The dialogue between the characters in this is very good indeed.

It’s quirky, funny and very sexy. :):coffee:

Have to join in the praise here. This is simply great writing, as well as extremely erotic! The dialogue and banter between the characters is fantastic and really enhances the sex scenes! Kudos to you, Inkalicious, Sir!

I get no such error even after using UnRen. Do you just copy in the new version and overwrite the old one? If so, then please clear the folder before unpacking, otherwise it's highly likely the game will be a buggy mess.

Additionally, it would help everyone who wants to troubleshoot if you told them when exactly you get the error. On startup? On a specific scene? Randomly?

Also, the best bet is to not use UnRen at all.
I can play the game, but if I use Unren I get the error on startup.

What are the alternatives to Unren for editing the game?

Sweet bejesus that was an awesome update! (FYI there are instances where the incest patch has holes with the sis calling mom megan instead, but not too often.)

They're intentional. She believes she's showing her maturity by using her mom's name. But she'll sometimes call her mom, either by accident, in times of high emotion or when she's wanting something.

FUCKKKK this is turning out to be AMAZING! Chapter 0 captivates with the humor. Chapter 1 or 2 where the sister opens up a bit kind of gets you in the feels. Chap 3 and 4 goes balls to the walls with sexy content. I am loving it.

I made the first review for this game on first release and participated in the discussion about a potential incest patch way back then. Of course this incredible VN is all the work of inkalicious but i can't help but feel a little bit proud of how this is turning out. All the generally positive reviews and comments are well deserved.

I really loved that long scene with sis on the rooftop. This is how scenes should be in VNs. Drawn out with lots of dialogue. Many devs think animations are the shit, but they couldn't be more wrong. They make some 4k animation that loops a 3 second clip with no dialogues and call it a day. Nonono... animations are worthless without sexy dialogue to back it up.

Can't wait for the next chapter. Love how the mom is developing :D.
Thanks for the help back then and sorry for the wait in the meantime. It'll be a long and sticky road, but we'll get there...

Think Breaking Bad. The weird foreboding opening shots. They're not the inspiration, but close to what I'm trying out.
One flash forward at the start of each Chapter. That's it.

I wanted to show you the things are coming your way. They were originally only content from the final Chapter or so, but I've added some more happier events.
They may also start to reflect your choices.

Yea, that's what I was referring to.
I guess it's probably going to feel weird and out of place until the project is completed and everything comes together.

I don't know. I'd personally remove them, as they don't seem to add anything substantive to the VN, however that could simply be due to me only being able to view it from an incomplete product, while you have a broader view of where you intend for things to go.

Ah, whatever. Just keep up the good work.

To change the dialogues, pictures, etc. I customise the game for me.
Tbf, if you are modifying the game then you are on your own. Additionally, if you do that, then fixing some identation shouldn't be much of an issue.

I finally came back after not reading since the first version, it is still just ok to me. I may be back in the future, I am just not that big on the character development.

This game is definitely one of my favourites. It's unfortunate that the updates aren't more frequent, but they're worth the wait.

No idea I'm afraid. I never edited it and that line has a comment, but no code, so it shouldn't even be showing an error.
This game uses a recent version of renpy (7.3.2.320) and unrpyc 1.0.15 generates invalid code when decompiling.

While waiting for a fix to unrpyc, you can manually fix screens.rpy by changing all instances of:

screen blah() tag menu:

to

screen blah():
....tag menu

The colon and indentation are important. The '.' denotes a space - so indent four spaces after the screen statement.

I didn't test the game beside loading it, so it's possible unrpyc broke more things. Might be a good opportunity to learn more about code - both renpy dot org and python dot org have good guides.

P.s. I played this a few versions back, and liked both the story and characters. Good potential - great job dev!

OK time to give this a try... Note my opinions are opinions and not everyone will agree with me and that's ok.

  • First off Love the concept, apocalypse as a setting where the supernatural are not sexual.
  • Also I LOVE that fact that there are different body sizes for the mother and daughter.
  • Saying that, the size of the daughters tits change sizes... Sometimes they are medium sized others they are HUGE.
  • Player named character. A warning sign of a generic, blank, hallow, shallow character.
  • Faceless main character. A warning sign of a generic, blank, hallow, shallow character. So people can imagine themselves as the character, While that isn't bad... I personally do not enjoy it.
  • So the plot is trying to give the main character some flavor, but the flavor is of a perv. While that isn't wrong, I personally don't like role playing an arrogant, pervy, and stupid character. Ohh and add pathetic to the list.
  • The writing seems to be proper grammar and syntax. Nice Job.
  • Saying that, the writing feels juvenile to me. Like this game is targeted at young boys who have never really interacted with women. Personally I like women to act like women... Same goes for the main character who doesn't act like a man either.
  • There feels like a lack of player agency. This feels like a story and not a game.
  • So the incest patch is that you are their brother/son. The writing for this doesn't feel natural. Mom wouldn't act like that to her son, sister wouldn't act that way to her brother. The son would act that way to either of them as well.
  • If the incest patch isnt installed, then the mom doesn't make any sense. If you are just a random dude boy that are grouping with them, then the usage of guilt wouldn't really mean as much. Also it treats you as a family, so without the patch this goes from dumb, to confusing and inconsistent.
  • 3 frame animations are disappointing. Use more stills or make fluid animations, but not cheap 3 frame animations.
  • Huge dick is see as worship worthy. You only see this in porn. Talk to a man with a huge dick, or a women who has taken one... I guess this is a porn game, but it's one thing to have exaggerated tits/dick and another to worship them in dialogue.

I don't want to be mean to the creator, but I'm disappointed. This is not a game, this is basically an almost linear visual novel. We dont get to choose anything. What happens If I don't want to fuck my mom... or my sisters? To bad, you HAVE to. Your actions have no consequences since you end up at the same spot no matter what you pick. Play good girl gone bad, and see how this type of game should be. Player chooses to be a creep or not. Player chooses who to fuck knowing that it will piss off the other person. Also the incest is not done well. There is no fixing this games problems anymore.

I can see people loving this game, but to me 2.5/5 which I will round up to a 3. Only play if you like incest and you don't mind people acting out of character.
Ok, I feel like this post is not gonna get a lot of support so I'll say I don't disagree with some of those points. In fact, I was thinking some things really made the game more depressing than hot at times, when I played the earlier version.

However, there are romance bits and I think the game can have some form of happy ending. Even if the main character is sort of unlikable. Or was, I'm waiting to know if the game gets "happier" or unfortunately it will be too upsetting to me. I also agree that non incest doesn't make a lot of sense.

Everything else I sort of don't agree though. I think the game's well written, interesting characters. Pretty hot scenes (even if the context isn't always ideal). The rest I either think is a good thing to me or don't mind. Can't really blame you, I guess I would prefer more choices over who I fuck and how nice/mean to them I can be. I don't think it makes the game bad though.

I honestly think this is a very good game, just not what I'm personally looking for, maybe. Hoping I find out I'm wrong eventually though. Still keeping it on my radar.
Obviously how much of a creation is a game and how much is a novel will vary, both by creator and creation. That said, the general feel of the game should clue you in to what to expect. I'm not disagreeing with anyone's points in particular; I'm just expressing an opinion of where it seems the disconnect may be coming from.

I realize that a visual novel is technically a game, but for the purposes of my comments here:
  • visual novel: a creation that is somewhere around 60%–80% novel and only 20%–40% game
  • game: any creation that is less than 60% novel, with the balance being a game
  • kinetic novel: a creation that is no more than 20% game, possibly having no gaming at all
So if a thread's description mentions important choices, don't expect a kinetic novel. If the description seems to indicate a lot of management mechanics (relationship levels, health, money, etc.), I would tend to think it was not a visual novel, either.

For instance, Lust Epidemic does not have the [VN] label; while there is definitely an overall story, there is way too much actual gaming (wandering, acquiring / finding items, following a series of steps, etc.) for it to really be considered a visual novel. Long Live the Princess is another great example. I think both of these games are great, but neither of them are really a visual novel. In fact, I believe there are several games on F95 that are mislabeled with [VN] when they shouldn't be. (Just my opinion, ofc.)

Conversely, creations like Yakuza Girls or Amore Tech have no or virtually no choices or resource management. IMO they are both solidly kinetic novels (I also believe Amore Tech should have the [VN] label removed since it doesn't have enough choice to really qualify as a virtual novel. Anyway, moving on.)

When there is a very heavily story-driven game, but choices are sprinkled throughout and/or there is a moderate (but not excessive) amount of micromanagement needed, it's probably a virtual novel.

So, in a situation like Kindread, I think a lot of the frustration some express may boil down to the fact that, while a visual novel is still technically a game, it's easy to forget the novel part of it. If there's not enough interaction, people tend to think of it as not being interactive enough, when it's really not supposed to be that much of a game.

When choices are made, so long as they have an impact (even if only eventually), it still feels like a game. But a visual novel is in reality supposed to feel more like something between a kinetic novel and a Choose Your Own Adventure book from days of yore. Based on the description of Kindread, I wouldn't expect that many gaming elements.
