The progress and guide mod has been updated to 0.18.0p1 (see the link in the OP).

I normally don't make a separate post mentioning when I make an update, but since there were some significant changes to how the mod works and there aren't that many people who closely read the mod's description (and even fewer who read the readme), I wanted to go to a little more effort.

Most importantly, I added keyboard shortcuts (see the readme), changed the game's quick menu, and added an options screen.

I also made it possible to disable event hints for people who just want to take advantage of the improved UI.

So given that there's a Kadrillionmilliontrillion lawyers on this thread (see what I did there? :geek:) has anyone else noticed the (what I presume is nearly total) rip off of this game, that Sensei Overnight is?

Or am I just horribly late to that particular party because I live under a rock?

I always find it weird that native english speakers have problems with pronouncing japanese names. Kind of annoys me for no reason.
???

Why would you assume that native English speakers can pronounce Japanese names? Would you assume that native English speakers can also pronounce Zulu or Tahitian names as well?? Cause it's a whole 'nother language??

They have similarities, but their tones couldn't be more different.

I agree on the tones. The format characters etc are extremely similar. The writing is not all that. I'm sure other games have done similar copycats, just the first one I have seen in a long time ( to be fair...I do live under a rock lol)

Funny thing — if I remember correctly, the dev of Sensei Overnight specifically mentions LiL as his inspiration.

And yeah, they are similar in style and setting and some of the characters are reminiscent for sure — but the actual stories are very different.

If there's another game with similar (or even close) level of writing as LiL, my head may explode.

Also what little free time i DO have.....poof, gone...

.....shit.

The second pronunciation is correct, the first would be spelled yuta or yuuta.

Milk is delicious and has many benefits from stronger bones to vitamins necessary for the human body. Are you convinced yet? :p

Right, open vowel sounds, so U is usually an OO sound. Also, don't be surprised if it actually does come up, this is Selebus we're talking about. It could be as minor as missing one scene from a wrong choice or as major as missing an entire answer to a puzzle and being stopped in our tracks.

Not every girl in the game is ready to go that far, it will come when they are ready within their story.
all good was just wondering why i couldn't unlock the lust lvls

I started playing this game from the beginning and checking the progress mod I now have every character on "Main story progress needed" apart from Ami (Maya progress needed, 31A 11L), Haruka (Bad Kitty, 13A 12L) and Sara (Medical Assistance, 14A 18L).
Nothing has changed from days 209 to 236, can someone tell me what I am missing please? I seem to be somewhere around version 9.0/10.0 in progress.

You might be missing a happy scence. If you check the wiki, it'll tell you the requirements of your next main story event if you search the name of it

Ok people that are much smarter than me, I need help. Last night I needed to reset my PC's hard drive. I saved all of my save files. When I reinstalled the game and pasted my save files into the save folder, I got only a few random recovered save files, and all of those from the beginning of the game. Any idea where I went wrong?

Edit: I copied all of my save files, everything in the save folder, and emailed it to myself. Then when I reinstalled the game, I downloaded my files and pasted them into the games save folder. Everything appears as it did before, but when I open the game and look at my save files, I have autosaves (first page and none that are actual recent autosaves) and I have quicksaves, but I have none of my numbered saves, those are all blank.

IIRC, he said that he wanted to make a game with the LiL premise but without the existential horror.

Maybe I'm misremembering, but I think that dev of Sensei Overnight did say at one point that LiL was an inspiration. I played it a bit, and you can definitely tell that he's trying to write with the same flair Selebus does, but it just come off as awkward and clumsy. If he keeps writing, he'll eventually find his own style, though.

...and are used to a language with minimal phonetic consistency.
That's a good way to put it.

I don't know, maybe because we brought up to look at the world through the prism of our native culture and language, so if I intuitively know how to pronounce japanese names most of the time, others must have know it too. And then I get unreasonably annoyed when people do have problems. The end.

TBH, I haven't seen any discussion of the game on this thread until you mentioned it, but the thread for that game mentions LiL quite a bit, as do some of the reviews.
Fault is mine- I dont haunt too many threads- just the handful of games i enjoy. I spotted the Sensei one on updates and it seemed to familiar. Tried it for about 20 minutes and saw all the similarities so figured I'd drop an ask
Seems like most the hardcore folks know the story pretty well- so my insinuation was way off base. Still surprised me- but hey I'll own it :)

Most of the people over there who seem to be really enjoying it like the fact that it has the things that initially drew them here, but without the things that pushed them away (the horror element, specifically). I'd much rather have that then people over here clamoring to have the horror dialed down, so it's kinda an everyone wins scenario. I also only gave it about 20 minutes, as I was hoping it'd give me something new to replace the horror, but didn't feel like I was gonna get that.

I don't think it's possible to stress enough how much illusion does not care about us sweaty gaijin. Particularly after the whole rapelay thing

Apart from that, copyright law is shit and people who engage with it professionally should be avoided like the closeted axe-murderers they are. So the idea of engaging with copyright in a different jurisdiction is fucking anathema.

Also, I have presented some utter bullshit to judges, but I'm not sure you could pay me enough to talk to a 60 year old about anime porn.

Although it is a niche, maybe I need to get the text-books out.
Pretty much, otherwise, again, why have they not taken action over the more than a decade we've been at this.

Wear the ahegao shirt into court for best impression in case you wanna talk about anime porn. You are gonna be the MVP.
Full ahegao outfit anyone?

Bluejay...

2nd playthrough, so i knew it was coming, but jesus. I think knowing it was coming made it worse...

I need a drink.

(Selebus this writing is godamn beautiful)
Knowing something is coming can cause you to anticipate and worry about it, stressing over it can then amplify its impact.

I always find it weird that native english speakers have problems with pronouncing japanese names. Kind of annoys me for no reason.
As a native English speaker myself, it's actually not that bad, the only thing to consider is the difference in how vowel sounds are pronounced and, if you take Japanese like you would Spanish in that specific aspect, you'll be fine from what I've been able to gather from my lessons.

Why would that be weird or annoying?
Sure the rules for Japanese pronunciation are simpler than English but if it's not something a person has ever run into why would you expect them to know about it? It's unlikely I would get the pronunciation of something like a German or Spanish name correct on the first try.
I'm not sure about weird, but it does get kind of annoying when I hear someone totally butcher a name or term in pronunciation. It makes me want to correct them so bad, and yes, I do it in English as well, just an urge really. It usually happens around vowel sounds or with what syllable the emphasis of a word is supposed to be on since vowels are pronounced differently in each language and the emphasis is NOT where most English speakers think it is when they say something.

Am i the only person that gets really creeped out by this game? It's not scary in the traditional sense, but i often find myself peeking through my hands when i feel like something "staticky" is gonna happen.

I feel like some of the general ambiguity/confusion also helps with the mood, the occasional dead stops in the music track, those moments when a character says something really odd/serious and the music just cuts off instantly, alongside all the weird visuals.

The last time Sensei harassed Miku and we had her nervous breakdown was genuinely frightening (especially if you play in the dead of night with only a tv turned on as background noise).

In fact, this may be the only game on here that i'd be totally fine with having the sex scenes just excised entirely, i basically just play this game for the mindscrew story and the atmosphere, and i suspect i'm not alone with this train of thought.
No, no you are not, and I literally fear nothing...in real life, this game is a different story. I honestly wasn't afraid with the Miku thing, I was too busy being pissed at player Sensei for going that route instead of waiting for her to actually be ready, which usually ends with the girl coming to him.

I would also be perfectly okay if Selebus decided to strip all sex scenes and mechanics, plus it would benefit the poor Android player base in that they would no longer have to go through the specific methods they have to now, at least for a little while.

all good was just wondering why i couldn't unlock the lust lvls
Can't unlock what doesn't exist, that's the short answer.

Most of the people over there who seem to be really enjoying it like the fact that it has the things that initially drew them here, but without the things that pushed them away (the horror element, specifically). Indeed, the 'if you don't like it, find something you do' line applies here and it looks like they have found that alternative. I play both since I treat all games as separate entities even if there is a connection somewhere and I do like this one better, but I don't necessarily have an opinion either way about the lack of horror. It works extremely well in this game and, even if Overnight is supposed to be inspired by this game, I'm not sure horror would even work well with the way it is now. The writing isn't as good and that might mean the game as it is now would not blend well with an added horror aspect, but it might. The reason it works so well here is because of the excellent writing, which is something that can be said of A LOT of this game, the writing is what makes it all work.
