Random thought in regards to recent controversy of progress bars/ in game time passing:

Even though we all understand general vn plot structures (faster and slower plot lines for milfs, more popular characters, etc.). I think the game has enough charm at times to where I kind of blissfully ignore something a bit weird. For example the in game time progression from day 1 to the upcoming update. The playable days concept is interesting/confusing in the sense that yes we are still within 1-2 days of arriving at camp and we’ve already got some unnaturally strong feelings with certain LI’s. I feel like maybe the “playable day” is intended to be a feature of necessity rather than an actual representation of how much time has passed since arriving at camp. Like the implication here is that more time has actually passed than what is represented with in game days. But even if that is the case, how are we as players supposed to naturally detect that? I could just be making myself look like an idiot in saying this but oh well it’s just a thought. Lol

But again I sort of willingly ignore it because of the charm of the game and characters, even if it sticks out. I could be very far off on this but just a general thought.

Yea I'm willing to have suspension of disbelief if the story and characters are captivating enough. The sexy-ass quality of the renders don't hurt either. As long as it doesn't get too out of hand, the only times those illogical inconsistencies become glaring flaws are when the character writing starts to suck or the grammar is awful. If you take me out of the story, I start asking questions.

I only pop in from time to time and I think this might be the first time I talked here, but my suggestion would be an overall progress bar as well. I get that is hard to do especially in the beginning when you really don't have a lot to work off of but I would suggest adding about 20% to your timeline roughly for a bit of a cushion that way if your early that's great if your late it's not as bad. Like say you think it will take 6 months for the whole update then you would say roughly 7 and a half months or so then if you think it's roughly 3 months say about 14 weeks. As you get closer to time that 20% will still give you a bit of room but should be fairly close to when you think so like say it gets down to around a week maybe say roughly 9 days. People will be happy if it takes 7 days instead and if your still a bit off and it takes 12 days then they will have 2 less days to stew in there anger. If this sounded dumb I apologize but that is kind of how I live my life I rather be early than late so I over estimate how long it takes me to go places.

i am new here. i come here, bitch bout the lack of big titty teacher not getting more attention, fap and leave. prolly the second porn game ive tried that i havent deleted within 5 minutes of playing it.

and no, i dont believe in putting a pair of knitting needles through my eyes just cause itll be more convenient for the creators.

no one is saying that they need to get it out within 1000h when it shouldve taken them or anyone else 2000h to do the work. there is a thing called buffer that could possibly allow them to exven go for 3k hours to finish the work. let the user base decide whether they want the devs to release smaller updates, or larger ones. and then they gotta stick to it. cause yeah, Pepperidge Farm should fucking Remember.

they and their own retarded customers decided on this system a sub zero IQ monkey would reject.

and i could agree that its fine, thier money, their work. but to have yall here of all places make excuses bout how this points to their astuteness is just the worst.
The whole release date thingie affects more developers than just the creators of this game. So, it's not particularly unique to them. A lot of developers have been burned by estimating a release date too far in advance. Like I said, most sensible AVN developers these days do not publicly announce a release date or month until they are absolutely certain they can deliver on time.

The vast majority of AVN developers with games on this forum are solo or small-team developers. Despite earning coin via the likes of Patreon, they aren't professional developers in the true sense of the word. Most of them create games as a side hustle. It's not their primary employment.

There was a time, pre-COVID, when many games released a reasonable-sized update on a three- to six-month cycle. Three things are apparent to me from that time:

1. The render quality was much, much lower than today and developers could chug out a much greater number of lower quality renders within a given time frame (witness the use of Daz3D Genesis 3 assets back then compared to Genesis 8 or 9 now),

2. Developers tried to pander too much to the whims and fetishes of their Patreons with polls and such like, giving Patreons a controlling (sometimes dominating) voice in story content how the AVN unfolded (witness games that became messes because developers had no real plan, got pulled every which way by their Patreons, and learned the hard way that you can only please some of the people some of the time, not all of the people all of the time), and

3. many developers burned out and abandoned their games competing in that rat race (witness the many very good but abandoned games with no story resolution).

Of the games I follow now, most feature high quality graphics, relatively complex storylines (at least compared to yesteryear), and have six- to twelve-month development cycles. The updates are usually worth the wait and I am happy the developers haven't joined the burn-out graveyard.

I play only one game (from a long established developer) that uses the monthly update model. That development model results in consistent monthly updates featuring maybe five to ten minutes of gameplay at most for each update - and, of course, some people still bitch about a lack of update content with this update model (you can only please some of the people some of the time, not all of the people all of the time).

In summary, the developers of Summer Heat are not doing anything that isn't the norm in AVN development these days. And, yeah, we'd all love shorter update cycles, but that ain't gonna happen anytime soon with quality games...

The problem with overestimating a release date is that people will cotton on to it after a few updates, especially if the actual release is consistently one or two months/weeks before the estimated release date. Then some punters start expecting releases one or two months/weeks before the estimated release date. If a release doesn't happen according to the adjusted expectations of those punters then the moaning and bitching will start anyway. That's just how it works here.

The safest bet for developers is to not announce a release date until they are absolutely certain they will meet the deadline without any unforeseen hiccups.

Personally I prefer progress numbers than progress bars with percentage. Number of renders produced, as it's the sinews of war, is the best progress indicator. It's not a linear progress but it's the best we have.

They should know by now their production rate. We can also do the math ourselves: last update they made 3600 render in 12 months I think. It's 300 per month, a very good output. They planned for the update to be smaller, but we can't be sure how much without good planning, and things evolved during development. So as of today they should have produced 2100 renders. We then should have a better look at their work.

There will always be dissatisfied and impatient people no matter what, who will ask "when update" every week.

I personally don't like to see render count during devlogs cause I rather be disappointed in playing a short update than disappointed before playing it when they announce a release date and it has a small amount of renders.

I agree that the quality of these games are really good ( or at least the ones I play). I by no means want to rush the devs if anything I wish I was rich so I could subsidize it a bit and they could add some quality talent to help in production but I would imagine even with an endless budget you would still run into issues more than likely people not being on the same page or conflicts in the work flow. I really need to pick up more games to play ( I say more games I have like 15 downloaded but I only really mess with like 5 of them); so there is less down time between games. My problem is I like the games so much I tend to burn through an update in like 1 to 2 days then I got to wait. That is on me but when you get into the stories it's a lot of fun. There are like 3 or 4 games I would put their story up there with triple A games just my opinion.

Sorry I kind of just went on for a while but the crux of it is I would never want to rush a dev. Quality is better than quantity imo and if you only care about quantity I am sure there are games out there that would cater to that.

It depends a lot on the person's character and whether the developer is greedy or not, even if you and I were rich and invested heavily in the game, what guarantee would we have of the game having updates, big and in less time?
I'm going to use as an example the developer of a hugely successful 2D game, he makes millions a year but the game isn't finished yet and what's more, it's apparently being remade.

Also going off the topic of dev cycles and certain characters plot progression (taking all AVN general norms into consideration) I’m having some trouble forming rough predictions for the upcoming update. I feel like based off of the current feelings with Bree, Sophie and more than likely Eve, we know what we’re getting (roughly).

Eve and Ms. Hill have me thinking a bit more though. Eve has shown interest in us and we have even shared our “assets” with each other but I’m not sold that we get anything more than a kiss this go around.

I personally really enjoyed the exchange with Ms. Hill at night and there were certainly some moments she displayed interest (commenting on my dick size, compliments and calling handsome and taking peaks at mc). The common prediction is we see her bare tits and maybe share a kiss. Maybe it’s my innate pessimism but I’m not feeling confident about any of that either.

What do you guys think?

In this update the developers said that it would be focused on the 5 protagonists, realistically, it will have a lot of dialogue and the girls will tell their stories, I think it will be an update with little sexual content and that will make many people complain about the wait.

Predictions:
1. Bree handjob
2. Eve kiss
3. Flashback about the past of Mia
4. Ms. Hill breasts while she changes clothes
5. Body rub with Sophie

I would like but it's not going to happen: Nude Eve

Perhaps it is little pessimistic, but it is better this way than being hugely disappointed, we must also keep in mind that until now most of the sexual content was at night, and this update seems to occur during the day, perhaps only in 0.9 will we reach the night of day 2.

It would be nice to play whoever gets the most predictions right.:ROFLMAO:

Oh well, if you're right. I guess it's back to the club and Jenni or visit Cassie if I wanna have fun in the next update.

You have very pessimistic forecasts. I think there will still be more than some kind of "hug"

Honestly the only thing im hoping for is maybe a bit more backstory of Bree if I recall correctly we only heard a bit about it from Sophie but not Bree. Other than that I just want to spend time with Bree as well I don't care what lewds we get at all in this update.

As far as other girls go id like to help Eve with her problems a bit more and maybe that will lead to some fun time. Mia not sure tho I don't care for Mia. Sophie I can honestly see a drunk Sophie and Bree scene at some point even if it's not in this update other than that no idea.

more than being pissed off at the devs for taking their time, i am pissed off at us looking at those progress bars as if you can stare them for long enough and all of a sudden, youll unlock a dragon shout power. they can make upgrades every once a year for all i care, or once every two years..... thats not the point i was trynna make.
im saying their method of showing progress is broken and holds no meaning at all and for us to sit here staring at it, hoping itll give us an idea of where tings are like is akin to hoping for bree to win an iq test against a rock.
