This is going to sound stupid, but I swear I've tried everything I can think of. How do I equip my sword? I'm trapped in the first room. Nothing I press does anything.
Trap in the first room? You mean in the first area? Or trap in one of the "prison" room from later areas?

EDIT:
Wait, are you talking about the home where you start? If so, you have to go to the right (there is a table with a glowing map), then press the attack button (by default it's "Z") and it will bring you to the level selection screen.

So the blog showcases some animation in the scenes was there a patch for that or is just delayed?
Seems he's more interested in making another game from what I saw.

Right now the last game update is on several months of hiatus until Engineer Mii-kun completes his company work and goes freelance. The recent blog posts are just teaser content for the next project, which is set in the same universe as Sinisistar.

Seems we won't be updated with anything too exciting anytime soon. Welp, why don't we discuss a bit while we wait, eh?
Concerning this new game our guys are working at... I think the only thing Sinisistar lacks in order for it to be THE best h-game I've ever played is a more engaging combat. I know, I know, none of us found this game because we were after THAT kind of entertainment, but hey, having a variety of mechanics in a game is what keeps us invested on it, right? Be it an h-game or not.

So I hope Mii-kun develops the combat a bit more for their new game, especially melee combat, since I think the bow and arrow is already as good as it can get in a platformer. Right now my personal favorite h-game of all time is Succubus Affection. The pixel art is not nearly as polished as Sinisistar's, but it is just as varied, if not more. But most importantly, the combat on that game is INSANELY good. It is an action sidescroller as well, and it's melee-focused-semi-combo based system makes so satisfying to defeat enemies and progress through the game.

I won't go into much detail here cause this ain't a review for Succubus Affection, but man, if only Sinisistar's speculatedly spiritual sequel that is currently in development could have an upgrade on its melee combat in relation to Sinisistar, I think it could end up becoming one of the best 2D h-games of all time.
Of course, it doesn't need to be complex enough to call the game a freaking "Action RPG"...

...but not gonna lie, I'd be happy if we got more than just this one attack for melee combat this time:

What do y'all think?

Actually, I find the main appeal of this game to be the porn the lack of complexity in the combat. It helps to show how powerful the enemies are when you lack skills that allow you to move quickly or change up your attacks. The gameplay gives you that "helpless" feeling the game's atmosphere creates; it really shows in the first and fourth boss fights, where the boss is slowly advancing on you, and your attacks can only stall them before you deal the killing blow. And that music track that plays during these fights? Despair-inducing.

If the developers do go the route you're talking about, the one similar to Succubus Affection, then I hope the enemies and the bosses are up to par. The developers will have a lot of work on their plate.

Only to throw it all out the window once you figure out the boss' attack pattern and steamroll them damageless.

I for one like the simple combat. I just wish the game was longer.
The lab stage they're adding now is shaping up to be really good. There will be a soft game over scene in it too IIRC.

I wish. Repetition doesn't do me well. I almost always end up trying to change it up.

I agree, the levels could have been more longer. There are some enemies you encounter only once for example (I'm not talking about the boss of courses) and it's a bit a shame I think.
In my opinion, repeating the same enemies isn't really great, especially for hentai games based on game over rape. I believe the game has enough content for its price, but I would certainly not complain if there was more.

To be clear, I'm not saying he should have repeated all enemies and have longer levels just for the sake of being longer. But I think some levels felt a bit shorter in comparison to other and could have beneficied from an additional room or something.
