Usually you download a .var file (or multiple .var files).
You have to put them into your VAM folder, in the 'AddonPackages' subfolder.

The subscription only matters if you are into that AI stuff.
VamX itself does not get a lot of updates. You can grab the most recent or second last version from here somewhere.

Out of the automatic behavior plugins that do things like gaze management, breathing, responses and expressions, which one is the best? I just tried out Body Language and it seems pretty cool but I would love to check out others.

How about automated "animations"? Is it still generally best to use something like auto thruster or clockwise silver thruster and divining rod?

My favorite looks are petite 18+ looks, and I tend to like things that are a little stylized. Some of my favorite creators are VariousScientists, Geoxslayer, LucyV3d and VRDollz. Anyone have any recommendations for other creators to check out? I would kill for some of DumbKoala's models that he uses but I imagine he's never shared them.

I use Alive v34 + Emotion (latest version) + Body Language.
You can also use body language for thrusts and such.

So you use all three of them together, huh? I did notice that the female character will automatically thrust when being penetrated while using Body Language, I tried to look for how I could control the behavior but it wasn't immediately apparent which part of the plugin that control was under.

Yes.
I tweaked all 3 of them quite a bit. Expressions may overlap and will look weird if you use them together with stock settings. Set the joy scale to 0 in BL, and use morph and auto movement from emotion. You can use the gaze from BL's "pose me" plugin or the one from emotion. Don't use both.
Alive also has the best auto reactions. She looks sad or mad for a second when you slap her for example.
I could do a tutorial (Its really not much to set up) and or post a video how it will look.

Body language is probably the best overall.

But I also like to use multiple plugins (Life + Vammoan + Glance + ClockwiseSilver.ExpressionToolPlus...). This gives me much more control. Most appearances will look awful if the expression morphs are set too high.

I attached my PluginPreset. See if it works (put in ...VAM\Custom\Atom\Person\Plugins). You will need to download all the plugins, of course.

For looks, see if you like Callimohu. Also check picovam (you can get the morphs from the characters and apply them at 0.1~0.3 strenght to another one to make them look more japanese and younger). The skins also look pretty good, not sure.

Do I just download that package, plug n play? Or do I have to spend time in tweaking and installing plugins etc.

I kinda just wanna see how it looks in VR, dont wanna spend hours to get 1 scene running buggy and unoptimized

Download VAM from here or from official sources, use the codes from here, find a free VAR from the hub or paid VARs from here using the search function (if you just want to see how it looks real quick, choose one or two, don't go crazy downloading stuff at first) and put VARs in your addon packages folder. Then go into VAM, open the package manager from the toolbar, click scan hub for missing dependencies, and download all. The scene should now work with no problems.

Unfortunately, VAM is really anything but plug and play and it can take a lot of tweaking, but it shouldn't take too long to get one or two scenes working just so you can check them out real fast.

A week ago I installed more add-ons and the game don't want to load a simple scene without closing itself. I tried opening and editing with the VR headset aside and then wake up them for playing. That simple trick actually let me play the game in VR today. But my conclusion is: I can't pass though loadscreens while rendering 3 monitors when before wasn't a problem, is there any solution to this critical performance drop?

Have you tried to remove some of your AddonPackages to see if the problem is still happening?
The laptop you linked has 8GB of ram which is not enough for VAM, so if you didn't add more ram that could explain your problem.
In my case VAM crash from time to time due to memory leaks but it takes hours (with 32GB ram).
Another possibility is that you added a .var file which is conflicting with the other addons. In this case, the solution is the same, you should remove the addons you added recently to check if it fix your problem.

Could be a my wrong feeling but lately, when i'm in vr, seems that i can't go close to a girl face with my head;
seems that i can go near, but not against like before, and say it keeps 10cm distance and all is moving ahead keeping the same distances.
Most probably i mixed up some switches but... any idea?
There are still things that i can not understand, like why game buttons in some scenes work only with hand set as hidden...

I linked a range of laptops, sorry, mine has 16GB of RAM and GPU RTX3060. The crash often happens while or after a modification (loading screens). I'm thinking about remove folders of addons, but idk if is wise in my case: My presets are made from multiple of them... But I want to remark the loading screens, why there?
