your saves can't be gone, because they are stored in AppData. Either you cleaned AppData or the game has no permission to access AppData now.

It is a difference if you play on Android or on Windows/Mac/Linux.

Unzip the update somewhere > copy the www folder > paste it on your out-of-date game folder > overwrite everything
