The game is kinda finished, the games real intention was "Text based" so the art was unnecessary some people would say. The art is 80% done i think, Chapter 4 & 5 still have no art. Maybe over a year or two will be done all.
if you keep asking this kinda question again, most people will criticize you for not liking the game for what it is Or they just say "People don't play this game for the porn"... A LOT of Die hard fan boys told me that over the years, again and again.

As someone who only heard about the game a few days ago, this is interesting info.
I think I would have enjoyed the game nontheless, but the art adds much to the game instead of taking it away.
Like when people argue that the game 'Another World' ('Out of this World') is supposed to have no music, since it's the main vision of the dev.
But I think the added music add much to the small setpieces this game offers, and pure silence would be kinda boring... atmospheric, but boring.

I guess even if I would be a 'die hard fanboy', I would never argue about the inclusion of art.
I mean, it's a picture that's added to the text, nothing is lost and it even can be turned off.

Don't forget the part where the game is free.
Like yeah, there is Patreon and you can pay on itch.io whatever you want... but the game is still effectively free.
And even if it's crap art (which it isn't at all, just the faces can be kinda samey), it can still be turned off.

And there is nothing wrong adding things to a game, no matter how many people are pleased, as long as it doesn't take away from anything else.
I mean, every option in existence is designed that way.
A toggle for 'Chromatic Aberration' and 'Depth of Field', cause you think your game doesn't look bad enough?
Well, someone will like it.

I don't say people shouldn't complain when a game is effectively free.
But complaining about how the game is shaped with added optional stuff is kinda nonsensical.

Plus, it absolutely 100% doesn't appear that the art is an afterthought.
Again, without reading it here, I would have thought it's simply part of the game from day 1, so it isn't just added sloppily.

This is the first time I've read this nonsense.
First, having an external source is only used in very old DRPGs, like 'Wizardry', because the handbook contains descriptions for the spells and stats and what not... things the game itself doesn't provide, but which are needed to know, in order to play the game propperly.

Second, and I can't stress this enough, that even if you are right (you ain't, don't fight it), the external source should NEVER be a whole walkthrough.
It would be different if the game would come with an actual useful manual, explaining how hidden stats work etc. pp..
But a whole walkthrough?
Sorry, but no... I don't think there is a single RPG, or any other game, where the walkthrough is an integral part of the design.
A walkthrough, I might add, written by different people other than the dev(s).

EDIT: And when an external source is used (NOT WALKTHROUGH), than it's for some experimental games, where you look for information elsewhere.
Or these... don't know the name... rare games where the experience is about multiple people figuring something out, with a game so cryptic, you can't possible beat it on your own.

Wait what? Potions cost from 50 Sx, you get a bunch for free and it's not unusual to have thousands of Sx on hand. There are a few hard fights, especially in the optional challenges, but if you're running out of Sx spending on potions you're not using the tools available to you.

For me the combat as a hole is difficult I need to use potions almost every fight. I have mental disabilities so it what it is. This games balance is not as easy as you all think it is. Limited resources and items makes it even harder for those of us that cant figure out the combat system. Other wise I like the game and the story but I do not enjoy the combat.

This is what i tought in my first playthrough, but i manage to understand the combat, basicly, do this:

1. Always have mana potions, they are way more important that healing potions, not only because defeating the enemys with only the default attack is counterproductive, but because the healer of the party can mantain everyone alive and clean status effects as long as you have enough mana potions.

2. Be efficient and use the abilities depending of the enemy type and numbers, for example, at the start it is a good idea to either stund or kill the bees because they cause poison damage, if there are 2 bees and 1 wolf, use your first turns to target the bees.

3. Make sure to either buy or find items that make you inmune to status effects attacks, this point is very important, you wont be able to defeat some bosses because they will constantly hit you with anoying status effect attacks.

4. Kill many or the majority of enemys that cross your path, this game does not have a respawn function (there are some execptions but they are inconsequencial), this is to make sure you are a high level character, wich helps.

Basically this is it, it is not rocket science.

Ya'll are giving far more weight to the hidden variables then they deserve as well. Yes if you don't look up stuff you can't optimize, but unless you're just playing like a complete contrarian (choosing things Simon wouldn't normally do, intentionally ignoring talking to people when given a chance, not interacting with or trying to be balanced in systems such as research/investments, etc.) then you will almost always get at least the 3rd best outcome.

Most things have 4-6 possible outcomes with the first basically being bragging rights/used a guide it gives the best rewards but not substantially more than the second, being smartly playing into the story. The third usually won't give you bonus rewards, but will also not generally give negative consequences either and the ones after that generally will have those negatives. Getting through the game completely blind with a mix of rank 2-3 outcomes is entirely doable as long as you actually play into the story. You will be weaker than someone doing an optimized run, but having done a mostly optimized run the game gets really trivial towards the end anyway if you've got everyone rocking BiS with nearly every possible bonus.

'Save777' creates itself when you start the game, and renaming it to any other save leads to a crash when you simply hover over the file.
'Save666' does absolutely nothing when renamed as a loadable file, and it's an empty file without a single char, and you can't load it.

That's why the game is generally so well balanced, cause it already takes into account the worst possible outcome of quests.
I hate to play the 'Doom' card again, but it's like when levels aren't designed around secrets.
They might make your life easier, but the levels are perfectly beatable without finding a single one.

Cause oh boy, this is the first point where I feel incredibly frustrated, simply because the game wants me to follow... whatever the hell happened here, treating it like "just be clever".
But no... I'm not clever, I feel like an 8-year old, trying to win 4D chess.

Politics in general are not an easy theme, and now the game throws around names for each fantasy country with all these guys voting for stuff and I should be able to influence the votes.
Yeah no... no way in hell I'm following all the mental gymnastics that happen here.
Following a guide would be dumb, cause I wanna understand what's going on here.
The vote for opening the vault was utterly destroyed, cause apparently, I didn't follow 25 specific steps on the way.

I've only managed to clear the port... which leads to my frustration.
In order to experiment with all the choices, to see if I can get a better outcome here and there, I have to do so much stuff in between.
And I know the game is designed with different outcomes in mind, and maybe I do better in the next playthrough... where it's a gamble again with some frustrating fights in between, just to see the outcome.
But it isn't treated as a gamble, cause everything makes sense... for people who can wrap their head around.
I can't, I'm lost, and the gap between your first choice and the final votes are 1-2 hours.

I enjoy playing my own music in the background of large scale games such as these which often re-use the same tracks a lot, is the soundtrack of this game considered remarkable enough to let it seep into my background brain or will I not be missing out on too much? I presume you mean the Ardford summit.
Some of the votes aren't changeable. There are three where your actions and choices can lead to the votes succeeding or failing. With a guide such as

or note taking and some analysis it's possible to get the optimum result on all three, provided you made a particular investment earlier. Without that investment, only one, though you can choose which. This is a game where your decisions matter.

If you like the story and want good results more than making your own choices full walkthroughs are available such as

. But you'll only ever get one blind play.

Personally, I suggest running with whatever you got and carrying on. You'll still get a good story.

Ah. You might want to use a save editor to give your characters more stats in that case to let you power through (just add stats, not levels - sometimes level gets checked and being higher than is actually possible at that point in the game has negative effects). I'd describe the overall combat difficulty as moderate - status effects and resistances are important for both you and the enemy but you don't ever need to chain particular skill combinations from different characters together. Alternatively, there are videos and written strategies for pretty much every enemy available.
