I guess I personally just feel like this is too far fetched to be real (I know right? cause porn games are the most down to earth games ever) and it ruins my immersion completely, I dont self insert either but it still feels strange for me. WVM MC being portrayed as a competent person who has something good & successful going his way from the start of the story is very rare to see in these games. Which i give big thanks Braindrop for successfully sharing his story and giving us a new way to portray MCs in these games we all enjoy.

Also, I don't self-insert myself into the MCs neither when playing these games. If anything, i'd see myself as an assist in MC's inner mind or invisible spirit helping MC on his journey. I don't need them to be relatable to me to enjoy the story and be entertained.
But hey that's how i interpreted the game.

One of the things that drives me nuts is that people complain WVM is not realistic. That makes no sense to me at all, show me a game that is realistic. Who here finds it normal to rape people in their sleep, or fuck their mom, sister or aunt. When did the future show up an we have robots to fuck. How can I get a catgirl to sleep with? Complaints from patrons with limited imaginations. 40+ girl harem = believable. Huge cock to satisfy that harem = cannot even.
There is a place for realism in fantasy and fiction, and different people have different levels of it that feel acceptable. With this being a VN about a basketball scolarship superstar, it would probably break people's immersion if suddenly the character could fly and shoot lasers from his eyes. Or if Charles turned out to be an alien. Realism in a fictional/fantasy story is about internal consistency. Feeling like you know the rules of the world its set in, and that the story doesn't break those rules out of convenience. For me, BD's story fits within my levels for this.
I guess for some people, however, they have a different view of where those parameters should be. Some people like their fantasies grittier, the characters closer to the flawed people they see in real life. Possibly so that it's easier to imagine it happening in reality? I'm not sure as this isn't my preference.
