The table wasn't really about her testing the drug; rather, how far this woman was willing to go for the old man Edwin made nice with. If anyone remembers, but Abel later offers Sophia to Edwin, and obviously Chuck has his blessing for his roundabout foreplay with her. I see the way Abel freely offers his head researcher to associates as a form of self-exaltation. He's showing off, basically.

In hindsight, I think that gets lost on the initial viewing because the reader only sees her standing next to Abel like once and assumed she was a house girl (if they recognized her at all), but I still like the combination punch of showing a yet-to-be-revealed powerful woman's depraved side before she has even been properly introduced.
Personally I'm interested in "her side" of those events. We knows she's super intelligent but appears to be on the border of a "house girl" for Abel. Why? We haven't seen anything yet that would have prevented her from going the "normal route" could it be for Love? Lust? Ludicrously evil 5d chess plan? Exploring her character is more interesting than two "doctors" exchanging medical terms during sex like Edwin is one to do :KEK:

It could be due to Chuck, Sophia comments that he scares her, Kat says that she will be fine if she doesn't lose to him (at chess), but Sophia responds that she feels like he will win and doesn't seem happy about it at all.

Perhaps this “test”, and Abel’s conversation with the MC, is to find out if he can use the MC to “protect” Sophia from Chuck, he mentions that the MC can use his position in the club to his benefit.

Dev could be creating a branch for the future, MC could “protect” Sophia by keeping her, or letting Chuck have her, I guess with all girls we have two options, right?

There are no variables for when the MC ignores Sophia and Kat on the couch, but there are variables and interactions in other scenes if the MC chooses Sophia on the couch, like her laughing at his joke, or when she stops at the door, smiles at him and says goodbye using his name, which doesn't happen when the MC ignores her.

When the MC mentions "His options are limited...", the "camera" goes to Sophia, a hint or am I just overthinking it?

You're right, I don't remember Abel offering us Sophia. When was this ? I know he offered her to Chuck, and he had her massage the MC at (tried) again during the home invasion, but I don't recall him putting her at the MC's disposal. Or am I misunderstanding what you mean by offer?

Anyway, I never thought Sophia was a house girl; it was pretty obvious she was specifically serving Abel, even if the details weren't clear. I did suspect she might be the girl on the table in that scene, but I wasn't certain about that until you mentioned on the forums. I had not, however, thought about Abel putting her in that position as way to show off; I'd always assumed there was a more practical reason for it. It makes sense in retrospect, and it certainly fits the way he treats her around Chuck.

I mean... you're not wrong. It's a porn game, bro.

Everything starts from the premise of do I find this hot? From there, it's working backwards to see if it can be cogently framed to fit the scenario and characters. It's a balance between doing what your penis tells you to do and tempering it so it doesn't veer off track from your brain parts.

Now, is casually playing a board game on a prostitute's ass both a juvenile and porn-brained concept of "excess and power"? Hell yeah, it is. That's Pale Carnations in a nutshell.
Using women, either as furniture or as status symbols, is a fetish that does absolutely nothing for me. Still, I don't have a problem with those scenes. They established the characters/setting as intended, and neither felt belabored. It is, as you say, what makes Pale Carnations and (the Club itself) tick.

Oh absolutely, and you're not wrong in recognizing this.

If I were to restate my prior thoughts in completely transparent and simple wording; it would be - The game currently has scenes that focus heavily on humiliation themes, humiliation does not make my dick hard, so I am going to use this space to lobby against it to try and influence direction towards less humilation scenes and more scenes that make my dick hard. :)

The monkey paw curls and the 4th week changes form the girls being used to the girls being humiliated...... :(

I mean he says "going on with Abel" not "going on with Abel and Sophia". If Sophia is on his radar as a threat to Edwin why not mention her? Dont Edwin and Sophia have a conversation in front of chuck (while he contemplates the chess game) and despite her having "no good reason" to be talking to Edwin (she is utterly in league with Abel) he doesn't just call her over to stop the conversation? Yet that night he talks to his "business partner" about it instead of talking to his Rival (Abel) directly?

IMO that paints chuck as weak because he will only talk to someone he clearly has power over not someone "on his level". Or makes it seem like he missed the possibility that Sophia/Abel could be messing/planning something for Edwin until Kathleen makes Edwin (optionally) have sex with a milf on camera ? I could be confusing two different bar scenes though. In another post you say "Anyway, for unknown reasons, some players haven't grasped the real nature of the relationship between Sophia and our old Abel chap yet. ". Which unless I missed something we still dont know? would you mind refreshing me as to what the real nature is?

Edit: Just noticed she likes Greek tragedy..... maybe she "likes" edwin for Oedipus reasons. It would also give her and kathleen something to talk about :HideThePain:

It should still come out in March...at least for the highest Patreon tier. So we'll likely get it a bit later...so it might slip into April.

The actual redflag to me are the experiments that she and her mengelian boss are doing on the people who work at the Carnation Club.:devilish:
oh come on whats a little non consensual experimental injection between friends? :BootyTime:

End of March -> Mid April is fucking stacked. Multiple (3?) of the highest rated games and plenty of other stuff too.

Interesting info by you! It underlines my argument about the Daimyo-Samurai like relationship of Abel and Sophia - doing what needs to be done, not questioning it (much). Her getting off on the gangbang might show some wild side of Sophia, but that makes her even a better choice among the girls.
I see your point about Abel showing off, but going by what we learned so far during the game, there is more to it than just that. Sophia is obviously his protege and chosen successor at Waller Pharm., she is a genius and highly capable, it seems Abel is sure that Sophia can keep Chuck from winning at chess long enough for their plans coming to fruition.
Abel and Sophia loath the PC leadership, that is clear from where the game currently stands and the home invasion is something of a convoluted "opening move" to pull Edwin on their side.

Thanks for the info, I knew that the interactions of MC and Sophia changed when he chose her in the blue room.

Here you are. Put your finger in the wound.
I might have misremembered that part, but you are still not fully correct with your argumentation. See this part of said conversation which underscores my arguments that Chuck knows not much about the experiments, Abel and Sophia´s plans (which are most defintely against the PC leadership) and he simply dislikes his old rival´s influence.

I think now we can agree Abel was talking about mind games, not drug testing.
