As recently as 2007, the Dodge Charger R/T had timing belts. The one the MC is driving is considerably older than that (I would put it in the 60s or 70s). So the car having a timing belt go is not at all implausible.
It's completely implausible, honestly. No engine offered in the 1969 Charger had a timing belt. No engine Mopar even MADE in 1969 had a timing belt. The current gen Hemis are all chain driven as well. My 4.7 in my Jeep from 1999 has a chain. I could be wrong- as I often am- but as far as I know the only engines produced by Chrysler with a timing belt are/were I4 and V6 configurations.

Does it matter to the gameplay one tiny bit? Nope. But, he did go to the trouble of noting it's a 1969 Charger with a V8. I doubt it's a 318, so that leaves the 383, 426 Hemi, or 440. It's definitely a chain in any of those. :)

Being pedantic is a curse.

Yeah the dev royally fucked up there it shows he knows nothing about the vehicle he chose to use as well as possible reason for the car to quit working as I drove my old jeep with a 318 for 5 years with a loose timing chain cause i was too lazy to fix it and just didnt care to. it still towed a trailer half way across the U.S. and was sold with said bad timing chain. it ran rough when you let off the gas then stepped on it but still ran. the one in my current jeep has 240,000 miles on it all original so the chain in that car that had been restored a few years prior to the infection break out would be like new and problem free for many many years. as normal process in a resto is starting with rebuilding or replacing the drivetrain first.

I hear you. But this is still one of the absolute highest-quality porn games I've ever seen. It's nothing a small rewrite can't fix.

Well, this is a stretch considering it's never mentioned but the charger could have it's engine replaced.

Blackout period over ... I can finally say - loved this chapter. Those that were flipping out about last chapter were greeted with lots of content this chapter (of story .. it was a long chapter).

If you have played it in the past, you can hold down control - and it will skip to the new stuff pretty quick. That is if you want to get to the new stuff in a hurry.

It's a 1969 Mopar V8. Every one of those engines had a timing chain as did the 6 cylinder engines of that period. Sorry implausible doesn't apply. Period. NO MOPAR ENGINE MADE IN 1969 had a timing belt. Get it? Historical fact.

not to mention most all chargers came with a 440 which was pretty much bullet proof. for those reading this when i say bullet proof it means you could beat the hell out of it and it would not die.

Yeah. 200,000+ miles with minimal maintenance. Same for the 383 or the 426 hemi. Those engines were pretty much indestructible. If the author needed to kill the car it should have hit an unseen rock or other obstacle that busted the oil pan. Lose all the oil in a matter of seconds and either you shut it down or the engine dies very quickly. Either way they can't fix it without parts.

Speaking about parts, ANY junk yard would provide parts for that engine. Hell most junk yards would have replacement engines. Hoses, belts, spark plugs, filters, fuses, gaskets, even water pumps, alternators, U-joints, brake parts, pretty much anything other than internal engine parts could be sourced at any dealer or reasonably large auto parts store.

So the author, needed to kill the car. It's dead. So be it. In his next VN he'll be more careful. It's all good.

People it is a used car that has more than half a century of age. Maybe the previous owner made their own changes to it over the years to keep the car going. By Jack's own account he never had the engine checked before.

Anyway back to the update.

Was not expecting they to find the place in this update. Also it was unexpected to see it mostly abandoned save for one person (that we know off).

The interactions between Carol, Naomi and Miss Suck My Dick were kinda funny. Guess now we know to who Carol was pointing her gun in that preview.
Still a shitty situation making the house owner Hana a hostage in her own home. But at least i got a few like points with her by making Jack being polite and helping her when she was having a panic attack after the lights turn off.

Speaking of it hope Jack, Carol, Naomi and Alice make sure this place is up and running during the morning after the tempest pass. Also speaking of the girls nice to see Naomi and Alice making peace after a first brazen start, and Alice is definitely curious about tasting Jack.

Now onto more pressing matters. A small town called White Oak "owned" by someone called Sutter. That doesn't spell good news to the group specially when they have two robbers/scavengers called Trey and Bizzy following them. Guess they will have another siege situation on their hands.
