Your comment about the beauty of the slow burn story reminds me of something I saw on another thread. A user, who seemed to consider himself the ultimate arbitrator on what games are good or not, was complaining about games like The DeLuca Family (I expect he doesn't even know Killer7's games exist), saying it is a game that has likes in excess of it's quality. He claimed that games that put an emphasis on story over sex (i.e. romantic, slow burn stories) are primarily popular with teenagers.
When I offered my experience, he selectively quoted me so it looked like I agreed with him. I think he was claiming that "most straight guys" ("real men?") only play female protagonist games with the goal of turning her into a cumdumpster. If loving MNF & MNM means I'm not "most straight guys," I'm completely OK with that.
Oh trust me, Mike will get what he deserves in My New Memories. He will not end up like Martin in MNF. If he is behind this attack on MC then I'm sure there will be consequences.

I'd rather play a slow burn with a great story and good sex scenes, hell LoML is one of my favorites and I can't wait to see that slow burn pay off. I can watch porn and get off without the hassle of clicking or tapping enter if I just wanted to beat my meat. I've definitely offered the same perspective on porn vs AVNs. Between you and JonTommy, you've named some of my favorite games which are slow burn.
I entered adulthood in the 1970s, so my first experience was with cinematic porn. The plots were often weak, but they usually made the effort. There were a few stand outs then too.

Yeah, between the two of you, we've now referenced my top games that are slow burn. Regarding Naughty Road and LoML, I must admit it gives me a satisfied feeling when I see NR on Killer7's discord and visa versa. Two very wholesome developers!
I definitely know that reservation. I want a game where you root for the female protagonist, not contribute to her downfall. Otherwise, it's just a "meta mind control corruption" game. More like playing with a doll than playing a character. IMHO, of course.
The fact that he is has a strong feminine side and his co-developer is female helps. I can't think of another female protagonist game that is really inspiring me. I have a couple of others, but they haven't grabbed me like Killer7's, NR's, and Hope's games have.

yeah, but the MC didn't know he was a good guy before the accident. Because, you know, he forgot pretty much everything about his life.
I have played games with a moderate level of corruption, mind control, or manipulation, because I hoped the rest of the story was worth it. Often it is a case where the developer merely used it as a way to open the door to the story, but after that, things became more positive. There have been some rather "hardcore" manipulation stories (where manipulation/humiliation was the whole point of the game) that I just walked away from.
I suspect that the user was trying to justify his preferences as the more mature, more "normal" approach. I suspect we'll find a lot of "not like most straight guys" in Killer7's fan community. That's one reason I like it here!
