The thing with these delays is that it's basically always the same thing: Mental health problems and while I don't say it isn't a valid point it gets old really quick, like playing the victim card constantly or things like "You don't agree with me 100%, so must be any kind of -ist or -phobe or maybe a Nazi." After that it's for the most part the same pattern, "I have <insert mental health thing>" and then comes a couple for months of radio silence, but maybe I just don't understand some people's thought process or maybe I'm just different, I don't just put my whole life on pause if something unexpected or unfortunate happens.

This is the thing which I've brought up before. Take 3 months off work...see what happens. People know (ie, some devs) donations will still roll in regardless.

I've had a nervous breakdpwn after my step-father died...wasn't in a good way (thankfully a long time ago now) but guess what? Unless you're in your moms basement, people die, life doesn't stop....and unfortunately shit still needs dealing with. I wouldn't have a problem at all if they had stopped their patreon. Need the money, that's what insurance is for if you're trying to be a full time dev. Bet your ass they went full time relying on donations yet didn't cover their ass in the eventuality of not being able to work. Like self employed people (of which I have been for many years) moaning about covid. What would they have done if they broke their back and couldnt work for 6 months? Up to each individual to cover their own ass in case things go south I'm afraid, not rely on everyone else.

I'm not really sure how any of this is relevant, even if what you say is mostly correct. Firstly, we don't know whether they have anything to fall back on or not if the donations dry up, but secondly, the donations didn't dry up. It's all just speculation. Due to being crowdfunded, they've been given the luxury of being able to stop and deal with their personal problems, which is really something everyone should be able to do in general.

Obviously, it can't be indefinite, but it's still better than them burning out down the line. And if even that's still too much, just pull your support.

For some people, it really did. Besides, I'm not explicitly referring to the pandemic. 2020 has been multi-layered in it's awfulness. For alot of people, the only reason they get up in the morning is because doing so could lead to poverty or starvation.

And I generally try be civil in these things, but that last sentence is utter nonsense. Infuriatingly so. Just because the amount of people struggling goes up, doesn't mean you should be less empathic. That's just justifying your own callousness.
I fully realize it's not a competition... But after being through what I've been through, between me born disabled and therefore ousted my entire life in the shitty central-european country where I was considered less than human because of my disability, my dad being killed, chopped up and scattered in the woods while I was in the hospital for the 3rd month with a kidney issue shortly before my SATs, to my then future girlfriend being a rape victim and other, less significant minutiae like almost losing my left foot to a serious skin disease that left me most of the day screaming for 2 months while I was denied proper painkiller medication, there is absolutely nothing you can tell me to which I won't universally and unsympatethically tell you to man the eff up and take what life gives you with dignity and use the anger to fuel your determination to keep going instead of choosing despair and quitting things! None of this stopped me from dealing with my duties and responsibilities to other people at my usual pace (except maybe the busy screaming with pain most of the day thing).

Callousness? No, experience!

Damn dude, sorry you had to go through all that. That's fucking rough. I hope things get better for you in some way or another.

That said, it's still callous to just expect people to just get over their problems just because they've got it easier than you specifically. The fact that you were able to keep on going is damn impressive, but they're not you and haven't been shaped by your experiences.

This is starting to veer off topic, so a mod will probably start deleting a bunch of posts by the end of the day, including these.

Yea, it's been off-topic for quite some time, but people are pulling the personal issues and mental health card so often, I just couldn't refrain this time from expressing my stance about it... is it really off-topic if it comes up everywhere ad-nauseam? It seems I can't see a VN being delayed without someone in the development staff mentioning personal issues. I'm subscribed to a youtuber who went literally homeless because he couldn't afford the 300% rent raise in South Korea (a legislation to freeze the prices leaked before it could've been passed, landlords exploited it), he still uploaded content almost every day living in a hotel with crappy wi-fi while he was searching for a new home with fair pricing. If that wouldn't have gotten him a free pass, I don't know what...

Not saying Damned and Alorth do....but yeah, it appears some devs definitely take advantage of the porn side peoples thirst and the idiocy of some people who wonder why they are broke every month but forget they donate $5 a month to someone because they someone never check their bank account.

While my approach to people's personal issues just has been described as callous, I won't go as far as straight up insulting them with speculation. There's a difference between lack of sympathy and lack of respect and I do have respect for people who can create something that gets me emotionally invested, be it an entrancing piece of music, or fap material that made too good of a job to deliver a sad story, especially one I can relate to (in what way is both personal and irrelevant for the topic as it's been pointed out, so I won't tell).

This is not me acting entitled. This is me being concerned about talented people putting the expression of their talent on hold for undisclosed amounts of time. Maybe it sounds ridiculous that I put such a high value on a "porn game", but there has been obvious effort put into it to make it more than that and what makes it more than fap material resonated with me.

I don't know the true reason behind the delay, I only know that I've been playing more Sunshine Love than Radiant, I remember them being released roughly the same time, and I have my doubts about the scale being tipped in favor of Radiant with its next release because Radiant's development does not seem to have been contiguous. That's the entire extent of my thoughts regarding the pace of development.

Fair point, I have no choice but to agree. I don't have to like it, but you're right.
He's not at all right. You can criticize behavior you see as inappropriate without direct financial incentive.

In fact he has no financial incentive in whether or not people complain in this thread. Further his complaints about complaints won't stop them. By all of his own reasoning he's doing exactly what he accuses others of.

Those of you complaining have NO idea how long 3d art takes. Yes you can build some random thing with all premade everyghing and render it in a few hours.... this isnt that.
it is tho, they did not model or rig anything. Only thing they need to do is pose, light and animate a scene. Something that a team of two working full time can do pretty fast. They also have lots of locations already set up from 0.1 so the work they have to do is even less.

There would be over 500 pages now if it wasn't for the fun police.

OnT: Still no words from the devs?
There has. It's supposed to be releasing this month. Naturally people have doubts, but they seemed pretty confident.

We're what's called "quietly confident".
To be frank; they did advise we play their other games while waiting for an update to whatever game they're currently working on*. I wonder how many people took the suggestion.

* This update is supposed to be Radiant; so they advised we give NP, Polarity and TFTUV a whirl.

Like all creations from independent creators, I'll wait and see when it comes. My real life twists my stomach in knots enough for me, adding worries and expectations only adds more agony.
