Another month, another bullshit excuse err... update!
Despite my best efforts, I haven't gone blind. My palms are too hairy to use a pc and mouse though. This means that the already completed except final proofreading Offcuts 0.4 with Alice route will be delayed.

After 0.4 I aim to either remake Offcuts in Honey Select 2 or better yet, Koikatsu. But I've been cooking some ideas in the bullshit factory... uh Brain! to make a brand new scam uhh... game! Yeah! Game! I've given up on Steam and I won't steal your Patreon money but be ready to part with it, foo! Don't give me no jibba jabba!

TL;DR:

• Bullshit excuse is bullshit.
• Game will come out when it comes out.
• This may be the final version
• Might reboot or do something else.

Monthly Update: Uplifting Downshifting Edition

Another month, another monthly update! As most important things have already been covered in previous updates, this will be a short post that will mostly summarize them.

My eyesight is pretty good now after the operation. It's not as good as it used to be, but looks like it will stay in acceptable shape. Almost feels like it has been slowly improving too, but that might just be placebo. A long period of screen time or some dry, cold winter air makes my left eye a bit wobbly and unfocused, but as long as I leave it enough time to rest it feels pretty good compared to what it used to be. So, looking good.

Offcuts 0.4 is again in semi-active development, I'm going through any existing issues, typos and other minor things to fix. As mentioned, I'll try to aim the release in a good slot so that I can start working on new stuff immediately afterwards. The biggest change will be that I will be working only 4 days (instead of the normal 5 days) at my work after December. This is mostly to keep the eye strain down (just in case), but I'm also interested to see how this little downshifting works for me. Naturally, it leaves me a lot more time to do other things, including this little hobby of mine, so expect some new movements afterward.

And what about after 0.4 is out? There's a lot of new things planned and even already partly done, but I need to figure out what the direction will be. I'll plan to ask for opinions once that comes up. Some possible choices are continuing with new Offcuts story arcs or even starting some completely new stories with new characters. But I'll likely do some polling about this later, I currently don't have a strictly preferred choice myself. And, of course, all this assuming that my eyesight stays in good enough shape to continue at all. This one singular story route has been in development for over 5 years now.

From being almost ready during December of 2019 to being almost ready at the start of 2020 to just needing a quick pass and then off to the testers every month for 4 and a half years since.

Just for a comparison. Witcher 3 took 3 and a half years to make. This dev has been shitting out excuse after excuse for a year longer than one of the biggest RPG's ever developed took to make.

I'm more likely to believe that Eliza Dushku, Amy Acker and Michelle Rodriguez are on their way to may house to take turns tongue fucking my pussy senseless than I am to believe this bullshitter works 5 days a week.

I'd be very surprised if he put in 5 hours a week because checking for spelling and sending files to testers doesn't take around 1600 days.

Christmas is already over. We didn't get to celebrate together. But fear not, for Santabits has good news for you. I AM WORKING ON THE GAME AND IT'S ALMOST DONE. ALL IT NEEDS IS A LITTLE BIT OF POLISH AND PROOFREADING! Once that's done, I need to coordinate the release with daus off in case I need to do last minute patches. It's coming.

It has been a bit slower than normal due to broken hard drive, moving, working for Godot, uhmmm oh yeah! The eye issue! It's not fully well, but it's managable. Problem is that most of the strain is being done at my nine to five and that leaves me with very little eye stamina for Offcuts. Then there's my experimental project that mat be a new game or a revamped Offcuts remake.

I won't bill my Patreon suckers until I release the game. When will that be? I've no fuckong clue, but the game is almost almost done for reals! I just need to overhype and underdeliver.

TL;DR: Same old Same old. A surprise would be actually releasing the fucking thing, but that wouldn't be my style.

Another month (and a year!) has soon passed, which means it's time for the monthly update! During the past year, I have been mostly struggling with my eyesight issues, which fortunately are getting better after the operation. My left eye is still a bit sensitive, but with some regular breaks and eyedrops it rarely bothers me anymore. I have been going through most other issues in the few previous monthly update posts, so feel free to check them for more details.

The only major issue currently is Offcuts 0.4. As mentioned, it's practically ready for release and I'm just angling for a good opportunity to release it. After that, I can either continue with a hopefully more consistent release schedule or possibly retire completely from this hobby. For now, I'm planning to continue with some new full 3D tech I have been slowly tinkering with on the side, but unexpected things can always happen in my life (and with my health). I'm also working less next year on my day job (both for relaxation and health reasons, trying to give some extra rest to my eyes), so hopefully that should provide some good opportunities to get back in the saddle. If that doesn't happen soonish, I'll probably just finalize and release Offcuts 0.4 and then try to figure out what would be the next move, if any.
