Words have definitions, not phrases. Further, words often have multiple definitions.

Millions play the game of Solitaire for fun. I'd rather chew on glass.

You don't get to define for anyone else what game they play, why the play it, or how they enjoy it.
1. he didn't presume to be the one to define it. he said society does and maybe the dictionary.
2. nowhere in the dictionary definition of game does it say "enjoyable to everyone". You hating solitaire does not make it "not a game"

1. Yes he did. He said "The purpose of playing and games is to stimulate the brain and develop skills while enjoying oneself, not to shut down one's brain completely. That's for blockbuster movies. "
2. My comment was in reply to his comment of "Game: a form of play or sport, especially a competitive one played according to rules and decided by skill, strength, or luck. And as for 'not stimulating your brain in any way'... death is the only way that happens. "
I stand by my original comment. No Poster has the right or authority to tell other players how they should play or enjoy the game.

They have a right and authority to tell you that you are misusing a word. with dictionary citations to prove that you are using that word wrong

You could just say "I used the wrong word. but my point is that I don't enjoy that game".

You're half-right. Some play pokemon to catch 'em all, others for the classic gameplay that's easy on the brain, others prefer to go competitive, etc. But it doesn't change the fact that skill is involved either.

Anyway, we should probably stop debating semantics here. I'm curious as to how the new battle system will turn out.

Mayor NPC update due out tomorrow in the first Alpha release of 0.8.1.1. Better balanced Affection/Happiness gains including additional options. Now your followers can actually aid you combat, which also raises Affection.

Here's some (ITCH) about the latest Alpha - with screenshots.

The Alpha (A2) was released earlier today and is considered a relatively stable version of 0.8.1.1, which makes some fundamental changes to the core game - especially MoR's combat system.

I don't know if it's the case yet with the new system, but will there be a way to eventually convince mercs to join permanently join your household? For instance, convince Loren to join then wife her up. Or the Black Guard who'd become part of your very own house security personnel.

No you are not doing wrong, and its fun to play, i have never understood meaning of Grindy.
The term grindy means that the game has a lot of play time devoted to grinding. Grinding in turn is gameplay that does not actually provide significant enjoyment or accomplishment but exists merely to pad out time. It's effectively the gameplay equivalent of doing chores.

Say you have a game like this about running a household. An interesting scene every morning at breakfast would be considered good gameplay. Having to click through several menus every morning in order to go through the exact same formulaic minigame to prepare said breakfast would be considered grinding. Because it's not fun, it's just filler that eats up your time.

And this game has a lot of that. The girls relationships constantly need upkeep so that you are spending most of your time just making sure things don't tick down as opposed to actually playing the game to unlock new content.

I mean, mechanically speaking it's clear that this game was designed with the intent that you would pick up to 2 girls and no more and stick with them. Either that or that you'd sell them once you get bored of them and buy replacements. And the mechanics work for that. When you have only two girls to manage you can still manage their needs and play.

But at some point it transitioned into a sort of harem format and the current mechanics just don't work for that. The game really needs a good rebalance at this point if things are going to continue down this path.

Well playing as harem is not main goal, it all depends how player wishes to play. You can still have 1-2 girls. Or you can play as house lord who has wife, and soldiers and it dosent take alot of interactions to keep them loyal. 1-2 interactions in game week.

I have my second game trought, and first gameplay i played in game time 14 years. This ongoing game i have passed 800 days. And i dont feel like grinding just managing the household. Its adult game it dosent need to be a porn game where the main goal is fuck around. And maybe you prefer porn games and in this case it might be wrong game for you. But for me this game is like breathing fresh air, couse most games are just pure degenerate porn.

I have problems starting the party quests of Michelle and Lovisa. The willpower of both is in the negative range, and their affection is "undying". They've been in my household for months. I know there is a random factor, but I've invited both to casual dinners repeatedly without any luck. Are there any additional requirements that aren't mentioned in the Wiki article? I hadn't any problem starting "Tales from Redhaven".

I seem to have lost the ability to host Pen and Paper RPG nights. Is there a limitt o how often I can do this? Or did I bungle my GMing roll and miss the text explaining it?

I'd quite like to get it back if I could. I was quite enjoying hosting a once-a-week D&D session.

Some scripted quest might do just that. Reaching certain Affection levels can also lower their salaries and improve other factors that'll make dismissing them a foolish action. The storage factor is no longer an issue as there's no cap on how many NPCs you can hire.

The first D&D night is limited to 5 sessions. More are in the works, however (community creations). You'll be able to purchase them at the book store in a not-too-far-away update.

With the aid of your wife and NPCs, players who don't like to micromanage can skip that part and focus on adventures, combat, sex or whatever rouse his spirits. Tending to eight slaves alone is meant to be an extremely tedious task that'll demand your full focus - if you want all eight of them to walk around as willing cum-dumpsters.
