I honestly think he doesn't start on a new update till like a month or 2 before (release) he realized he can't put off anymore work. Like, expectations were low...but damn it wasn't that low.

Time is nothing compared to something worthwhile. Scam is when people are fed shit for a long time, and in the end it turns out zilch !
Like many it starts good and the pace of work was decent in the beginning. Then money comes in and the dev realizes that the sooner they finish the sooner the money stops coming in (or at least the risk of it if they turn out to be a one-hit-wonder).
So they milk and you get an update like this last one that took a year to come out and was clearly made in about 10 days.
The dev always has some excuse for not working so unless you want to play the "I'll check back in 5 years" meta-game...I'd just tell you to pass.
Like other titles and devs on this route, nobody questions the render quality. It's everything else. It's why I checked-out on this and AWAM a long time ago as erotic stories and follow them purely for entertainment now. The entertainment of the title, as should be and once was the case? No. For the entertainment that is the development insanity.
They don't turn me on in the slightest now because I don't like being someone's bitch, lol. I can't fully enjoy a product made by a scam artist. If that also sounds like you, I'd say to avoid.
If that's not an issue for you (no judgement if so), go ahead. Just be prepared to finish the current work in about 20 minutes and then wait a year for every 3 minutes of story after that. You'll get a finished story by about...2044.
That is if the dev doesn't abandon it before hand and I'd bet a lot that he will. In fact, I stated a while back and still believe wholeheartedly that this is the last update it will ever get. I think this dec has already moved on and just wants the money that will still come from those hoping for more crumbs.

I hope you're just too young to realize that time is the only actual currency you have in life. Life is life. It's finite and you can't obtain more. Even as I type this and you read it we are spending the finite time we have, lol.
Time is nothing? No, time is everything. Ask a person with a terminal illness how valuable time is.
Your point has a generalized truth to it if you're talking about a truly great or meaningful work needing, like, 5 years to finish. Not some dumb porn game that a dev demands 20 years to make by dropping less than 300 renders per year, lol.

I think the update probably hasn't got enough content for the time it's taken to do it, and some scenes could actually have given more (both the train and the mayor office for example, not only in sexual terms but also as decisions). But still, with all this said, I do think the quality of what we got is very high, both in writing, in characters making sense and doing logical things and render quality (though animations are still a bit basic). But for all this time, the story didn't advance as much as it should. Anyway, time for a long hibernation until the next update then.
