Recommending [Reworked] List of my favorite Honey Select 1&2 games [upd 25.10.24]

Great list, exactly what I was looking for as I kinda have an itch for good HS games currently. Thank you so much for your work.

Sup guys, the thread was fully reworked. Now it has a more readable table view and includes cons, pros, and score.
Also, a few notes:

• If a game has a ? in the score column, it means the game has only a few updates and the rating is based on the most recent one.
• At the moment, most entries will be missing the rating, cons, and pros columns. This is because I mostly played them a long time ago and have forgotten unique details. However, if I replay them or remember something, I will update the entries. I just remember that they were good
• I really hate sandbox games, so any game like that will get -1 in the overall score
• Mostly all entries have good animations and render quality. If it's not listed in the pros, it doesn't mean it's bad

It's your list, so do whatever you want, but I would suggest moving some of the more current games to the top so people can give them the attention they deserve vs. some old game from 2019 with passable content. For example, Stella, Slatford and Wildcats are all in active development so they would all benefit from more players! I also think Stella is more like a "9/10?" but I know taste is personal... New Horizon is at least a 7/10?, maybe 8/10?

Another column that might be worth adding is how much content there is. Some of these games are super short but others are super long. But then again, I haven't played all of them and I know it would be quite a lot of work. Just some unsolicited feedback

No need; toggle BB code (gear icon), and start cutting & pasting [TR]'s (perhaps copy paste everything to a text/code-editor first, then paste everything back & preview). Some code editors may have BBCode (syntax highlighting) support (via an extension).

Some other thoughts I had (for tidying up / legibility):

• fonts are a bit of a mess;
  • I'd remove formatting (gum icon in toolbar), then make font size of text inside table 12px perhaps
• engine: remove 'renpy', as it's the same for every row (ATM); just mention when it's *not* renpy?
• 'HS1/2' instead of 'Honey Select 1/2'?
• items in 'pros' column: have a '+' as marker?
• a space between a list marker & its label;
• although: creating actual lists & keep cell contents left aligned make lists (tags, pros, cons) (arguably) more legible;
• table editing has a 'table header' option.

Btw, like MaxRichard just suggested before me, I think the best way to have a table like this would be as a spreadsheet. Google Sheets (e.g.) has the option to let the viewer filter & sort the data as they wish (IIRC, haven't worked with it for a while).

But well, that's relying on an external service o/c, and an extra click & load for the forum user.
Or both: compact overview table here, detailed table external. (or the snapshot copy/paste Max mentioned)

edit: IMO a (default) sorting of year (descending), title (ascending) makes most sense.

On the literal opposite end of the spectrum is Twisted Memories, which may just be my favorite game of all time. The writing is incredibly good and mature for an AVN (don't expect James Joyce, it's still very degenerate stuff). I kept putting off this game because of the screenshots in the thread. Nothing really appealed to me. Don't do that. Just go in. Pictures don't do it justice and no review can capture the essence of this one-of-a-kind game.

I don’t exactly remember when, but i dropped Solvalley School because of the 720p resolution, it looked really outdated. Maybe I will give it another try.

Yeah, Solvalley sucks in the render department. It's just a hilarious game though IMHO and what it aims to do, it does well

I find TK8000's games pretty fun, somewhat a category of its own: Solvalley, HS Tutor (Kk) & (the lesser known, underrated perhaps) House Arrest (HS). Take them for what they are: say lighthearted fap games / fuck fests? (But they're deffo not 'smut' or smthng, there's still building up, story, gameplay etc. & pretty content rich.)

Can vouch for Twisted Memories, some intense scenes there.

Another I don't see on the list is The Anomalous Dr Vibes Waiting for an update myself to give it a proper (re)play one day. Also in the 'fun' category I'd say, and Dr. Vibes comes across as a nice cult figure right From 2018, still ongoing (like 2018 The Inn), feels a bit like a classic to me

But, except for TM, all sb (free roam)...

-- was trying hard to remember some game that seemed to have some cross-over model style, one part HS I believe. Can't remember it, not sure if it was a recent one or not, but looked interesting for sure. Will run into it again eventually

Changelog 25/10:
Technical:

• Table font changed to Verdana
• Tags, cons, pros, and notes are now aligned to the left, font size changed to 12
• Now pros,cons use +/- as a splitter
• New rule: I decided to exclude all games tagged with "loli," so 3 games were excluded

After checking a lot of games, it's hard to find something good. I'm really tired, so I want to take a break. I won't update the thread for at least a month, maybe longer, if I'm still not in the mood. Maybe as a small recommendation/feedback: for DropOut Saga, I think it would make sense to add notes that the game starts incredibly weak (at least imho). Like the sandbox is unnecessary and tedious, the models and animations are rather basic.

It does pick up quite fast after about an hour or so, but it definitely does not really help to find the motivation to continue playing when the start is like it is.

Also, are you sure those are custom animations? Those look rather standard HS2 to me. It is more the camera angles that were chosen really well.

Imo,lp are not about choices,there are a few endings but only one is canon - harem
