Do you know how many render he does every two week?
Everything he's willing to share he publishes is the dev logs :)
So I can only make conclusions based on this.

There was a period when he made 1750 renders in two months which gives ~30 renders per day (but that's only SG without WiAB)
There were his benchmarks of the new workstation with the result:
"From now on, I aim for 70 renders a day, but I won't beat myself up if it's "only" 40-50."

Ofc, I think he overestimates as always, there are other tasks that take time, but to complete 3000 static renders in three months by the mid to end of the August he need to make "only" ~35 renders per day.

I know at least several devs who work with similar or even faster speed and produce ~300 renders per week. Yeah, their pictures aren't as advanced as Ocean's and doesn't contain dozens of characters in a single render. But they look pretty decent, pretty close in quality, 8K resolution and high quality character models.
EDIT: I mean they do it without any harm to the other aspects of the game, like writing the script, coding and other...

So it's doable, but with WiAB releasing at the same time and other ongoing activities like creating cinematics or testing and learning new software and animation tricks - I don't know.

Thanks. He's currently sitting at 5100 renders (last post on discord). 40 renders per day, it's 480 every 12 days. Since he's fully focused on SG now, I think optimistically, Q3 is indeed doable.

What's with the uptick in criticism in this and WiaB threads in the last week? Doesn't feel organic, feels more like a brigade.

We know that WiaB is in testing and SG is sitting at 7000+ renders and a number of animations, developed roughly the same duration (12-16 months) as other big titles is coming in the next few months. Yet people are pitching a fit that it's not coming at a pace they deem acceptable.

Chill the fuck out.
Ocean's threads have always been like this. They seem to attract the most special people in the entire zone. In the WiAB thread on the day of Chapter 3's release, a couple of hours before the release, they were still convincing each other that he couldn't do it and would postpone the release until next year. They got on the mods' nerves so much that they even made a separate off-topic thread for them to whine about. But they weren't interested - there wasn't enough audience in the off-topic thread to watch their shit show.
Just just wait 'till the last two weeks before the release of the new update. Morons Like AlexFR and others of this kind will go on a rampage here just for sake of...
... bullshit?

That was noticeable on both games, with past updates.

That animation is some quality work. But I'd agree that 8k renders for a single update is a bit of a stretch, he also probably knows that.
Yes, he is well aware of that, and was this even before the start of the development of S2.

The reason for this monster of a season start is, that Ocean plans to put it directly on steam. The mind play was, that the following chapters will be released as extra dlc for a lower price. At least was this the plan shortly after the steam release of season 1, currently I'm not really active on his discord but iirc this was also communicated open in discord in the past, and not only in a DM between him and me.
