So here's the Patreon update with WWG. Patreon wants WWG to change his link, so this site doesn't traffic to his patreon page. I'm guessing Patreon wants to have as much proof as possible that they have no connection to f95 and incest patches. So they have possible deniability to paypal.
The only problem is, once WWG updates his Patreon link, F95 will just update the new link. On the other hand, traffic to his patreon is a good thing, because there are people who find games they like and do end up supporting him.

OMG why are they so fucking retarded? Yeah he changes the URL and then the mods here will most likely change it to the new one. It's pirate forum the dev has no control here. I hate patreon so much.

I suppose using a redirector like tinyurl wouldn't be good enough to get around the "direct link" issue either.
Perhaps this is something F95Zone should start to consider - they are indirectly responsible if it keeps up, for impacting the games and developers that they are focusing on, at least that still use Patreon.
I guess one way to nip it in the bud, might to omit any link whatsoever, and simply give the Patreon page/dev name, so people can search for it themselves manually. But again, that would rely on F95Zone staff not sabotaging it and inserting a link of their own. Really all a /pirate/ site should be concerned about is having the game listing, and download links. There's no true NEED to have a direct link to a Patreon/SubscribeStar/etc page. Just the name of it so someone can find it with a manual search if they want to support.
It's a bitch of a problem, that's for sure. Shitreon isn't doing anyone any favors.

TLDR: he tried having both Patreon and SS. No one signed up for his SS so he closed it on his own. I'm thinking that if patreon doesn't open his page back up, he'll be forced to use SS even though he prefer not too.

Some devs just deleted or asked to be deleted any link to their patreon/discord on their threads here on f95 and staff just do it. Radiant thread is a example. The link to their patreon was deleted from the site thread

This is malicious and incredibly authoritarian, and most "normal" people won't say a word against it because porn. Hell, I doubt even the porn industry as a whole, or parts of it, would speak out against it unless it directly impacts them.

WWG's logic behind people not signing up for SS isn't sound. If Patreon wasn't an option then I and others would've subbed on SS. I think he's overestimating the drop off a switch would cause.

That's pretty much it. While it was an option. no one used it. It's only until Patreon is no longer an option that people will start to use SS. It's also been seen that no game ever makes back what they used too on Patreon after a switch. Unless you start on SS or lets be real here, make a loli game. SS is never the best option, it's the backup.
