It's "Abandoned" in the sense that it's been a long enough amount of time since the last update for the tag to be added to tell new people coming to the thread that it hasn't been updated for a while and to not expect this to change in the near future, not necessarily that all progress on it has ceased. There have been a lot of (unofficial) teasers over the year, but given that there's still no tangible window or timeframe that the next version will come around, it'll stay tagged as Abandoned here.

You'd need to find a way to hack Adobe AIR onto your device. Since Adobe AIR was discontinued on Linux distros in 2011, predating major OS-level changes done to Arch Linux (the Linux distro that SteamOS is derived from). Anything Linux is way out of my wheelhouse, so if you have the diligence and penchant for tech wizardry, it'll probably be a fun adventure of wrangling dependencies and deprecated software for you.
