Why would there be any enthusiasm now. Will be a minimum 2 months after the Loser update before another release. Heard the dev had a holiday mixed in with the Loser time allocation as well, so it has been cooking for longer this time too.

I am optimistic / hopeful about this one. I loved the idea of the first one, but it didn't quite get there.

I actually like the grinding... I don't want to blow through the whole game and unlock all the scenes in a couple of days.

The biggest issues with the first one were it was a little unwieldy, like the UI/interface and the way they handled everything was more complicated than it needed to be. It took me FOREVER to figure out you had to get the letter of recommendation for logistics THEN wait for the right day and time to like get driven to the logistics office just for them to say OK you can work now, before I could actually start working. Same thing with the superpower shots and overly complex system of like all these different reputational currencies.

I would like to see this new version have better graphics, including really good animated H scenes (that was one of the biggest let downs of the first game - all that work and then you start getting to H scenes and they are just a few lame stills.)

Yeah complete lack of enthusiasm from the community by the dates between these posts says all I need to see.

Tell em what they've lost Johnny
I mean, I'll most likely still end up playing the game eventually, in 1-1,5 years when there is enough content to bother with it. It covers a very niche theme (superhero setting that isn't a parody of existing IP) so it will likely still be (one of) the best the site has to offer for that niche.

My issue is mostly with the dev doubling down on grindy mechanics that remain grindy even when using cheats to cut the grind down. At least for me the actual content (scenes, writing, art etc.) of the games has never been the problem, just the mechanics that make actually playing the game a chore at times.

Not the person but my problem with these dice rolls are that alot of the checks currently you need to be lucky or grind to a absurd degree to even start. Extra dices and modifiers for a ~15%(kinda of a random number but it probably lower on avg) chance to succeed as currently stands is kinda wild. Maybe when its more fleshed out it wont be as punishing I kinda actually like the dice roll system but needing to get +3 and/or trigger dice explosion for just for the chance of seeing content.

Shit if you could add a dice to any roll per day that would make me feel alot better about it.
Regarding the grind, this dev likes grindy games and makes grindy games. His responses over the years to the frequent complaints of his games being too grindy is that he considers the grind gameplay and won't be removing it. Although he has been willing to add various Quality Of Life improvements that make the grind less annoying at times. I usually play his games through once normally, grind and all, and then use cheats from there on out (If I can't use an old save) for repeat playthroughs for new updates. However you have to be careful using cheats as they are prone to missing content if you cheat stuff up too high too fast.

Regarding the high requirements for dice rolls, right now the mechanics for gaining skills, stats, and powers are not fully implemented. Once they are implemented, I assume there will be more efficient ways to raise skills and stats to make it not quite so grindy.

And I believe there will also be a larger range of activities to do, some that don't require such high dice roll checks to succeed, as more of the game world and content is added in. If he is using his same philosophy from Loser (the other game he is currently working on) then the stuff around the home is supposed to be later game content that you tackle once you have higher level skills/stats while the earlier game content is the characters the player isn't related to.

Although as far as the powers go, I think he is going to stick with the mechanic of only being able to have a limited number of powers selected for each day even if you are able to gain a larger number of total possible powers to select from. So part of the gameplay will be to select the right combination of powers to maximize the success rate of the things you want to focus on for that day.

All he had to do was port the old game mechanics to the new game. Granted I cheated on that one two. But this dice roll shit is ridiculous. And if you haven't played loser. IT SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCKKKKSSSSSS BALLS
In a bad way

My advice to anyone subbing to this guy for super powered.
Unsub
These guys only wake up when their sub counts go low.

I said this on another post. Someone just put out a one off of Simbro. So I went and looked at Simbros page on patreon. It still has 207 followers and like $150 a month in subs.
That's the bar. If you can't match a Dev who has been dead since 2018. You need to re-evaluate your choices in life

I have a hypothesis. The general interest with the cuck content and the amount of people who are supporting inactive devs are related.

Just like with all the devs games, the actual content isn't the problem, nor really the basic idea of the mechanics... Just that it's unnecessarily grindy, at least last time I checked. Permanent topics you gain later on cut down the grindiness a ton later on, but honestly consumed AND inventory-limited topics should've never been a thing in the first place...

The actual idea of manipulating the other characters' interests to alter their personality and actions itself is a very interesting idea and makes the actual content pretty good IMHO. Shame it takes so much time to actually see said content.

any news ????????
According to what the dev last said it will be at least 3-4 months.

He is working on 2 games and his theoretical dev schedule is to alternate working for 2 months on each game and release a version to the public after those 2 months. So each game should get a new version reased approximately every 4 months or so.

But he ran into some technical difficulties with his other game he is working on now, Loser, and is a month late for that one. He is trying to get that released as soon as he is able. Since he went a month over on Loser he is going to give an extra month to Superpowered 2 as well.

So currently the plan is that Loser will be released as soon as possible, and then the next version of Superpowered 2 should be released 3 months after that. That is the current plan anyway.

Yeah, this is why I stopped supporting the dev with my money. This is actually Superpowered 3. The first one was made with the old Java system. He progressed enough that the MC had finished school, was working a superhero job at airport security, and banging a decent amount of women. He wasn't happy with that so he started using Ren'Py. It was okay at first, but he kept adding more and more game mechanics, making things more grindy, and making updates come slower and slower as he had to spend time updating all the paths for all the mechanics he was putting into the game. He's even stated in the past that he doesn't want to make a porn game, he wants to make a game that has some porn in it. So that aparently means lots of mechanics, lots of grind, little rewarding content to justify it. Fast forward to 2023 and the point came where Ren'py couldn't deal with the spaghetti code he had built up over the years, so on we move to Unity at square one. With this rate of progress in the game, I expect the players will be able to graduate from highschool again in 2038.

And now Unity shooted it's legs using BFG, so many "terribly active" devs have another excuse for "need a breake to think things over" nonsense.
He should have just restart his renpy game from scratch to polish it's code and reuse assets... but nooo: let me show you how I greate at not understanding Unity (or any other engine).
Wonderful.

From the Wiki page : ( )

you need a Rags player also I don't really recommend the game lol mostly cause there is little (no?) feedback one what stats your skills are affecting iirc. I remember mostly spamming options until they worked. It also uses RL models

The Loser update was released, so the dev should start working on the next update for this game now.

The last statement from the dev I am aware of said he planned on giving the next Superpowered 2 update 12 weeks of development time rather than the normal 8 weeks, but that may have changed as that statement is a bit old.

Dev: Dude, why does the UI for all your games have to be so goddamn ugly? Don't you have eyes or don't you play any other games? Or maybe you believe it's still year 2003? There are literally dozens of better UI concepts out there, if you can't make one (and oh boy, you really can't), just rip something off.
