Basically all the guys in the starting area somehow woke up in that area and don't know how they got that there. None of the locals know them. I think it's also implied that all the men woke up in that house too.
You're shitting on him, but all the things you point to as examples of bad writing are things that have definitive answers to them in-game. You either just didn't remember them or didn't pay attention.
And even putting that aside, acting like the writing's bad because you don't get all the answers in a very brief demo is ridiculous.
No. The reason it's significant and they address it is because the mc has the scents of other girls on him, even before he hooks up with the Imp and Werecat. Of course he has those two on him since they hooked up, the reason they point it out is because they still felt it was okay to claim him themselves despite him already being marked, which isn't how it works in this setting. It's the game pointing out that somehow you're going to be able to form a harem despite the MGE-verse basically being monogamy-exclusive.
It's not abandoned, f95 just has a dumb system that automatically decided it is. KC's been working on this game for years and I doubt he'll ever really drop it since it's his passion project.god dammit why did this have to be abandoned

That said, yes. the unique thing about our MC in this game is that he has the smell of someone who is claimed by a monster, yet hasn't had sex with any monster at the start of the game, only a bit of fondling from the Lillim. i mean, just walk up to the succubus thats looking around at the town square, if you take her offer, she says she'd love to, but you seem to be claimed already.

They're actively asking people about you, but I agree.
Since the protagonist is a silent protagonist, we can't clearly feel the distance between them.
I'm gonna go off the strong assumption they're your friends though, since it's hinted that you're gonna go try to find them as your first goal.
Then they would all be living there together, and yet only the MC uses it as his base. In fact when you buy the mana equipment, it's said it's for your home which the MC just casually claims then?
It's more implied that they just woke up in that part of the demon world. Not specifically that house, which is why most of them live in the Inn.
I wasn't responding to any statements about significance, but just clarifying on the direct fact of him having multiple monster girl scents on him by that point in the story.
Yes, this is my experience with anything he writes.
Everything exists in a nebulous state so that it could be pleasing to anyone's fantasies, but because of that there are no definitive answers when it comes to anything.
Like... what happens if an evil man decides to rape one of the weaker monster girls. It's said that "most" humans can't be "most" monster girls, but Dragon's mating ritual is predicated on her getting her ass beat by a powerful man. With the existence of Heroes we know full well that powerful individuals exist in that world too. If you had like a bandit king go rape a werebat or something, would the werebat fall in love. Could he then create an army of loyal monster girls to then take down stronger monster girls.
Questions like that can't really get answered by the setting because it hyper relies on the men being decent, or if not that, monstergirls being able to turn their men decent.
Or if you read Fallen Maidens, you'd see how crazy some of the developments in that setting are.
If you think about his writing too deeply it breaks down.
The nebulous aura around the monster girl descriptions meaning any girl can have any personality and any disposition if you want means it's kinda moot to talk about favorites in terms of personality affinities too.

I'm saying all this as a fan of the series btw, cause I see the appeal in the concept. It's kind of a way I try to help newbies trying to enjoy the media more accurately step back from delving too deep into it. Because I don't think it's meant to be consumed on that level.
I've said this before in this thread I think but the best way I can describe it is that I think he kinda does wants you to take the work seriously as a setting. But at the same time most of the stuff he writes is written in a way were if you don't read it with the expectation that it's a fetish work meant to appeal to those specific fetishes then you'll run into issues with how the world is described to us. Like for example if a monster has the ability to mind control you aren't really meant to think about how she could abuse that, as it's just meant to be a monster girl to appeal to people with a mind control fetish and you have to assume it's always consensual.

my understanding is that its writen that way so its more of a framework the reader would fill in with their own head canon which both elevates and increases enjoyment of the world. though since its one guy writing this its probs just didn't get there and or it doesn't really matter, either way it works out in the setting as the unknown is great for engagement and what people think it works like
Besides the Bicorn who will actively look to make it so her husband gets a harem (btw, Bicorns can be born from other Bicorns, so not all are the result of having sex with a man who had had sex with another monster girl), there's also special cases, like in the fallen maidens, where the guy had multiple human girls interested in him, and when the girls were monsterized, they all became his wives. There's also that text in the houri entry, about a saint having over 70 houri wives. Khepri monster girls tend to form harems around their husband, as Khepri work better in groups, to serve him, and create a plane for him. Werewolves also tend to work in packs, and can get a husband integrated into their pack. Husbands of Nurarihyons who become incubi can also gain a certain "charm" which will seduce other yokai-type monster girls. Harems could maybe even reach the triple digits, for special enough individuals.

The name Balrog is not copyrighted, simply put. There's multiple games that use it as a name for characters or bosses without any issue. Even a region on Pluto is named Balrog.

1. MGERPG is not canon to the main MGE timeline / universe.
2. The encyclopedia is not completely correct about details.
There's some monsters such as the sandworm or even the alraune, since the MC would get captured and trapped, causing a game over, causing the story to get stuck. So I just suspend disbelief and assume MGERPG doesn't completely play by the rules, and also that a lot of the MGE pages contain hyperbolic information.

That's why I say not to think too much about it, or else it'll break down. I don't think KC wants his fans to think that deeply on his work.
There are ways in the setting to deal with those (apart from actual fate-manipulation/reality-manipulation from our future lilim waifu). For example, if our MC gets their hands on some raging mushrooms, his mana will temporarily weaken those monster girls while they fuck, and lets him dominate them. Those MGs are able to walk normally by using magic, if they have enough mana, which as they're getting a supply from an incubus who has multiple wives (so, he'd be pretty overloaded), they would be easily able to walk on land just fine.
Even abyssal MGs could be covered in setting, with everything we've read now about the setting.

Number 2 is the correct answer, from what i've heard, kenko apparently said himself that the encyclopedia is written from the perspective of a wandering scholar and that guy tends to misinterpret certain aspects of the girls, which is a handy way to retcon and handwave new and old facts about the girls. so if anything doesn't make sense we can just assume that dude made a mistake and we can headcanon something in.
either way, MGE is not some deeply written lore where every fact got its own bible down to the last detail. for me its a simple sexual escapist fantasy for dudes who just want to have a loving, but horny, wife with some funny side-effect. i just take the things at face-value and don't ask. the girls have some 6th sense that tells them which guy is the one for her? welp. i guess they can.
despite that, i still want to learn about the world and how life there is, just so i can daydream more about what life there would be like for me.
Damn, nearly 2 and a half years later and still no word on any update for the game. I know KC gets pretty autistic about his content and tries doing unreasonable amount of work (I Remember seeing a screenshot he posted of a single MGERPG girl with nearly 60 unique drawings) and I definitely know he sometimes gets into funks when he sees something that upsets him (Just a month ago or so, he unfollowed 99% of the people he followed because one person he did follow posted/retweeted NTR) but it saddens me not seeing any update.
