I went back and played Morgana's branch of the latest update (the crazy bitch that she is, I think that Lancelot was telling the truth when he said he got the anti-virus software in the split up) and I admit to having slightly divided opinions on the Phlaxian males, on the one hand they are well designed in terms of being an alien race, looking a lot like an amphibious and/or cave dwelling species. The males are largely consistent with their described role in what sounds like a somewhat eusocial species, although if their main role really is to keep the jizz pools topped up then a lot of their reproductive anatomy (mainly the fun part) is superfluous.

On the other hand I find them spectacularly unattractive as they look partially digested or like a Fallout Ghoul that got worked over with a sandblaster.

As far as the Phlaxians go, I'm actually kind of torn myself... but I did want a genuinely alien species in the mix, and there's a bit of a storyline going on about the male-female dynamic on Phlaxis that should be interesting.

If you want to cheat though, I remember in half-life 2 where they mentioned clouds that were intelligent. Imagine if those thought bubbles that you click for the fantasies and flashbacks are actually aliens and what poking them now means.

I do a Xenobiology 101 series on patreon, and I'll be doing some xeno lectures that look into less featured species in the stat-training part of the game (you'll earn knowledge!) SpaceCorps does have FTL - although I haven't actually discussed it in the game (lol - we still haven't actually taken off! Well, it's only been a year of development.) I'll go into a bit more detail about it, probably in game, but there are various types of FTL around:
- vacjump (short-range instantaneous jump between fixed installations known as Casimir Plates, available to all citizens)
- hyperdrive (restricted to the long-distance hyperlanes, available to licensed citizens)
- jumpdrive (jump anywhere within range by entering Heimspace, military-only)
- Lorentz Engine (near-infinite distance jumps but only navigable by Piloteers, flagship and spec-ops military-only)
The USS Mercury Mobile Recruitment Centre is sub-light, though... MC will have to return to the mothership to see FTL in action.

My point is, this is a fantasy work, and people complain about something unrealistic when the entire piece is fantasy.

I'd agree - I've made the characters a bit cartoony, anyway with all their unrealistic muscles and giant cocks and skinny waists, etc. I get that there are different strokes for different folks, though.
