guess.

It's obvious if you know it - I don't.

One of the probs of H5 being so big and complex, especially when you think it's just me, is that that side of the house, the comms and marketing side, often drifts purely due to time available. Now that is shooting myself in the foot I know and it's something I need to give a great deal of thought to once this bugger is set free (almost there thankfully!).

I know it's something most of my regulars are bothered about too.

Maybe some list of suitable subreddits...? I wouldn't know where to start...

Also, I think Notty has her hands full with managing the forum alone, so adding more and more social platforms to visit and keep track of could really impact whatever spare time she has left.

r/NSFWgaming and r/lewdgames both seem to have pretty big audiences, but there doesn't seem to be much interaction on them beyond people posting links of their games. So not sure how useful they'd be.

to be fair on this one if you trust a few of the beta testers you don't need a "notty" reddit account just a "h5" account that posts updates and teaser images, a lot of the posts just get "lurkers" who upvote but don't actually want an in depth interview with the dev ever single post so a lot of the posts the H5 account makes can just be fire and forget posts.

I suppose the most work would be the initial write up or blurb with the themes/tags genreal idea of the game but that can just be copy pasted every time a new release post gets made after the initial one.

Also yeah sorry /Lewdgames is the biggest subreddit afaik with 120k subscribers.

I do have one question regarding the marketing side of things. Maybe this has been discussed here before but I couldn't find anything related.

I agree with what the others above me said but have you thought about adding Heavy Five on Steam at some point? It's another platform that I believe can immensely boost the game's popularity. You are a great developer and the game is proof of that but in this business, setting some time aside in order to make sure that the game is noticed is necessary as well. I myself only found the game because Belle recommended it a few months back.

The first is just cluttered mess, the second one is at least somewhat organised, so maybe there... I don't know though, it doesn't look a place to advertise anything that isn't straight-up porn game aimed at quick gratification. :/ Doesn't look promising to me...

Thank you, that's kind of you to say so.

But Steam y'know that's not really something I'd thought of. Trouble is tho the game isn't complete. For sure, Chapters One to Three do, I suppose, make up "Book One" or "Season One" and they are pretty large with hours of play. But wouldn't the game have to be finished before I could do that?

Not exactly, Philly released as book one chapters 1 to 10. ViNovella (fetish locator) did week 1 and Droid also has book one releasing tomorrow. Can't remember how many chapters.

Not sure how you would go about packaging (if book one was 1 to 3) chapters 4 to 7.

No you could go through the Steam early access program, you have more than enough content to show that you're not making a quick snatch and grab play and you just add the new content and update the game people bought as you go. There's quite a few early access games on there, I think House party was one of the first adult SEA games. Steam will want a cut though, and i'm pretty sure it's close to 30%, but that could be 70% that you weren't getting anyway I guess?

to be fair before I found F95 /LewdGgames is where I found most of the games I'm interested in. There is A LOT of low quality games with people looking to make a quick quid or two but it's where I found about games like the Twist, Snow Daze, Harem Hotel and the Principle too.

r/lewdgames is actually an okay place. You can find games for "quick gratification" or games with story and build up.

Small 'games' of the first type appear more frequently, though. That caused the latter style of games to quickly move to the next page, and probably distorted your first take of the subreddit. But if you actually take the plunge and ask for recommendation, for instance, the subredditors will gladly point you to games of the latter type.

As others have said, Steam can be used to launch games, even those that aren't finished yet.

I've done a lot of research into this for reasons. ;)

You can post it on Steam as "Early Access".

Almost by definition, a Steam "Early Access" game is not yet complete, and is still a Work-in-Progress.

The benefit of Steam, aside from its market base, is that you can leverage Steam's infrastructure to distribute your game, and deliver updates transparently.

You can even use its built-in "cloud save sync" facility, if you choose to do so. Though that will involve a bit of coding.
