This argument doesn’t make sense to me. He is his own boss, yes he’ll never have a strict deadline making independent games. But him publicly announcing a date to all of his fans/customers should be handled the same as a strict deadline. Him making that public and setting that expectation, is him setting himself a deadline. He even re emphasized the December release in November, if you are giving an “estimate” on a 10 month project the month before it’s a deadline.The problem with what you’re saying is that you’re implying it’s a deadline. It’s not, it’s an estimate. He already even refunded the people who subbed for December just for the release and promised to get the beta to them. He never set a hard deadline, just gave an estimate. While I do agree that WWG is not good at evaluating the speed at which he works or how much time things will take, he’s open about it, and fully transparent too.
As far as the “customer service” side of things, returning money, honoring patrons. That is something he has always been good for, which some devs won’t.
