Doesn't everybody? Naked and ready for when the mood hits my wife. :D
Anyway, is that a question about how secure I am? Is it a trick question?
Nah no veiled questions here. I know it's kind of a weird thing to hone in on but I've never read any other VNs where the characters all sleep on top of the covers like your characters do and I keep thinking about it for some reason. Sleeping above the covers isn't that weird or anything, but it's just slightly unique enough that I wondered if it was a lifestyle quirk that you passed on to your characters. Thank you for indulging my curiosity.

I do have a friend that sleeps with his head under his pillows. Now THAT is weird. Idk how he does that.

Actually, doing blankets over characters in HS2 is kindof a pain in the ass and just didn't seem worth the time or trouble. In Day 10, there is a flashback scene about Kat checking on MC's mom when she was sick... I have one render in there showing mom in bed under the covers. That particular bed, the way the covers are setup on it already, made it a bit easy to sort of 'tuck her in' there. Those covers aren't movable (the bed and everything is part of the map itself). It can be a real challenge to get HS2 to do some things. Or you have to find mods that will do what you're needing.

Doing blankets in Daz can be a nightmare also. When I do my game, none of my characters are ever going to sleep for just that reason.

Do either Daz or Honey Select let you run physics simulations? I.e, could you position your characters on the bed, suspend the blankets above them, and then let it fall and deform naturally?

Daz does and it's either amazing, or horrible; but either way it is a huge resource hog and takes forever. You can wait for a Loooong time only to have it fail, especially since it works kind of like real life and if you "drop" the blanket and everything isn't positioned right and gravity and air resistance set right - it can slide off your character just like a blanket dropped from above. I'm sure it's easier and better if you spend lots of time to learn how and I will probably use one or two just because I prefer the more natural look, but not many. Beds will not be for sleeping!:sneaky:

I work in Blender a lot and you can do physics simulations there. Same thing happens like what you described, if you let the simulation run too long then the blanket slides off of the bed like oil on water. There's probably some friction settings to mess around with but I haven't gotten that deep in the physics simulation game yet.

See what I mean... seems like a lot of trouble just to get a render or two with a blanket on someone. Who needs blankets in a porn game anyway? :D
So yeah, that's why I rarely (almost never) use blankets on characters. There is one I think that has some FK spots where you can kind of shape it, but I can never get it to look just right. An hour or more spent on a blanket for a single render - hell it would end up taking me a lot longer to get an update out if I worked like that.

Speaking of DAZ... I don't really like the way the female body looks in DAZ. There are very few games where they look okay. Sometimes it just doesn't look quite right for some reason. I find that the female bodies in HS2 and AI (and even HS) just have a more natural shape. That's why I chose to use HS2.

I think part of the reason they don't look right in Daz most of the time is that people mess with the proportions, and they all have disproportionate cartoon boobs and Kadashian asses :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

It does seem like a lot of trouble, especially if the asset wasn't designed with easy editing in mind, but I am definitely a sucker for characters sleeping together without banging. Some of my favorite scenes have been characters falling asleep under the covers prior to any sexual interaction.

Indeed. Most of the ready-to-go assets on the Daz store bottom out in the uncanny valley pretty hard. The textures are waaayyyy too realistic without quite actually looking real. Like you said, the shapes and proportions are also close but not quite right. I find the expressions are often pretty haunting no matter what emotion they're trying to portray. Certified freakazoids.

Idk how they pull it off, but Honey Select gets pretty realistic looking without dipping into the uncanny valley.

Why would you need a blanket? It looks like its a tropical island so nice and warm. Plus it's a dream world so you can make it feel the perfect temp

No. Nope. Don't. Also what's the point of a poll if you say " The outcome of this vote is NOT going to direct my decision. " Obviously you're going to do it and take away from developing Serenity Chapter 2 and Last Human regardless of the outcome. I love how Chapter 1 is. It doesn't matter though.

Polls are not just for deciding how something should be. They can be used to get an idea for how others feel about something. I said that the results of the poll won't "direct" me to a decision. If you read the entire long post, you should also have seen that I said that if a lot of people are against it (like you obviously are), that would be a strong point against the idea. Another thing, I never said anything about taking away from developing Last Human. I know some people 'love how Chapter 1 is', but there may be more that don't agree with you. My poll is to get some idea of that.

Moving forward is better than focusing on the past. At least that's what my dad used to tell me before he died years ago, so I like sticking to that logic. Love the games. Do what you think is right. I don't agree with a rewrite but this is your novel. Another thing is whenever I see rewrite it is either to milk subs, (which I 100% don't believe you'd ever do, you're to wholesome for some bullshit like that), completely changes for the worse or is just a waste of time. I have confidence that you'll do what you think is best.

I appreciate the kind words... no way would I be doing something like this to milk subs. I'll just keep doing what I am doing and probably still get subs (or not get them). I don't really care about the subs, and that is the honest truth.

Moving forward definitely IS better than focusing on the past... In Life. But this is game development. Not the same thing to me. Granted, what I have done so far has been well accepted by a lot of people (and I am so thankful for that). But if I did it again, there is so much I would do differently. And I think those same people will actually like it more. And perhaps some people who didn't like it in the past might actually like it. Anyway, it isn't really about that either though. It's about me being happy with what I leave behind. Yes, I am happy with it as it is. But I would be happier with it another way - I guess that's what I'm trying to say.

As for the Camilla and 'Dad' stuff. I really don't want to spoil it (in case I decide to move forward with this rewrite). But...
Camilla would already be conflicted because her original story does cross over with MC's Mom. The only difference being that she isn't related to them. Put it this way... Camilla was once 'good'. But because of some circumstances, she switches sides. And by the MC's time in the story, Camilla is starting to see things differently. The more interesting part from my original story is that MC and Camilla battle it out for a little while before finally reconciling and coming together. Demitre's cruel use of Camilla as a puppet is going to push MC to intervene.
So, there is a story there. Just, slightly different. It is (to me anyway) a better, more interesting plot. Plus, I'm not caged in by the incest bullshit. Something I don't want to write about.

You have to keep in mind that I started developing Serenity as a complete noob with Renpy, HS2, AI, the whole process. I learned by doing and just put it out there. Hence all the negativity I received at the beginning. Even then though, some people still loved Serenity. But I let a lot of the comments and reviews sway me too much and then got too far in to change anything. I also did a lot of things just on a whim that I shouldn't have. <sigh> You learn and grow. But that's the process. I'm making a game (scratch that... I'm making a VN). And it is technically still under development.

I think I would be okay with a rewrite if:
- It doesn't take too long to "catch up" to where we are now. Do you think you could do it in a year?
- Last Human still gets regular updates
- "Serenity Classic" is still available for download

Yes, I think I could at least get close to where we are now in a year, minus some characters that shouldn't have been there in the first place for sure.
Last Human has a long road ahead. I'm not planning to stop making LH. I have a ton of stuff written for it already.
Serenity 'classic' will always be around. It isn't like I'm going to just take it down. In fact, 'Re.Serenity' would probably get a new thread here because it won't be the same game (err, story... I never feel right calling it a game).

I would say no on the rewrite. I think that part of the MC realizing his true potential requires him to have access to his mother and sister in the story. There were very few people that mattered to MC in the real world, and him being able to create any world he can imagine, he would imagine a world without the mother he just lost? I think story-wise, both characters add to the story. I understand that more characters means less time for each character during each update, but I really wouldn't want any of them out of the story. I would not mind if going forward, you focussed on fewer girls per update, as long as everyone eventually gets an arc.
