I played the "patreon appropriate" version of the game and my god it completely butchered the whole project.
It really sucks this happened to WWG and Power Vacuum is one of my favorite games so this one stings.

I have a question tho, how does he continue the game? Is it just over or will he continue making it following patreon's policies and people make fan patches?
Also the next "What if?" might be fucked too.

Yes, WWG will proceed with the game following Patreon's fascist guidelines, and his loving "fans" will add some extra fun content to each chapter. WINK WINK
These fans are so fast, so dedicated, and have such a thorough understanding of WWG's writing style and artwork that you'll hardly know the difference. It'll feel almost as if the patch were made by WWG himself. WINK FREAKING WINK
By the way, for anyone who missed it, the current fan patch also restores incest content in the What If stories.

I feel like we're not all living in the same world here. My understanding is this:
He DID have to make some new changes to the game to satisfy Patreon.
The main game is now virtually unplayable, and the old What If's are no longer available on Patreon.
The main game is fixed 100% including adding back in entire removed scenes by the "fan" patch. WINK WINK
It's a good thing the fans have access to the models and can make scenes to add to future updates. WINK WINK
The fan patch can't be put on Patreon, because the whole point is that it adds content that Patreon won't approve. That's why fans had to make it, because WWG can't put that kind of content into the game. WINK WINK
Do you see me winking? Do you understand how this works?

I'm just wondering where the what ifs and wallpapers with WINK WINK content will be posted since they're probably not allowed on Patreon. Will they be posted directly here? Will they be dialogue only with a WINK WINK patch? Will the type of wallpapers/what if change to accommodate the changes? Will they stop being produced altogether?

Sorry, it's hard to tell sometimes in text form where people are coming from. You sounded panicky to me, which was confusing. My guess would be yes, the patches will come straight here and/or sites like this one. I suppose I'm just making that assumption, but it seems like a pretty good bet to me.
EDIT: Like a lot of Patreon users, I'd guess his Discord is probably also under surveillance by Patreon. I host a Discord as a surrogate for one person so they don't have that issue, but with me not actually being present all the time as the server owner, it hasn't always been smooth sailing.

Been reading some of these posts... I really hope that this isn't the end of Power Vacuum. This is one of the best games around, and it would be a shame for it to be cancelled due to Patreon staff becoming a bunch of prudes. If they are doing this to WWG, just imagine what would happen if they suddenly target other game devs!

The project won't die. I'd be shocked. I think WWG is pretty determined on that.
Wallpapers might not be able to include sex because of the incest, but he could still do sexy pictures of the characters.
Private rewuests might be able to be requested and sent directly some other way that Patreon can't filter (not sure, but seems there must be some way).
What If's can be patched just as easily as the main game.
Depending on exactly how the content gets butchered, he would just need his loyal Patreon followers to realize they need to understand how to get the patch on their own, since he can't exactly point them directly to it.

In the course of the conversation, I think they mean, how could someone continue to earn revenue by offering wallpapers on Patreon if the wallpapers are exclusively posted on a pirate site and not given directly to subscribers on Patreon. That I think is a fair question. He obviously can't post a link on Patreon saying, "here's a link to the pirate site that hosts all my Patreon TOS violating content." He can't really charge people for content that's not provided through the site they pay him on. Even if he could somehow communicate such a plan and people accepted it, Patreon would notice something fishy was going on if people were paying for alleged content that never showed up in any Patreon posts.

I do think it's possible he could do custom renders privately, but the wallpapers that everyone at a given tier are supposed to get would be an issue. I think for that, he just has to limit them to not containing any incestuous sex. Nudie pictures only, basically.

This is slightly disappointing when several of the earlier wallpapers were sex scenes, but alas, plenty of sex scenes in the game itself I suppose. At least we should see more creative wallpapers then.

this is always suggested when something like this happens, but unfortunately i think the issue is that Patreon is the most universally usable/available to potential subscribers. As a result I think devs generally try to comply with Patreon if possible, unless their content is so inextricably against the ToS that they have no other choice but to uses something like Subscribestar
