720p is being short sited in creating the game.
Resolutions are getting higher and higher on PC's and as time progresses the images will get grainier and grainier until the game shows its age and people will no longer wish to play it.
A couple of years ago 4k 1920x3840 was the highest resolution possible for a VR headset and most graphics cards, but now the graphics cards and the VR headsets support 8k resolution and the older systems choke on those videos and can not play them at all.
And the video quality of those older videos which looked good with the older systems, now look grainy and nowhere near as realistic on the newer systems...
Basically game creators always need to build for the future technology, and not for the past.

I'm getting an exception when trying to load my last save into Day 11. The idea of having to do the entirety of Season 1 over isn't a happy one.

You don't, they are two separate games. You don't need your save file for anything.

That is insanely common with this game.
Save files rarely work from one release to the next.
I quit actually playing the game, because I got sick and tired of having to fast forward through earlier releases and re answering "ALL" of the questions, just to get back to where I was.
Maybe since it is a new season you won't need to use the save file. The download is way too small to have all of the old content in it.

The saves worked for the last few releases of season 1. And season 2 is a completely new game so you don't need them

But honestly could we get some sort of pinned post explaining that Season 1 & Season 2 are two separate games with different saves.
S1 saves will not be needed nor will work with S2
Season 2 has just launched and yes it is a small update therefore it shouldn't take long to establish a new save for future updates, the developer has already specified that the save issue that plagued S1 will not be a recurring issue in S2 due to the improvements he has made to the UI & game directory.

Season 1 saves are not needed for Season 2. Season 2 is a completely separate game.
