Yea, forgot about that, turned that down because not really interested in the MC doing dudes. but regardless, for a shapeshifter he really has not been exploiting his shapeshifting abilities for personal gain. There was that cheerleader he learned that liked fat dudes and he was thinking of turning into one to seduce her into sleeping with him, only for it to be forgotten and later he just sleeps with her in his normal form. Then he never used the jocks form to sleep with his girlfriend, but he has no problem going to the gloryhole to get sucked by her, so morals is not a factor here. On a related note, he can turn into people he has devoured in mind and body, but he never uses it. Would be nice to see him try to infiltrate a group, so he kills and devours someone and has to pretend to be him, but to get close to the people up top, he has to do this for a while, so he has to interact with the dead guys family, friends, etc causing interesting situations.

Just would like to see him use his shapeshifting used for personal gain instead of just fighting.

So, I am wondering why jake suddenly caused mia to bleed from her face instead of just forget. That was a very spectacular way for his powers to suddenly fail.
He has been trained by Elle for a while and was freely altering people's memories with no issue until that point.
So why the sudden explosive failure?
Also why did Ella order him to target the MC's roomate like that?
And Ella was literally there at the beach with the MC, Jake, Mia, and the roomate.

Maybe Jake failed due to his emotions running out of control or Mia being special.
But I have a hypothesis that Ella actually sabotaged things by using her own powers on mia and the roomate first because she wants to setup the MC and jake to fight each other. As she has clearly been doing before such as when she assumes the MC's form and insults and berates Jake.

I believe she is hoping one of them eats the other and combines both the physical and mental powers in a single individual.
This is based on the bad end where Ella finds out the MC mental powers and goes something like "so you were actually perfect all along!" and then takes you with her to go after some really high level monsters but ends up encountering monster gods who nom both of you.

It was one of the news stories where the mc hears an interview and the guy says he saw a big boobed snake lady drag a guy in the sewers. Then you later on see Ella fighting as a snake creature against the guy with a big sword.

Also, as a reminder when Jake tries to suggest something to you but he keels over causing Mia to look after him and cancel your study session? He says his head is throbbing with a severe migraine. That's what I think happened to Mia.

I was just saying that I think the specific mechanics of it are a bit different based on the in game explanation on how mental clashes work.

Mental clashes are explained in game. There is a scene the player sees (but the MC does not see in character) of Jake training with Ella where she warns him to not try to use his powers on her or he will die regardless of her own intent.

She explained to him that when he tries to use his powers on a superhuman than their own power will automatically fight back instinctively even if the superhuman consents, barring exceptional circumstances. And in such a clash her energy will kill him due to her greater strength. With subtlety and the ability to detect the intrusion counting as well, not just the different in level.

When he tries to use his powers on the MC after the MC undergoes an evolution he gets a severe headach due to that automatic clash of powers. And that was when he was being subtle about it.

BTW I think the last update is trying to setup a cleaner handling for the Jake situation where the multiple branching in that relationship is simplified. I believe that depending on how you have been developing the relationship thus far there would be two paths to choose from:
A. You kill him. Potentially eat him too.
B. Jake realizes he completely blew it with Mia. He undergoes a redemption arc that involves him being booted from the love triangle but with potential to make amends... but even so will never regain the trust lost.

I think all other branches have really been killed off here. And B might not be an option either as it might just always go towards you killing him

Erm...think about it...why could ella want your best friend and roommate to submit to her will? Especially if that guy has access to the best lab and your dna?

He didnt fail...he evolved while breaking a friends mind...the difference to you was you embraced it in order to survive, but he was terrified and lost control, at least partially...i hope the dev decides to let her recover, right now it looks more like he crushed her brain instead of her memory...
And i dont think she tries to setup a fight, she spreads those pills to create more hybrids...its just not sure if she wants an army or if she wants to absorb them after developing useful features. We are more the physical fighting type, just like herself so pretty useless for her, jake is more the mentalist, much stronger than herself (otherwise she wouldnt make deals to get what she wants, she would just order them to to it and her excuse she would destroy him by reflex if he tried to force control over her mind is imho a lie to prevent him from doing it)...if she manages to control a stupid idiot that controls others, she gains a steady flow of testsubjects...and if the control stays after transformation she has a loyal army...the mission was loyalty to ella, not to him...and he was stupid enough to do it right away...
Fact is she cant control you, he cant control you either (yet) so she must make sure you dont team up against her...if he tells you ella trains him since months and what he can do...well, it could trigger the memories to come back, he stripped your girls, he messed with your memory more than once, ...and if she wants to absorb him it would be a bad idea to let him enrage you...i still hope to absorb that asshole for messing with my girls...

Considering the whole time Ella has been playing both of them off one another and going so far as to use her shapeshifting powers to further drive a wedge between them I think this is the logical conclusion. She wants a fight between them. For what reason I'm not sure but I get the feeling she wants the MC to win.

So I don't really think she's trying to breed a strong superhuman for her to consume later on. Unless she's completely unaware of the risks, I don't really see her being dumb enough to attempt something so dangerous.

On a similar note, I don't think the MC will be able to kill Jake in a traditional sense if it comes to that, I'm going out on a whim and saying that his powers will give him an advantage in the aforementioned mental battle.

I dont kill girls i want in my harem, so i dont know what you were talking about before, but i think ella knows the risks pretty well and has higher goals...much higher goals. We saw 3 evolutions, 2 own and jakes in the end, they all have mental messages in foreign language in common, we even saw a vision of "mother"...i think that all evolutions are pretty similar, fragments of memory, maybe even some hive mind that connects you with the monsters you see in your dreams. We learned the source is or was on the moon. So it could be everything between an invasion and an emergency call...
We know for sure ella is more evolved, maybe she understands the message/language already, is remotely controlled by "mother" to spread the infection or want to overpower and absorb her/it...or its even simpler, she could have been a testsubject by doc xanthe herself and wants revenge, but is to weak to break through his guards...this would allow both ways, absorbing powers or forming an army.

If i remember correctly you can absorb dead people as well...so it would be easy to kill him first and absorb his dna, memory and skills then...it didnt work with kenny because he was like ella said a failure, you could do it anyway, but then you get the dead end because you lose your mind too, but it should work with a more or less sane victim...and we are still a evolution step ahead him.

That's the 2nd Dead End in her apartment. The one where you both die is the 1st. You have sex with her after while at Power 6 when fighting. The MC tells her about his jelly fish ability and such. You then meet that strong monster after and get one shotted as she has a mental breakdown.

To be honest, i don't think Mia has powers and I don't think she ever should. It's already bad enough with jake. Having Mia, who can't fight as well, just puts a target on her back to everything out there. Sure the dev could write it and not make her a damsel but then i would ask what's the point? Just so she can be special? As for Jake, he most likely just panicked from fear of her telling and distress once he realized he was hurting her more than he thought.

I don't think Ella is planning to devour any of our powers. Her abilities are already broken. She can see our exact level and other secret details. She also displayed the ability to darken the sky when we followed her. Why would she want Jake's ability? She's already manipulative as hell without them .

She's also pretty random. Especially with her affection. She obviously likes the MC, like a lot. Yet at the same time she keeps trying to create chaos for them. Whatever her goal is i don't think it has anything to do with killing the MC. We know she needs jake to infiltrate where Alexis and Clark base is at but he's too weak. That's the only reason, i think, she's in a rush to have him evolve because he still has to meet them.

I'll say it really depends on how the next update starts. I'll admit, I'm a bit disappointed the MC still somehow hasn't figured out jake has powers. Even after evolving he was partially effect by him when you're talking with him in the hall with Mia. Though jake suffers backlash it still a bit too convenient that the MC still doesn't question it.

Same here, he should feel it like any other hybrid. And his own mental abilities should not only guard him, but his memories as well.
Not really, his active powers didnt work at all because your own mental abilities grew with your evolution as well, he got his headache right away. But his passive defensive power worked well. His aura slowly removes suspicious memories. We encountered it a few times, his other mindfuck victims as well, every time he tries/uses his powers his victims forgot about it. The girls at the party were under his suggestion ability and forgot it like intended, but not you, you just ran into it, startled him and he failed to influence you with his "go away" command, but in the end you still forgot about it after he vanished. Same with his newest failed attempt, he was already gone and deryl asked where mia went, then you told him she escorted jake because he felt unwell...and just after this statement you forgot it and were unsure about what just happend.

Did anyone actually say she wants to eat mc/jake?
I have seen two theories:
1. she is looking to raise allies/minions and is trying to get MC to devour jake or vice versa to create a suitable companion
2. she is looking to devour a greater monster is trying to create a specific bait (that she hopes an MC/jake hybrid will be) as part of her plan to lure and trap that monster.

I have not seen any theories that posit she wants to eat the MC or eat jake to steal their power.
