agreed, not bad but not good either, they failed at making it even a little scary, like they were more focused on making the things extra grotesque and having their victims die more gruesome, bad horror movie but at least an entertaining slasher flick
For me it was beyond that: they relied way too much on CGI (the original was far superior in effects IMO, and it was 30 years earlier), the scientists in both films happened to come to pretty much exactly the same conclusions, and they relied on flamethrowers again to make sure the thing was dead. Would every research station in Antarctica have flamethrowers as standard issue? At least they revealed the failure to imitate inorganic material very well. That's not enough to save the film but that was something pretty good. [sigh] Anyway, I do quite like references here and there in Stranded in Space and especially the humor. If you're a fan of pop culture in general, there's a decent amount here.

Hmmm... It seems I missed a scene. Not sure if it's a bug or if I made the wrong choice.

Does anyone know what are the conditions for...

OK, many people have been posting here for quite some time for the escape room stuff, whether voicing frustration, asking questions, or offering suggestions and hints — especially WildmanDev who has given a lot of really good help. Here is a list of what you can do to get both all of the numbers to actually escape and all of the numbers for the laptop afterward. A few spots are randomized, so I noted those in the instructions below. I've been pretty thorough, but I'm also really tired. If you notice any mistakes, please let me know.

I followed your guide to a T, but after I do the notebook directions and get back to mat bye the give up sign. There is no sticky note. I reloaded and done it 3 more times just to make sure I did not mess up. But always no sticky note... Bug???

Did the screen shake and the MC say (think to himself) it shook? If not, you actually didn't follow the directions in the notebook correctly. Reloading won't help you: the instructions from the notebook (step 43) change every time you get a new instance of the escape room. So reloading just means you'll have different directions than you did before.

You might also look at this post I made as well. But no, there is no bug. I've said it before, but I'll repeat it here: screwing up the directions on the notebook is actually fairly easy to do. It's one of the biggest sticking points for folks, but it's not bugged. It's just not a walk in the park to follow perfectly.

No I meant I reloaded before I went in, so I went through all the steps again. And thank you for your reply. I figured it out though. It was just me being stupid and missing the get away from the mat first. Thanks a gain for the reply and for the guide!!! If I had any cookies I would give you a whole batch!

No problem. It's a lengthy process, so it can be easy to miss something or to make a mistake somewhere. I think I ran through the escape room something like 8 or 9 times to make sure the steps were solid. That's actually how I found out some of the parts (like the Notebook directions) are randomized.

I agree. 32 bit formats are going the way of the floppy disk... It's difficult to find a new system that even has an optical drive these days. The good news is that you can pick up an older 64 bit OS system for dirt cheap! Great idea... :)
Papa, don't keep talken' bout moms floppy disks!
We don't want her getten' cranky!! :HideThePain:

i think its more like it being written in the late 30s thats just how the language was back then, today it would be a mouthful and you would just say "Who's there?"
As a US Marine in the 1980's we were trained to say, "halt, who goes there?" if anyone approached our post. It IS a real thing, my friend. And, it is a few hundred years old in military tradition...

Yes, my friend... in creating true terror, the less you see of the creature or other antagonist the better it is for the suspense. Hitchcock knew that very well and the directors that emulate that style have the best results for being truly terrifying.

Hell, Lovecraft knew that well. It's one reason his writing is so great: your own mind creates the terror you experience.

Why the game doesn't have sound or music. Without sound and music, it feels dull and boring.
I'm currently in the process of adding music to the game.
As long as it's done well. I hear a lot of big mistakes many devs make with the sound they add:
  • having the same song playing over and over
  • failing to use fade in / fade out between songs
  • looping with sudden cuts to the sound
  • using "super-porny" sex noises that sound completely ludicrous
  • sex noises not synced well with the animations being played
  • failing to remove ambient noise so you hear "scratching" sounds behind the intended audio
  • and so on
Sound is not nearly as simple as a lot of people think it is. I hope you're able to manage it well, Wildman. Sound done poorly can be worse than no sound at all. But, given the quality of the game up to this point, I have faith in your ability to figure it out. :)

My workaround to the lack of music so far, is to just open a tab to YouTube to some space-themed, lo-fi music stream while playing the game. Surprisingly (or perhaps not), it works very well, no matter the scene of the story.

man....the english is very readable, at least, and the UI is clean and functional. but the writing feels like a 50 year old trying to write a 15 year old neurotic wreck of a human being. and not many of the other characters are any better. the plot is incredibly obvious

and anyone with a brain could piece 2 and 2 together. the ladies are very....6/10. the only standouts being camila and ishani. i'm gunna TRY to give this another go but it's pretty painful having this artificial replacement for Pixie from Corrupted Kingdoms in my head constantly urging me towards boning anything and everything in sight.

P.S. Paige isn't anywhere near as cute as Pixie. Sorry, chummer.

All good, I appreciate you trying the game out.

I'm wondering how many people listen to lofi while they play visual novels such as these.
