Let's be honest. Who looks at their "bank statement" anymore? We all just go online and check our balance. As long as there is money there we go on. Only if there is a major problem do we begin looking as to why. 1-5 dollars isn't going to be a major problem.

They aren't going to do it but. Patreon should should contact supporters of games like this and ask if they still want to be a supporter.
I get what you are saying, and I agree. But, that is not in Patreon's best interest as they would lose revenue.
I wish there was some sort of law or something that you as a consumer would have to confirm a recurring subscription every XX months.

Moreover, if the person doing a fan mod doesn’t make any money off it, they’re in the clear. If I had any skill in art/programming I’d do it myself.
This is a very common misconception, and its dangerous advice to follow. Just because something is fan-made or non-profit does not mean it is exempt from copyright law or the penalties that can follow ( ). There are countless examples of fan mods using copyrighted characters or stories that were hit with Cease and Desists, even if the assets were entirely made by the modders themselves. Most large modding projects that touch on copyrighted works, like Skywind or Black Mesa, exist because of an explicit or implied licensing agreement with the copyright holder, and most smaller ones are still around only because they're too small or niche to attract attention. Fair Use is a legal doctrine, not a magic shield, and its application is subject to a judge's interpretation of the relevant statutes and case law. Unless you're a lawyer or you have one on retainer, I recommend staying as far away from it as possible.

Honestly, if someone has the technical chops to recreate Milfy City they should just do a cheap knockoff instead. The story is derivative as hell, the characters are all morphs of commercially-available models, and the game engine is free to use. Call it "MILFtown, USA", about a nameless generic midget MC and his sexual misadventures with his "landlady" Glinda, his "roommates" Coraline and Clara, and the various teachers/classmates/transients he runs across. Morph the same models slightly differently, use the same off-the-shelf environments rendered at different angles and settings, and hire some hack romance novelist to write a lame plot to string it all together. Voila, new IP.

If you are a hot looking dominatrix, you get a key.

Otherwise, you can get his car key, key opens car, car has a book, book belongs to the shelf in his office which accidentally opens chamber. IF i remember correctly.
It seems pointless. I can't find a reason to go in there again.

It's been abandoned technically for more than a year now, since .6e, and I don't count that bullshit update we had back in July either, which was completely forced because of said tag.

We'd still be on .6e still and mayhap this thread might've been done for.
This thread will never get the abandoned tag again, because if it does he will actually have to do some work even if it's just to release some bullshit update with a couple of minutes of gameplay. He will continue to make pointless status updates on patreon every 2 months and thats it.

The worrying part is this was arguably the biggest adult game around about 2 years ago.

If he'd kept on top of it he'd practically have set himself up for life.

I get that he's still earning quite a bit now but it isn't going to last. Sooner or later even the most die hard of those easily parted with their money will have a wake up call.

He's setting himself up for a fall because once he loses what he has it will be incredibly hard for him to build back up again when no one trusts him at all.

To be honest, if he'd kept on top of the content he could probably have finished it by now and could have moved on or taken a break without anyone giving a shit.
He has set himself up for life. He’s made well over 2 million and can easily live off the returns if he invests it.

Any competent dev who can remake this game? Maybe change their faces jusst a little bit, change their names, the house, but keep the story and everything else. Wouldn't be the first time anyway

However this dev is still making a lot of money off this so if anyone tries to use the story or anything he can remotely claim in court he will.

Untill this game dies it will be practically untouchable by another dev.

Icstory WILL fight while he's making a living off it.

I’m of no mood to multi-quote/reply right now as the messages go back quite a ways. As many others have pointed out, virtually nothing about Icstor’s work is original IP. So much “pirated” content, he wouldn’t have a leg to stand on in an official court setting, and would likely get prosecuted/sued himself.

Furthermore, anyone with half a brain wouldn’t be continuing the dev of this game under their own name or local IP/ISP. You spoof your location with a VPN, or just happen to already be in a country that doesn’t give a flying fuck about the copyright laws of the US or wherever Icstor is posting/hosting from (heads up, copyright laws and patents for the most part aren’t some internationally binding commandment). You host/post the new game from some non-extradition country with a spoofed IP for free on a website like this and you’re free and clear. You won’t be able to claim credit or make money off of it, but the game will be finished and the masses will be pleased.

The sad part is that when this thing was first tagged as abandoned the mods made it sound like they were going to be tougher on Milfy City than most games... and then proceeded to be more lenient on it.

They are just applying the rules, the abandoned tag is for when a dev doesn't show any sign of life for 3 months. As long as Icstor keeps making his "status updates" on patreon they will not add that tag.

Perhaps, but the rule needs to be amended. Some projects, like Milfy City, rarely update and in the case of Milfy City it's pretty damned obvious that no work is being done. There needs to be something in place to combat that as you see this topic getting plenty of activity, you don't read the last page, you probably don't check that the last update was six months ago, and then you download it and maybe your dumb ass decides to throw icstor a few bucks a month. You get no updates, forget about it, and by the time you actually look at your credit card statement it's been like four years, you've paid him hundreds of dollars, and in the interim he's onto a new project after his current "new project" and it hasn't seen even a single release. The "abandoned" tag requiring three months before it gets added is tantamount to assisting icstor's unscrupulous business practices and it's not like f95 is getting a kick back as far as we're aware. Either they need to update the rule so that the developer updates need to show actual working has been done, or they need to add an exception after a lot of missed release dates and an extended lack of releases, because as it is it's an easily exploitable system.

Maybe it’s my tea doing the work, but maybe his patreon numbers are fake.

In London we have a popular/famous shopping street called Oxford Street - it’s gone downhill now from what it was, with random stores now selling the same random souvenirs. Everyone questions how these stores stay alive especially since the rent for a store in such a famous area must be crazy. The common view is these stores must be doing illegal activity in the background, maybe a front for drugs or even money laundering.
For Icstor, maybe his patreon supporters act as a money laundering layering front, with multiple users to redirect funds. Maybe we need to get OFAC on his ass lol

but mayb his patreon numbers are fake.
His goal numbers are certainly are :sneaky: Not that they are fake. Its just he keeps raising the bar. You see, now it stands on 62%. It was fulfilled once upon a time. For a short time, before he noticed it was reached. Then it immediately sunk back to 82. Now its 62%.
