Was this intentional or just how the game naturally developed?

Just how things develop. Rogue is the first and most "natural" girl for dating from a narrative perceptive. First you come across, girl assigned to help you, study partner, powers make things fit better (make you immune to her so she can touch), etc.
Laura is the next girl introduced and your physical conditioning instructor.
Jean shows up last because she is busy doing X-Men things.

I'm sure the official line would be "there is no favoritism, you shape the story, and all choices are valid" which is true, but the story as it is does have certain things naturally fit cleaner in order.

I'd assume Storm, Kitty, Dazzler if I remember right from comics. Kitty and Dazzler are only like one or two issues apart so they are pretty much at the same time so it could go either way.

Out of curiosity, do you know which update that's planned for? Or is it still up in the air?

Likely 0.9 if the writers are merciful towards me and you. Though life happens, such as Mad getting busy. You can expect them before 1.1 because I'm gonna be getting feedback on how platonic quirks work for the first 3 girls before we move onto the next 3.

From what I read, I was under the impression that the quirks being available on the girls' platonic routes was what is disabled. Reading through your responses made it sound like everything is all still there, and all you have to do is flip a few variables to reenable the quirks for platonic routes, that's what I was referring to there. I probably could have worded that message a little more clearly, but alas.

You've got the right of it as far as I am aware.

People thought the content was being removed. It's just locked behind dating them. Also yes, it is as simple as flipping a few variables.

The platonic routes never existed because we wrote the quirks with dating the girls in mind.

We're adding in platonic routes.

Please know culturally I live under a rock and while yes, I could google it. I much prefer learning of it from actual fellow humans instead of a quick blerb on.. Urban Dictionary or something.

It doesn't really have a specific origin based off of a specific source or thing.

It's sort of a play on righteous indignation over degenerate acts by using the more innocent signs of affection like hand holding.
A sort of role reversal for comedy where lewd or other things unacceptable in public are given a pass.
People tend to censor the hand holding as part of the joke or as a way to poke fun at over-censorship of media.

A combination of mediums, Anime mostly, where internal thoughts show the dilemma of the couple in question wondering about if their relationship is at the point of holding hands...
there are also a couple of western examples too, usually initiated by the lady, to show others that they are a couple.
