VN Ren'Py Completed A Knight's Tale [v0.36 SE] [Neverlucky]

So, when I first played this - I thought it showed real promise. Nice setting, some actual tasks to do and so on. But I have to say that the further this has been developed, the more disappointed I feel. I wonder - Are we going to see some actual plot development again some day?

It's meant to be SOL, so not seeing much should be expected. However, since the dev brought up possible palace intrigue and implied there may be a coming threat from outside the kingdom, one would think those need to progress further at some point.

I just maybe feel that we were introduced to a group of locations and characters, that could make for good writing material yet ended up being pushed aside in favor of status quo. But that could just be me, and my personal preference towards games that are more than just a bit of skin.

My understanding was always that this was supposed to be a slice-of-life game, so bringing up intrigue at the palace and suspected possible threats from outside the kingdom seems a little odd. True, those things happened in the course of medieval life, but they are fairly unusual events, not really SOL stuff. I definitely also want to see where that stuff goes.

Why would it seem odd to expect what the dev lays out as the plan in his overview on the OP (or the almost word-for-word synopsis on his Patreon?)

I said it seems odd if this is a slice-of-life game. I never said it's odd for a dev to follow their description for a game. Maybe it's not supposed to be one, but the game (so far) plays almost entirely like SOL; I would have expected far more plot development and conflict and far less daily routine stuff if the dev were actually going to stick to what they originally described.

Well, that doesn't exactly sound like what you said the first time, but this is 100% correct. What it was originally described to be and what it has been so far are not the same thing. And it confuses a fair number of new players. One of my two major gripes with an otherwise excellent game. Would be nice if Neverlucky revised his game synopsis to more accurately reflect the product he's created.

Well, for me at least - it's not so much that there's too much sex, rather there isn't really any other meaningful content apart from that, and I somehow had thought (hoped?) there would be. Haven't seen much of the "many adventures as you train her to one day become a knight herself. "

No dragon (not even a mother-in-law... oh wait, there is a MIL, but she's nice), definitely no jealousy, but there is mention of an evil king every few updates.

It's a fairy tale my friend, birds sing, flower blossom, everybody smile, even your farts smell lavender and the flies fly around your poo singing a buzzing melody full of joy and happiness!

not yet, all sex with every1 and doing lord of castle's jobs and training squire and going on walks. mc's friend asked his help but we'll have to wait if mc will take part of that or will he just keep fucking wife, squire and servant girl.

I would have liked it a bit more if there were an alternate scene where the innkeeper lady in the last update congratulated Cathy on her pregnancy and talked about wishing to become pregnant herself and Cathy convinces her to come to their room that night to receive the lord's seed. Then something would have actually happened. Let Cathy assist in the lord blessing all of the cute girls in the land.

So I started this game about a week ago and just finished it. My original interest was in the Medieval Theme (as I had just played "Price of Power" and was awaiting the next update).

At first I was not overly impressed. The Renders were not as high quality as some other games I played recently. The day-to-day of the story is extremely repetitive, and it seems like renders get re-used quite often. I think the early sword training scenes and sex with Catherine might have been been a complete copy and paste of the previous ones (or pretty close).

However, as I continued, the game grew on me. It become rather "Comforting" seeing the characters in their routine. I started to look forward to seeing the characters each day. So while it may never be in my Top 5, I really did enjoy it and will keep playing future updates.

On a personal note, Alice is my favorite character. I would like to see a lot more progress with her. The Female InnKeeper from the last update was also very cute, but I doubt anything will ever happen with her. Just as nothing will probably ever happen with the tailor/seamstress (I think her name was Felicia).

On the other hand, Lydia is (or was) the Sweetest most innocent little girl, and I think the other characters should feel terrible for corrupting her. If I was given an in-game choice then I might have simply left her alone and stuck with Alice and Catherine instead.

I also find it strange that we have never seen any guards from the MC's Castle, but we have seen them when visiting other Towns/Castles. Only two servants as well, the cook and stable boy. I guess there was no reason to render them since they had nothing to do with the story, but I found it strange they were not even pictured in the background. Not really a problem, but just something I noticed.

So anyway, as I said, even with some faults I still really enjoyed playing it. I'm already looking forward to the next update.
