Alright so I just finished the update and I have to ask, why in the bluest of all hell did we not get a full on sex scene between Noel and the MC in that shuttle on the way to the manor? Instead we can some basic lazy bullshit sex description. I mean what the fuck? I was really looking forward to a sex scene between them. Oh and the sex scene at the end should have just been a big ass orgy with Noel and the MC fucking everybody.

My take is that it's both, really. It is story focused and character driven...but it doesn't lose sight of the fact that one of the primary reasons for it's existence is also to create hot porn. Sometimes that can be a difficult balance to walk...but I feel that by the time people are through to 0.5, they will start to understand the whole picture better.
Also, I know that the Captain/Leader archetype a lot of people would prefer is a Darrow O'Lykas (Red Rising) or a John Crichton (Farscape) or a Picard (Star Trek) but leaders come in all sorts of veins, and develop in all sorts of ways. Malcolm Reynolds and Luke Skywalker didn't start out saving the world...they were just a grunt and a moisture farmer. Give the MC a minute would be my recommendation. He might start to surprise you.
Nothing wrong with rose tinted glasses coming off, but some of the defects you then spot, might end up being strengths of the story in the end.

I definitely agree that Nyx is more dependable with the way she's presented. I'm all for her being included in our plan and her truly becoming one of our subordinates. I just wish the other crew got more focus as well I suppose?. Lym is unquestionably naive and green like you said, but she has not been given any moment to really shine. I'm waiting for the scene where she realizes her shortcomings and picks herself up to improve them. Our MC is putting no faith in her, and to some degree sure I get the reasons. But rather than trusting and believing in her, the MC is like "yeah she's no good to me right now" which irks me I guess since she is suppose to be our best friend. Even if it's just to protect her, have more faith in her man! Is what I say in my head anyway.
Yeah I hesitated to use the word fuckfest even when writing that. I agree as well, I do think the balance is what felt off to me. I admit part of it is personal preference. I'm one for slow buildups and satisfying payoffs, so a lot of the scenes happening so fast is something I'm mixed on. The scenes are hot no doubt, but I feel like I don't really know some of these characters despite banging them so many times lol. 0.5 seems like it has a ton of potential to clear up at least some of my doubts. I'm hoping by time this Gregorian section ends the crew really pulls together and starts to feel connected for lack of a better word.
As for the MC, I think what it boils down to for me is that he's missing something. I probably am expecting a bit too much given he is fresh out of the academy, but I feel like we get no glimmer at his potential maybe? If I had to put my finger on it, I think it might be that he lacks a certain charisma that I would expect him to otherwise have. It's hard to put into words honestly.
