@Belle
I actually promoted first on NSFWgaming and Lewdgames and was directed to here. I am in the exact same boat as you Belle. I have gone to a couple other forums to post updates and answer questions if they come up but for now my focus has been here. It's not to say those are not good communities but I only have so much time and I have been welcomed with open arms here. Keeping up with all the PR and marketing is not my thing. I just want to make the game :p
Yeah. My problem, though, is that the right kind of trigger can start me rambling like a madman about things I care about, so I can get a bit too wordy in these kinds of places for my own good. It's all fun though. :)

Hello there I have a question regarding patreonage, do the newer versions have a mac build as well? BTW you're onto something very good with this game. 3D graphics are hard to love in my opinion but you're doing a really great job here, plus the writing is full of humour.

Yeah it does have a mac version though untested. I tried his public release of 0.1.5 and it worked fine on my mac. I haven't tried 0.2 yet though.

I always publish a Mac version alongside the Windows version, though I do not have the hardware to test it myself. was kind enough to test it, as he mentioned above, and it looks to be okay.

That's the question, isn't it. When I started this project, I had no idea where to even begin promoting it. Patreon requires that you mark your project as adult if you make something like this. Any projects marked that way are not included in Patreon searches and aren't promoted by them in any way. That leaves it entirely up to the author to get some kind of exposure.

So far I've been posting on a variety of forums, but I've depended entirely on advice from kind strangers about which forums are worthwhile. This one I stumbled upon because it showed up in the Google search for my own game. At the time there was a lot of frustration and confusion in this thread because of a crash bug followed by me taking down the original download links while fixing it, so I jumped in to help clarify things. I ended up sticking around because this was the only place where people were actually talking about the game, and the community was welcoming.

Yesterday was the first day I promoted the game on Reddit, which gave me a nice upswing in new patrons. It's exhausting to promote in new places, so I try doing it in small doses. I'd rather just focus on creating the game. :)

You're not the only one wondering where the game ends. Rule of thumb: If you're grinding, you're probably done with the content. I'll look into being more informative about when you're out of content in the next version.
Dude. :D

Why on earth do you worry that it will not be included in Patreon searches in the first place?
Do you seriously believe people go to Patreon and start their search of what game to support? LOL

No, supporters mostly come from forums and sites like this one.
If the people really like what you are trying to do with your game, they will drop you a penny.
Simple as that.

Just promote your game on multiple sites for adult games.
Create nice banners, interact with people, explain your decisions and listen to their complaints/comments.

I know, It may seem like a lot of work.
In reality no more than 1 hour per day if you are organized.

Patreon has, like Kickstarter before it, a site that lets you browse available projects and creators. These are sorted by category. Adult content creators are barred from this system, leaving it impossible to find a creator from within Patreon's own infrastructure. No, I'm not talking about searches here. I'm talking about regular browsing. You say supporters mostly come from forums and sites like this (which is a forum, for the record). Well, no big surprise there when the alternative is closed to us. I know Kickstarter projects receive a lot of traffic from people browsing the site itself, and I doubt Patreon is any different. Imagine if Patreon had an adult section where you could browse new projects that might appeal to you. Right now, new projects fight a horrible uphill battle to get noticed, and there is little to no help to be gained except from word of mouth. If you're not already big, it's incredibly hard to get anywhere at all (but if you do get a foothold, word of mouth appears to keep you going).

Worst of all, if you don't frequent, or don't know about, forums with adult games, you're going to have a hard time finding anything in the first place. What would someone even search for on Google to find games like the ones in here? They'd be bombarded with flash sites and spam, and they risk turning away before ever discovering the proverbial gold mines out there. This is a problem. We, as adult game creators, have no official way to be discovered. It might not be a problem for you or me as gamers since we already know where to look at this point, but it's a problem for the John and Jane Does out there, and that turns into a big problem for your average game creator.

That's what I was referring to. A forum presence is nice, and pretty much essential, at this point. But the fact that it's our only way to be promoted right now is a real issue.

That links to a discussion on F95 , where a guy was floating the idea of an "Adult Patreon " of sorts, lots of Devs chipped in the conversation, but the practical difficulties were just insurmountable. Your best chance would be to persuade an established site, like PornHub, to pick up the idea. With the Patreon model, we're pretty much doomed to see a rampage of Eastern European Dev's , the only ones who could make a living out of the scraps Patreon throws at them. For a Western Dev, a few hundred Euros or Dollars just won't cut it, unless you're just doing it for the fun of it.

People looking for adult games DON'T start on Patreon.
They just, don't.

They search for adult game sites but mostly forums.
There they learn about various games.

Yeah places like here, go introduce your game to loverslab or chans I guess, see if you can get mentioned on lewdgamer or something just so you can up your internet presence.

Because yeah no one actually discovers adult stuff from patreon itself, if you do eventaully make a certain amount of revenue you should start showing up on graphtreon which will make it easier for random people to be able to just click to your page but until then..yeah gotta self promote.

Well, duh. There are no adult games to find on Patreon (unless you know the URL), so no big shock there.

Having in mind that you're embracing the new game+ as a vital aspect of the story, it would be nice if you decided to include a...

How interesting that you should mention Groundhog Day in relation to NG+ in my game... ;)

That could lead to some hilarious situations, such as losing on purpose just to see what the main character might say about his next approach with some characters or simply trying different paths in order to get the whole picture. HA! The fairy could even offer him some terrible advice, just to see the main character die several times. Of course they could argue about it after going back in time and he could think of several funny ways to get back at her.

This could be one of the only games where dying is not only encouraged because of the story, but also just for the fun of it.

Wow, the Patreon campaign just reached its first goal of $500. This weekend has been absolutely incredible. There's no doubt in my mind now that I'll bring this game all the way to the finish line. :)
Well the Belle character ingame is freaking hilarious.
Can't wait to see more of her. :D

No wonder people are flocking to this sub-forum (all the activity).

OW, BTW, make the Witch get angry for some reason and shrink the MC. Then have him have his way with the little Pixie just to shut her up. <-- This would be perfect punishment by the witch when Pixie gets on her nerves. Hahah Hmm, or a reward. She is kinda freaky.

I like the way you think, particularly since I think the same way. ;)

Yeah normally a game like this i would just drop. Lots and lots of dialogue and normally in this genre that is so bad but Belle has really great and entertaining dialogue, also when I saw the pixie in the screenshot I was had alarm bells go off in my head that this was going to be bad, I was wrong. The pixie is amazing. It just works. Not to mention I am so stealing his clues idea for my next game, which will probably be like in a year :p
