He writes poems at every single folder he creates... that's why
seriously for having this kind of issue he must have more than 255 characters counting all paths from root... really?
I can understand strange characters like japanese/chinese ones... but other than that is hard to have such problem...
I have run into that issue before, with the path name being too long, especially with manga or images with a lot of characters, I like to organize things with folders and sub folders, and I collect a lot of crap, still have almost every version of this one...

It's pretty easy to do when extracting things, or using a downloader to rip sites.
Actually it wasn't modified, and I found the problem, I had it under several layers of folders within each other, I moved it up to the main folder and voila it worked - but thanks for the response
Glad to see you got it worked out though. (y)

Haven't almost all of us done something like that at certain age?
I did pretty much the same at the time: shoved my mags under a stack of tech magazines for example. No one (around here) had personal computers at the time, Internet didn't exist yet. :HideThePain: Tough times.

Some days, I have to hide it from myself, just to get some work done ...wait, what?

To be fair, we had that issue at my job. When my team was moved to a different department we already had a 100 or so bytes spent on the department root directory. My team name now has 22 letters. (It was a 2 letter abbreviation before.) We have a couple more folders down depending on where you are, file names may include - next to the actual file name - date of validity of included data, last person to work on the file (only a two letter abbreviation with an underscore to set it apart, but by now even 3 letters may count). When migrating our new data to the new folder structure we had to rename a couple.

Privately though, even with my worst files (mp3s including a longer name of singer/band and a longer title) I am probably still some way off.

Shit, that brings back memories.
Absolutely ages of that, only to find the volume was out slightly & it would fail.
Have to rewind the tape & start all over again.:ROFLMAO:

On work is another environment, also on mine we have this kind of problem, mostly because of software developers...
but on a personal computer at home it is really hard to reach that limitation

I don't know if it's difficult, but it would be nice if there was a translation of a part of the day (morning, noon, evening, night)

Ok that's the problem, we have found that the plugin used inside the game isn't compatible with videos and Windows 8.
Probably next release will have an updated plugin that will fix this issue, but for the moment you have to wait for next release or go to game settings and uncheck play videos, otherwise the game will freeze.

In fact, I do remember :HideThePain:
I still have my Spectrum and tapes somewhere. I doubt I can find a working player for the tapes, though. Recordings are probably faded by now, too.
I've even tried to play old Spectrum games on both my PC and my phone. Emulators are pretty great and compared to the original hardware, lightning fast. Most popular Spectrum games can still probably be downloaded from somewhere.

Sorry, but I have to ask: How?
Personally, I have a folder titled Games.
I store my games there.
When I've finished a game, for RenPy I delete everything except for the game\saves folder.
For this game, I can delete everything except for the profile folder.
When a new version comes out, I download the zipped archive & then just right click and Extract here.
Then copy the saves folder from the old version's folder, to the new one's.
Then delete the (now empty) old one, completely.

How did you end up with the game being multiple layers of folder deep?
I honestly do not understand how this is possible, without choosing to.
Even then, where do all the other sub-folders appear from?
I have a separate drive for all test games, in this I have three folders, one for testing, one for completed that I wish to play again sometime and one for ongoing but good.
under the test games I unzip the new games, and they always create 2 sub-folders - for Mystwood I move these to the ongoing sub-folder and under another folder called Mystwood Manor which is under a Novel-M sub folder. If I forget to place the say version 5.0 folder directly under this folder and it has created 2 levels it is now 6 layers down I have to remember to raise it to be just under the Mystwood Manor sub-folder and everything works fine (I know it sounds complicated but I like to keep everything organized)
