From Alorth on Discord replying to why it's taking long.

"You have all the right to voice your opinion, we won't kick you as long as you're not being disrespectful or your actions are viewed as such. It's true that we all agree that the update is taking way too long, not just the players but even us developers. The reasons for that is a big mixture... we are not only developers but also normal people, we also have family and like to play games sometimes... that means that as humans we can sometimes also get a bit lazy. On the other hand though, the update is bigger than the other ones and the branching also is a pain in the ass as it goes for the coding which would have initially taken longer one way or another, but of course not this much. Now it's true that the last month, we had planned to get the update out, but we had some inconveniences. Sorry that the waiting time is dissapointing, there isn't something we can do to turn back time... but we are already grinding the update out as fast as we can now. It looks to me like, people believe we developers are some special living creature that has no needs but just work. All the developers that are out there and have short update times, they are giving all of their free time into development, putting it on first place and everything else second. It's costing them everything, like it cost to me in the past. I used to have updates every 2 months, but I almost broke up with my gf because I had 0 time for her or other stuff. I worked, ate and sleept, nothing else, 0 playing games or so. Not to mention I even have a dog that I have to walk and give some attention. There are developers that even pass away, because they are all the time only working and being stressed about it. One of the reasons things slowed down on first place was due to health issues coming from overworking myself in the past. So to put it short, I'm taking it slower for my own good at moment and I even hired a artist to help me. You might think that it should be faster if I hire someone, but that's wrong thinking... the few artists that can do close to my quality work that I can hire, take way more time than I do with artwork, so it's not making up for me doing less work. I could hire more artists, but imagine, just for example, if i would hire any other developer out there... how drastically the quality of the game visuals would change... The visual quality is not a fixed thing of this engine, so not anyone can do it, even if they have 5 years experience with it, it might not be enough if they lack the understanding of the engine. If some genie would grant me a wish, and say... You can pick one developer, to work for you for free for the visuals so pick one... I would say, fuck it, no thanks... There wouldn't be a single one around I could pick for my own games unless I teach them for at least half a year and there are no exceptions. I don't want to seem like a high nose or something, but I'm being realistic. I was like everyone else at start, but I started to work in a different way, which made such a huge difference in quality and any other way won't be the same. Not everyone can overcome a huge wall alone... Don't get me wrong, there are good developers out there which have nice quality visuals and use the same engine, but this is also about consistency of the games and the more someone is used to work one way, the harder it is for that person to change his ways."
After almost 1 year without updates this is just plain trolling. Is this official or a meme?
It's like imagine working 8 hours a day, 5 days a week :ROFLMAO:

Not really. There were few games rightfully tagged abandoned here by mods even with devs talking some non sense via patron. Example is Come Inside - I think he still releases wallpapers from time to time.

Theres a lot here you can say to this, The branching paths LOL we are barely into the game if they are having trouble with that now then they will be fucked, there are games with wayyyyy more choices and way further in and they are still consistent with updates so i dont see that as a excuse unless it was a new developer who bit off more than he can chew which obviously isnt the case here.

while i agree with not working yourself into the ground and staying mentally and physically healthy, going from 2 months to over 12 months for updates is taking the piss with this excuse.. Sure, get time for yourself and loved ones, enjoy your time when you can but that does not take doing updates every 2 months to taking over a year.. if they was working for someone and they showed their work for the last few years they would be sacked, its as easy as that tbh. you are self employed, you have been getting great money since the start, you could easily do a update every 6 months or less and still get your time..

to say that if he could get 1 wish from a genie and he would pick no dev is kind of weird.. its like he is gassing himself up acting like no other dev could do the same quality.. there are a lot of good devs and devs that work for a lot less and give more to their supporters.

plus do they not have 2 devs working on this? this working yourself into the ground thing is way worse when its 1 dev.. if you have 2 and you split up your work between them and have good communication it should be way easier and give you way more time for other things while still getting out good timely updates.. unless their communication is awful and they both have different ideas or one is bringing down the other idk how having 2 can be worse..

I think its safe to say that, according to them (which means pretty much nothing at this point) its more than just two people working on this thing. If anyone is actually working on it, thats the question. And Alorth has apprentices that could give him a hand at shipping this thing already.

The reality its pretty simple, they procrastinated for months on end, as they've said themselves, playing games and whatnot, did barely any work, and then the issues started to happen... and by issues I mean poor planning, like going on vacation without setting up everything properly with actually shit to do, renders and coding... which is also nuts to me because they can afford going on vacation without actually delievering an update first. Priorities, I guess... like walking your dog, that takes a lot of your time while you work at home and wait for the rendering to finish. Its not like they are doing a demo version and don't have stuff built and done already.

Meanwhile the patrons keep being poached out of their money while Alorth does a couple worthless wallpapers no one cares or uses for the lolz and his streams. I used to be one of those chumps, haven't been for a while, but seeing shitty excuses like the lastest one makes mad I dropped $20 on this project. But, as long they are burning the patrons money and not burning themselves out, I guess thats fine... in their minds, at least.

I never held Dammed in very high regard since he likes to shit on his own fanbase and constantly mocks the people who gave him his success, but I did respect Alorth and still do on his work. Now, I am not so certain Alorth isnt part of the problem and I am not so sure Dammed is the only issue with the project anymore.

If you sort the games on this site in descending order by rating there are 4 or 5 abandoned games on the first page. That means ~90% of the best games on this site are beat by some abandoned games. I imagine the devs will keep collecting so long as there is something to collect. Also, this dev is working on three games at the same time? It sounds ambitious, yes, but it also sounds stupid. I worked as a server in a restaurant while in college and it always amazed me how some servers wanted so many tables for a Friday or Saturday night thinking they were going to simply make more tips. But that doesn't happen very often because none of the tables in their sections hardly ever felt like they were taken care of because the server had too much to do comfortably by themselves. So they just let things slip here and there, so long as they were comfortable with it. Mostly other servers walking around topping coffee, tea, etc. were the ones mostly taking care of these tables. The point is you can be easily blinded by the dollar signs in your eyes if you are not careful enough.

…I just noticed this but anyone know what's supposed to be in the "true edition" that isn't already in the "taboo edition"?
Usually "taboo" edition just means incest enabled. The difference is usually only in some dialogue that changes "landlady" to "mom" or something like that. I am unaware of anything else regarding the taboo edition.

yeah sounds like more than 2 people and yet they guy said the other artist is slow lol so basically doing nothing to update time? which makes me think why even have a extra if it improves nothing, none of it makes sense tbh..

i see dammed on another thread ages ago talking about a different game and arguing with people, it made me confused as fuck.. spending his time on other threads while this shit show happens here.. its lack of respect to those that pay and lack of giving a fuck. thing is when 2 devs are both in that mind set it will only get worse if thats whats happening, you need one to be the one pushing if the other is lazy with it or lacking the will to do it.. but if they're both on that mindset of not caring that its taking over a year per update then they are likely just giving eachother excuses as to why its ok and not trying to fix it.

im pretty sure early on in this game, im not sure if it was episode 1 or 2 but i remember seeing people say that they was going to be really long update times, it apparently came straight from the devs, so they was planning on taking long as fuck from the beginning. i cant remember exactly when but it was said on here so someone might be able to find it.

Yeah, if you click the link to the patch, under "taboo edition" it says it introduces incest and "age-play" (I assume jailbait/underage stuff?), but below that it's also written "True edition (coming soon): Enables the 'fully-uncensored version' of Radiant, which modifies the base game and adds more risqué content," so I was wondering what that "more risqué content" could possibly be.

I read they planned it as a side project they would work on a little only. But the initial release was a hit they didn't expect but hoped (they have a goal to work full-time on the game and release fast udpates). But they weren't prepared to success and it seems they can get their mind right
