Stumbled across what seems to be a bug in the beginning of chapter 2. I just dropped April's daughter off at school, and Olivia seems to think she saw me with a woman in the hallway, only.... that didn't happen. I don't know if this is a case of checking an incorrect flag or flags being set wrong or what (I haven't actually looked at the code), just thought I'd mention it.

Just getting into this game. From what I've seen so far, I kind of wish I could re-edit the nicknames and whatnot any time while playing instead of having to go all the way back to that original option during character intro.

But I really like the story so far.

Thx. It was bad variable planning on my part, back when I started the original version of this VN. Basically if you chose the Love path with the Artist Kelly, you didn't see that scene Olivia mentions at school - but the code was just checking if you still had content on for Olivia, which is on by default.

I changed it so it now won't mention that event if the player didn't see it (Was on the Artist's Love path).

I also changed the code so all players get a choice in this scene if they want to see content with Olivia or not. It's also a chance to turn that content back on, in case you turned it off at the end of the last act, but changed your mind.

Even if you turn off content with Olivia, you'll still see the rest of this scene and have to make some choices, but none of the choices available will be for events involving her in any lewd situations.

Thanks for the feedback.

ok so few games have a what I would call Epic writing moment, normaly decent story backed by sex which is why were here. But some have a wow moment. The scene where he finally gets laid and the mom has a suprise in the bed with him for me was wow!! Well done!

I just updated the links with a new 2.01 Beta build that fixes the bugs that were reported and a few I found after. I also added a short scene (mainly a phone text convo) that provides a better context for the relationship between Laura and Agnes if you were on a path where you were dealing with Agnes alone. This explains why Agnes was staying on Laura's couch later in the story. Sorry for confusing those who went this route and were like "Huh?" when she was all of a sudden a house guest, lol. That bit got lost in the final publication rush originally.

Okay, I have a complaint and I want to talk to the manager.
So, my dear dev - you might think that putting a clickable ad on the taxi in the Laura-Hans scene is a novel and brilliant marketing idea, but it's quite the opposite. Let me elaborate: stupid people - like me - might click it without realizing and almost get a heart attack, when the browser pops open on their (offline) computer. Then they might spend a better part of a day searching for a virus on their home network, getting annoyed - further increasing their blood pressure. Then - after a lot of wasted time and effort - finally figuring out what was going on, they might facepalm with such force to cause a minor concussion. Or you know, they might punch through their monitor.
Either way, you will end up with people who can't afford to support you anymore - healthcare and hardware are expensive - or just won't trust you enough/too annoyed to do so. The people this marketing tactic usually works on and not bothered by - the ones with dozens of toolbars - might not be the most optimal target for building a supporter base. (Well, they might be, what do I know?)
So please consider removing this 'feature' in the future.

I really enjoyed the game by the way - the main reason I bothered mentioning my issue.
Anyways, good luck with further development.

Sorry for stressing you out. I'm just experimenting with ways to help promote my VN's. It's definitely not a unique thing as I have personally played dozens of VN's lately with much more intrusive ads and hyperlinks all over the place. It's also a minor shout-out back to F95 here, because this place has been a great resource for me and I doubt I would be even doing this still, without this forum.

In any case, the small ones will likely remain, but for the next release, I will probably remove the ones that are on the renders with the sign larger and to the left. They overlap the text box a bit and are much easier to click by mistake.

I just recently discovered this game. I mainly downloaded it because of the tags.

The game itself is great. Lot's of build-up to what will turn out a lot of mother-daughter action.

But what I don't understand is the title. "Whoremonger" seems an appropriate title for a slave trainer kind of game. Now, the MC might still want to turn the appartment building into a brothel in Act 10 or something but as of Act 2 this title seems pretty much out of place.

The "New Testament Edition" part is even worse. The game has nothing to do with religion in any way, either positive or negative.

Given that this game has existed already for 2 years but this thread has only 25 pages seems to indicate it's not a hugely popular game. And I think that is more due to the confusing name than to the actual content (which I think is pretty great).

I will write a more elaborate review later but needed to get this off my chest...

Would also like to report two "bugs" I found.
But first: It's a really good game and I like it so far. Some times a bit too much too boring side story with no action or character development, but overall one of the better adult games I played. When the writing is not just about daily routines I really enjoy reading the scenes.

Now for the bugs:

1. When you meet Agnes the first time, she secretly follows you and we can see her thoughts. And she mentions the players name. Regardless of which path I choose. If I ignore her or just give her the 20 bucks the MC never tells her his name. So how does she know it? Only in her love path he mentions his name.

2. Not a technical bug, but much more annoying then the other one: The secret images.
I hate it when you have to search every picture for not obvious secret things, regardless of what they are. This is a story porn game. Both genres don't go well with this concept. I want to concentrate on the writing and the lewds. I want to enjoy them, because they are both good. But I am constantly distracted by clicking everywhere to hope and find another secret image. Plus you often have only one scene/click where you can find a secret, even if the place where you can find the secret is also visible in other scenes.
On the flashback where we first see his story in the prison (he talks about it to George in the strip club) I found the one on the picture over the top bed in the cell. The scene is visible for two "clicks". But only on the first you can activate the secret. If you miss that first one and click it on the second "click" (it's still the same image), then it just transitions to the next picture in the scene. Didn't test if you can click on it later again. The same picture and scene appears later a few times again (when he tells the story again to April, for example).
I spend half of the time just clicking on a random place on screen, rewinding the scene with my mouse wheel one step, and click on another spot on the image. And then do that again and again until I hope, that I clicked on every likely place. And then I do that for every single "click/scene" sometimes. Very annoying and immersion breaking.
I really would like you to remove this "feature" completely. I played a lot of adult games. And I never had a game where they implemented such a "search the scene with clicks while every click lets the scene advance further"-'feature' in a good or even an ok way. If you really want to have something like this in it, then at least highlight it if you move your mouse over it or better: Let us players now what we have to find. Not random things in random scenes, but small photos with a distinct style. They can be hidden, but if you see them, you know that you found one. Or in one game I played you had to find doughnuts. The photos and the doughnuts all looked different. But they where unique enough to not have me stupidly click every scene several times. If I spotted a photo hanging on a wall half hidden behind other things, I instantly knew that that was one of the secret images. Again: It was not good, but miles better then what is in Whoremonger right now. It really only pulled me out of the story all the time and ruined a good part of the very good story for me.
And no, I can't just ignore the secrets. If I know they are there, then I want to find them all. And I think a lot of players also think like me in that regard.

The name is pretty much explained in literally the first screen of the game. Whoremonger is a term from the Old Testament book Ephesians. It's meant to describe basically any horny fucker of the day. It's modern meaning is more someone who pays for sex. The MC was raised right and proper and he got fucked for that. Now he's living his life as he wants and he's exploring his sexuality with a woman who is/was a stripper. I chose this name because it resonated with me and my Catholic upbringing.

As for the NTE thing... I had abandoned this game when Patreon fucked me over, so when I resurrected it and completely rewrote the code and changed the structure to a pure VN, I chose the name NTE because it's like the more modern version of the term Whoremonger now... a New Testament version, so to speak.

If you don't get it.. you don't get it... it's just a title. I could have named it Bad Bobby Saga Redux XII or something, and it still wouldn't have meant anything. But, as I wrote in the past, I am making these stories for me... not anyone else. I share them with you all and some people help support my work, but at the end of the day, it's a story I wanted to develop and it's a means for me to learn this craft.

As for popularity... that's a pretty subjective term. The game was dead for over a year, after all. Since I rebooted it, I have raised my subs to near 100 and the last release got downloaded from here over 18,000 times in the first 24 hours. It's also been pirated and posted on dozens of other websites. So, I think it's moving in the right direction.

I don't engage much in this thread and honestly, when people are happy, they tend not to make a lot of posts. As someone who's been online since the late 80's, I can tell you... it's the unhappy, vocal minority that tend to post a lot. That also why I don't let what's said on this forum influence my development at all.

... snip ...
Thank's for the bug report. That's the first mention of that one. The way I coded it, if you gave $20 or if you got food and also money just changed the Love or Lust path - but on both those paths, the MC tells Agnes his name. It's only on the path where he keeps walking that she shouldn't know it. But after your report, I looked at the code and yes, she says it just near the end of that scene. (which was where the game ended back in the original Act I version).

I just fixed that so she won't say the MC's name if her path is still OFF. That will get pushed when I release the next update at the end of this summer (or early Fall).

As for the secret images... not sure what you want from me. I did them just as a distraction and something for people to do if they are bored or what not. I eventually will be adding achievements to the VN and the code is already in the game to track those, but that's probably an update or two away. I didn't want to do the easy stuff that everyone else did (like those donuts or the little Polaroid photos a couple of games have). I toss out random 4K renders for my subs, so this was kind like an extra thing for the rest of you. I can't really code around your OCD to have to find them, if you know they exist. The best I can do is what I did for the last couple of ones in this release... I put them in a spot and then also hinted that it was important in the dialogue. If you actually buy the game from Itch.io or you sub to the lowest tier on Subscribestar, you get a walkthrough that tells you the locations.

In any case, there's always the person who will post the spoiler/walkthrough on here. I was actually kind of surprised it took so long for the first one though. A lot of people would just unren my VN and rip the images directly.

Thanks for the explanation! I don't read the Bible in English, so...

It does make sense the way you explained it. I'm still afraid it's much too obscure for most people (99% of the non-native English speakers and also native English speakers who are not familiar with the Bible), but hey, it's up to you. Based on the title, I just expected a vastly different game then what it is.

Anyway, I really do like the game! I can't support financially unfortunately but I can try to support in any other way possible.

Just tell you, that it will likely distract many from the well written story. I tend to overcomplicate my explanations, so that's on me, I guess.

I did them just as a distraction and something for people to do if they are bored or what not. I eventually will be adding achievements to the VN and the code is already in the game to track those, but that's probably an update or two away. I get all that. It was just how I experienced your game. And you don't have to change it, I just would very appreciate it.
And either I didn't get it or not all of the secrets are mentioned in the dialogues? The two I found for now (the one I mentioned above and the cat picture in the cafe) definitely weren't mentioned in any way.

In any case, there's always the person who will post the spoiler/walkthrough on here. I was actually kind of surprised it took so long for the first one though. A lot of people would just unren my VN and rip the images directly.
Yeah, I also could unren it. But it just feels wrong for me. Even if sometimes annoying, I mostly want to experience a game the intended way. I use unren only if a game has a really bad story or is extremely grindy, but has nice visuals. I play porn games for a reason. Just looking at pictures isn't the same as having likable characters and a good story connecting them.
And I know the extra images are not cannon and just are extras, but I guess that's just how I am ^^

So regardless what you do with my 'critique': Thanks for the nice game. Keep the quality up.
