Which cheapens the incest plot. Her being MC's mother absolutely should not be ambiguous, your mother isn't an ambiguous person and it cheapens their relationship for her to be written as such.
It doesn't because she's never really shown as a typical mother, as for the better part of the story she maintains a distance (both physical and emotional) from both the MC and Sky. That is shown (as opposed to "told") through her dialog and actions (which is a mark of good writing). Making the very few lines that set their relations in stone ambiguous would not cheapen any kind of plot in any way. Just set Klara as mother and done, nothing in the player's perception of the characters within the story would change.
Besides, the narrative itself visually flirts with the idea of them not being blood-related. Compare how Aine, Freya and Hera look like, and then compare the visuals of Klara, Sky and the MC. In fact, the only character that looks to be blood-related to Klara is Kana.
In the end, the main issue was that the player is given a choice at the beginning. That choice translates into a limited power of the narrative. But that power is then taken away completely on account of the Hera scene. That is what actually cheapens a plot. In fact, it cheapens every single plot that isn't straight up blood-related incest.
Assuming incest was always the intended canon, then it would've been much cleaner to simply not give a player a choice at all in that case. I wouldn't have had any issue with it if that was so. But because my preferred choice created plot-holes, it then became a problem. So the keyword boils down to choice and power, and having the first be irrelevant while taking back the second after it was given at the beginning.
Anyhow, that's my feedback for the game on the topic. I hope the devs see the posts and take them into consideration.

Because the choice is never a choice, particularly in the case of a fill in the blank relation like this one. It's the illusion of choice to get around Patreon's draconian rules.
Red hair is a recessive trait. Unless Jovian had red hair the absolute highest possibility of either of Klara's children having it would be 50%, assuming Jovian even had a single red hair gene to pass on. Besides that it's honey select, everyone looks like they could be related.
If it was changed so that nothing in the player's perception would change with her being the mother, then that cheapens their relation. You're completely ignoring the dynamics that make incest alluring in your analysis by prioritizing your dislike of the dynamic over the taboo dynamic from their blood relation, which needs to be relevant within the script to be meaningful. Just calling some random woman the MC hasn't seen in years mother without actually treating her like one and acknowledging the taboo nature of their relationship cheapens any incest plot. Your perception is being clouded by your dislike of incest, your change would reduce the incest down to some pointless piece of dialogue and effectively eliminate any narrative taboo of sleeping with your own mother beyond simply calling her mom.

I used the WT mod and it works perfectly... I'm pretty sure you fucked up somewhere...Hmm...all the hours of play...(sigh) Well I'm not sure if the walk through mod gimped my game, but there are a lot of scenes that I don't get to see after following it until the end of the latest update. I thought this is a harem story, and using the mod would make it easier to get all the scenes available, but it seems that is not the case for me. Fuck!

The above list is what my play through has unlocked within the scene section, while using the walk through mod. And I found it odd with some of the girls had no intimacy with them at all. But I played through, and while using the 0x52_URM tool I noticed I was seeing failed requirement checks like in this image.
Now I'm not sure if this was caused by the wt mod, but so many hours of play with it seems with bad results, as I was playing to build a harem path.

Since I've not played this one I guess I'm one of the newbies mentioned, but after reading this I'm very interested in trying it out. While lewd scenes are great, I really get into stories and characters. Your review sounds like it's right up my alley so thank you for that.

Kinda piggybacking off of the quote but if you read my recent review on game, it's very similar experience. I gave up on the game first way around because I thought it was just going to be run of the mill HS game with goal of just getting to lewds. But after reading the reviews again, I went through again and oh boy did it hit hard. Without spoiling much, DONT give up until after ep 5 (something about Emma or angel episode) which gives background on Emma and MC. The plot just goes up from there and if you play Emma ending it's just so satisfying. I definitely got teary-eyed not just with this ending but if you pursue other characters like Sky, Gwen, or Aine they also have very touching relationship with MC which we get to witness. The developer did an awesome job with storytelling and really letting us relive what the MC went through in past with the characters. Hope you enjoy it

I gotta say, I really appreciate the dev's humor. There were so many times I found myself laughing out of nowhere, especially Shu, that poor dude, but he just tickles my funny bone. The later scenes with Klara as well, just outstanding. Can't wait for the rest of this one!

Not in MBML or Sicae at least, since all LIs have already been revealed.
Playing either first is fine. But Sicae is set 2 years prior to MBML and MBML contains some things from Sicae, which some considers spoilers.
