Several reasons.
But the # 1 reason was because I was on the verge of burn-out and didnt want to deal with the hassle nor did I want to associate myself with anything game related. In other words, I needed a long break free of anything related to game development. It was just adding stress to my life and I needed to cut off from it. My desire to develop games was gone. That's why when REV said he was taking it over it was a weight taken off my shoulders. Also, having someone else taking it over and making it their own meant I no longer felt it was my "responsibility" to do anything related to the game. He was free to do what ever he wanted going forward. The only stipulation was that part 1 was to stay as is. But he was free to modify the story if he wanted to in part 2... even if it meant continuity issues.

Anyway, long story short I'm in a better place now. I've been doing a side project (as a hobby) on my own to create a online version of a visual novel creator. Meaning NO RENPY. Though renpy is fine, I personally never liked it as a development tool nor did I like the fact you need to d/l a big ass file to play it and theres no IOS version support. Having the game play in browser solves all those issues.

BUT. What ever I'm building right now is just as I mentioned a hobby. It might go nowhere... or it might spark a desire to continue part 2 in that format (for renpy fans... I would also make a renpy version that can be played stand alone.)

So yeah, I don't know where all this is going. I havent connected with Hooli (he did the renders) in a while either so I dont know how he'd feel about it and I would not do anything without having talked to him first anyway.

tl/dr.. Don't read this Im just rambling. :D
So part 1 was up until chapter 10, right? I was wondering why you have such low support considering the game was nice and I'm pretty sure you update the game monthly. I always thought, wow this guy put out updates fast. Such a shame... I hope someone would pick a the game from where it ended.

I don't know honestly, I tried to figure it out myself but I couldn't really. I mean, I thought we were producing a really good game (it wasn't a masterpiece or anything, but I would say comparable to other games it was well above average/good). From the downloads, they were in the 10's of thousands per update (not just from here, Im including all sites where it was posted ... if you can trust those numbers, which I have no reason not to.) I can't for the life of me figure out why 1/3 of those d/l would not have thought that giving a 1$ to support us was not worth it... I suppose the amount of free content you can get it's just easier to just support games you really really love instead of games you just rather like and can get for free.

Did you lose your Patreon or subscribstar? The lack of a link at the beginning of the thread didn't make me think funding was the issue, otherwise I would have thrown in my support after just discovering this now.

There's no official plans for any continuation and the studio is basically dead. So.

Exactly. We juggle full time jobs and doing this. That's 7 day work weeks and very little time to do anything else. How many of you could handle that? And yet we're STILL producing another game UHA. Why we have that goal is quite simple, we can't work on 2 games at the same time. So, yeah, maybe if we got support for our work we could! I don;t know if that makes me sound whiney or not, but hell I dare any of you to give it a go. :D lol
I think people were just worried you were pulling a "primal instinct"

this is quite a good game, compared to the average. I don't know why people rate lowly, it deserves 4.5 ⭐ at least from my perspective. It's a pity author abandoning the sequel and these is not any way to sponsor because of dead links. I mean there should be an existing link, no matter what anyone says you're waiting to get paid, but people like me are still willing donating.

Heads up. I'm starting a new project. IT WONT BE PART 2 of Oath of loyalty (sorry).

Why a new project?
Because Im going to use HS2 and because I have a new story I want to tell.

But why not part 2 of Oath of loyalty?
Because I worked on that project as a collaboration. I'll be working on this project alone, at my own pace and with my own vision. Basically I'll be doing everything alone.

Should I support you?
No. You really shouldn't. I'm doing this project as a personal project on my free time at my own pace without schedules, without any pressure to deliver. So, no you should not support me as the game will be free to enjoy for everyone!

But I'd like to contribute!
There will be a patreon page/subscribe star (poss.) a send me a coffee, etc. If you REALLY want to.

But again, my motivation is not economic, so really I don't care :D I hated the pressure of due dates and having to answer to patrons. I feel this way everything is upfront and under MY control :)

More news soon. :) Stay tuned.

Do you have an idea on how the project will progress (Have you planned it out in before hand or will you do update to update to come up with the story to the project)
