There is no trump card, nor a backdoor.
She's death, we are at her funeral, her body is there, which we can clearly see and her remains get burned viking style.
-The End-

The purpose of her death is quite clear, it's escalating the conflict with the templars.
To be fair, we only see her body if we're on Medb's path. It's not entirely unreasonable to doubt her death when it's hearsay from a potentially unreliable narrator.

That said, I very much doubt there's any sort of backdoor planned here. Revealing the whole thing was a big misunderstanding - or worse, undoing it with the atomic-powered can of worms that is time travel - would gut the emotional core of this chapter and call into question any future drama Ceolag might attempt. And, of course, we do see the body if we get the final scene of the chapter.

Seems pretty cut and dry that what happened happened. All we can do now is honor Finnabair's memory.

ikr im still sad when I think about it she had potential to be in my top 5 AVN character list. NGL im mostly planning to side with the Elfs and let the Templars burn because of Finnabair

I think it was good to let her die. Players would demanding her as a LI and Ceo would never hear the end of it. I liked her too and was upset about her dead, but I think she fulfilled her role in this story and one big part of this role is to die by the hands of Templars (or someone else who wants a war between Álfar and Templars) after the son of the Grandmaster of the Templars got an emotional bond with her.

Honestly yes.
She, in what little time she had, was most honest and pure relationship MC had so far.
It wasn't based on any lies, deception, pushes and pulls, no, just proper development.

I consider her the best girl in this VN so far. It's actually incredible how much I liked that one.
So what happened sucks, but it is what it is, Ceolag did great job with love and loss in this chapter.

referring to this:

Or am I looking at the wrong spot?
The whole reason I added that text is because so many people miss it and it's an important part given what Queen Mab says to you about the 'escort' being uneccessary ;)

Guys, I don't know if this question has already been asked, but do you think that there is a chance that Finnabair will live forever somewhere in Valhalla?

I only just yesterday noticed that this game had been updated, as I was reading comments here about a character I had never heard of. So the ending of the update was spoiled for me, but I enjoyed it anyways. I'm not mad about the spoilers, as it's been a month since the update, so some spoilers are to be expected at this point.

The fact that the developers gave us a choice that would skip about 95% of the new content is really impressive. I've read a lot of comments from different developers who refuse to do that in their games because they're afraid people would complain about short updates or whatever. I went back and took the short route after my first play to see what would actually happen, and now I'm tempted to keep a separate save to see how that choice would affect the future routes. The short route had a conversation with a character who otherwise wouldn't speak with you, and the whole thing was well done. The branching choice itself seemed reasonable at the time, so it definitely should exist even though one route is clearly the intended (and better) path.

Since you are not a Templar what could they do if you told Elea?
Sweet F...King nothing
Kill her themselves?
Stand by while someone else kills her, not giving a shit?

They've already stated people that find out about Neverwhere are often killed by other agencies, and Templars don't care one bit about that, even if it's innocents.

That in mind, if Ceolag gives an option, I'm telling Elea everything, every last thing (well, almost everything. She doesn't need to know details of what happened by the lake with Finnabair).
She's already investigating stuff that will get here there eventually, might as well give her all the info that might potentially save her life in the future, instead of slowly stumbling in the dark.

If that creates even larger rift with family and templars (Kaija included), all the sweeter.

I think another major contribution Finnabair made to the story was serving as a key to Medb's interest and growing intimacy (even if it just emotional intimacy right now).

Showing mercy to Finnabair ends up saving the life of Medb's daughter, something we only find out about at the end of the chapter when the MC attends the Alfar farewell ceremony for Finnabair.

The MC, by his actions, shows that he is worthy of Medb sharing a very emotional memory (of her human brother).

As a mother, she is very aware of how the MC turned Finnabair's attitude towards humanity from hate to friendship in less than two months. Finnabair shares a great deal with Medb, and with the more casual attitude about nudity and sex, I suspect that she shared how the human got naked and took a bath while she was present.

Is there a level of casual 'girl talk' between the two women where Finnabair shares more about the growing dynamic between she and the MC?

Conjecture but I believe so (she certainly shared that the MC called Medb a bitch and Medb was semi-playful in telling the MC Not to call her that again).

I also think she shared parts of the trip to her secret pool and perhaps hinted that she and the MC shared more than swimming together. The fact that she is happy and that she really liked that time spent with the MC would not be lost on Medb.

I'm hoping for more conversation with Medb when the MC must leave Alfheimr and, perhaps, even a way to reach her if it is important (and, OC, not to be shared with the Templars - another opportunity to build trust).

So - more nuances to look forward to, and early in the next chapter - Medb/Ailill sharing thoughts on the trip from Alfheimr to Neverwhere (Medb if we are lucky).

Cheers!! :coffee:

Huh ? where, are you refering the convo with Linnae in the "Templars pub" ?
Can't remember which conversation it was, but it definitely was mentioned during one of them that people who find out about Neverwhere are sometimes killed. Think it was mentioned during one of chats with Kaija?
Could be wrong.
I'm too lazy to download VN again, waiting on Steam release, would get screenshot otherwise.

Just to clear it out, don't think Templars themselves would kill her, that was just a small jab in their direction.
Would they interfere if someone else went after her? Nah, they don't care.
