I really hate these type of developers. If you can't finish it, don't bother raising funds
"Hate" is a pretty strong word. I could say I "hate" posters with a ridiculously bizarre sense of entitlement who strangely believe that an AVN dev they are not supporting (or even if they are) somehow owes them something/anything. :ROFLMAO: But that would probably be going a bit too far, no?

How about we just agree that since nobody can see the future it is likely that the vast majority of devs start projects planning to finish them...but that life interferes somewhere in the long development period and results in games not being finished. Isn't it more realistic to assume that most people wouldn't start a long complex project unless they intended to complete it? Many may be naive to think they can do it, but it's a HUGE stretch to claim they knew that in advance and therefore deserve "hate" because they don't finish.

Life can always get in the way of the most well prepared projects.

I had a friend who lost his leg the same day as he'd agreed to buy a house with his girlfriend. While in hospital, the girlfriend told him she couldn't live with a man with one leg.

I had another friend who'd got a new job, went to the pub to celebrate, broke his ankle on the way home. You can't take it personal if a dev struggles to deliver something. As I always say, support the dev if you like their work, but don't expect them to always deliver on time.

Of course bad things in real life can happen, however lots of people start an AVN without realizing what it entails in term of work, without a clear vision and a planning. You have to commit for a few years, unless you start by a short story to gain experience. And you shouldn't expect to make lots of money right off the bat, it can take a few years. And oftentimes you're just not good enough.

Even dev who make a lot of money can disappear overnight, I wonder if they could do that with a "real" job.

Depends on the reason for the disappearance of course. Difference is that in real life people will miss you and try to contact you.

And in the game/AVN world you get the opposite: hate, scorn & vitriol merely for slowing/pausing/ending - for any number of valid IRL reasons that are personal and are nobody else's business - a free/leeched project you were working on. I even saw a post here a day or two ago suggesting someone kill a dev who had abandoned a game. The internet turns cowards into loudmouths full of false bravado they have none of IRL.

I know both Killer7 and BrainDrop (and a few other I can't remember now) have gotten death threats. The collective IQ on the internet are dropping like a stone....

Do we have recent news from the dev somewhere or not ? The models and visuals in this AVN are really stunning, it would be a shame for this project to end like this. I'm more circumspect about the game's story, which seemed rather secondary in this one, but it was still pretty good overall. But I guess unless something changes, the game is dead.

As a fingerstyle guitarist, I've watched on YouTube pretty much all the acoustic covers played in this game, so it is difficult not to imagine the specific dudes with guitars when I play the game.

I thought it was their own covers, so devs just took covers from youtube?
