He made a glorious prologue, or something that truly made people fall in love with his work; He is still living for that glory and people hope/cravings about what else he could make.
Or maybe he just scratched a itch that not many games are managing and people still hope to have more;
Or last, but not least: Drama, yeah, drama; people enjoy drama and flaming, making noise just for fun; people will come back at it just to talk thrash about the dev not releasing its game and then vanishing away; they'll hibernate for a while, then remember the game and come back to talk thrash about it and the dev in a sort of a cycle.

I'm glad to see he's still chugging along with the giant, overambitious, frankly unnecessary overhaul to literally every facet of the game all in one update.
Perhaps he will actually finish before he keels over of old age and turns to dust.

dev started posting on itch aswell and apparently he is still working on the game and is convinced that he isnt scamming anyone ... after almost 1 year without any updates or news on patreon

I think people are giving this way to much attention it deserve; if it's scam, just let it slowly die into oblivion, and if he'll even release something that its is not like a 30h long chapter, then it is even pointless to even belive he'll do something good in the future.
Just keeping talking about it/him, even negatively will just keep the whole project/discussion alive, when it should simply "die"

It's just that I'm gonna howl with laughter if he is. It's fucking insane how anything with the words "revamp" "overhaul" "rebuild" have just become a dog whistle for "I'm scamming the shit out of you.".
Somehow every fucking porn game needs a COMPLETE rebuild after a few years of patreon. Real fucking interesting coincidence, that.

To be fair, every game does that. If you've ever worked on a AAA title before you know that the game's systems undergo revamps almost twice a year.
If you'd played this game you'd also realize that the prologue is about the size of a regular completed game on here.
While I agree Komi's taking fucking ages to do this and it's not really needed to go as hard as he is, this isn't a coincidence or a scam, this is expected game development, implemented with amateur aplomb... By an amateur. It should not be surprising.
No shit? Hell, maybe I should contact him. It'd be nice to shake the rust off my own gears with a project going somewhere besides nowhere.
If every single AAA dropped everything to revamp twice a year it would be in development hell for the rest of eternity or be DNF. There is no way in hell that is true and I doubt you worked in AAA, neither have I. You would literally get nothing done just remaking shit endlessly.

Is the prologue really that long? Are sure? It has been a while since I had played it.
And the quality of prologue was superb, nothing to say about it.
The major problem is that the dev is TROLLING himself.
If he would have said:
Ok boys, did you enjoy the game? Good? Nice! Let's wait 6 years for the next big release. He would have received probably less flame.
The "AHA! Wait, it is going to be ready this year! No next year? No this year, which is the next year of the last year! No wait... Probably is the next year of the next year"
This is why he is losing face.
Put yourself a damn schedule and then respect it, or you'll lose your reputation for it.
Plus, if he has REALLY worked on his game, I suppose he'll have something ready right?
What's the big deal if he had just packed up some hours of gameplay in small updates once in a while and let people see that he was doing something?
Now, the things are 2:
Or he is going like a train, doing what he wants and working on his project how he wants until it is ready.
Or it's scam.
There have been COUNTLESS projects that had the same fate, put on hold forever, hoping for who knows what kind of release that actually never came out or that happened to be extremely lacking and not worth the wait.
It has been five (5) years. The period where Komi was an amateur has long since passed.
I get it. He came up with an amazing premise which gathered tons of praise and fans wanting MOAR. I can see myself suffering some sort of paralysis, were I in his shoes, afraid that I'd butcher what made my work great. But after all these years of supposedly reworking mechanics in a koikatsu based VN we cannot consider him an amateur.

Technically it is not abandoned, I'll probably play the game myself in the future.
While the communicational aspect of the dev sucks, I have a strange feeling that he'll complete this game... no idea when between now and the next 10 years, but I have a strange feeling he'll actually will make it done. Could be wrong of course

If he is looking for help now this game is good as dead cuz he will just do a remake again, the game was slightly dead now it's just dead idk why you people even talk about this sht anymore, He milked enough he can just drop and start something new, truly sad.

Uh yeah I have a strange feeling it won't. Pretty sure the fact the dev has done fuck all for many years speaks for itself. Lazy people don't just suddenly get motivated one day, in my experience.
Dude a lot of us got our messages deleted or at the very least got bitched by all the fanboy window lickers back in the day, in this very thread. We just saw it for what it was a lot earlier.
Honestly, probably the biggest problem is that he seems to be trying to do things with Renpy that it wasn't designed for...like at all. He's laid out real big plans in the past for all kinds of mechanics, and that's probably where he's tripped himself up so much.
