The dev excuse list basically reads:

1) Mental health issues
2) Health issues in general
3) Computer or part of it (GPU) died
4) Someone in their life is ill or died
5) Real job is taking up more time
6) SO or family that suddenly needs more time
7) The dev disappears and rumors of their death begin to circulate.

All of these can be and are serious issues, not making light of any of them - individually.
It's when you see 3-4 or more of these excuses come up as you wait for an update that it starts to feel surreal. You want to give the developer the benefit of the doubt so you think "Man, porn game developers have the worst luck", but after encountering it over and over again you become a bit cynical (or in my case a jaded grouchy asshole who lives in a garbage can).

(I know there are a lot more excuses, I just went with the 7 habits of highly effective devs).
I hear ya about this. Eventually the reasons start sounding like excuses, etc. All of those reasons are definitely legit, but for sure eventually things start sounding routine an like the "my dog ate my homework" or "the boy who cried wolf" situations. I hope that isn't the situation here, but I have my thoughts (more on that below).

Careful.. your posts will start to be deleted too for being off topic of "the best VN ever" (I'm quoting that I'm not off topic myself :/). At the end of the day let's just hope it's not health related or some other serious issue as the release was scheduled and imminent within days... which actually makes me worried that the dev had/has some serious IRL issue at hand.
Not the best AVN ever , but this one had plenty of followers for sure (myself included and being the first AVN I got pulled back into the world with). I'm with you: hopefully it's nothing major/serious, and my fingers are crossed. I have my theories and speculation on what could be the deal looking at how sudden things were (again, more on that below).

I mentioned this on the trainwreck of a Discord server only yesterday and again today; however, the more I thought about this, this seems like more of a Patreon issue or something that TLG was notified about and he (or Patreon) pulled the project. A couple of reasons:
  1. November 1st is right around the corner and since TLG hadn't changed to Patreon's subscription billing model, all patrons would have been charged on that date. That's a lot of money to leave on the table.
  2. Copyright issues...perhaps less about assets or renders, but potentially the music.
As I was just thinking about this, I remembered the fan playlist that was put together on Spotify: . If you listen to some of the songs on there, you'll notice there are lyrics, while in-game there are no lyrics/vocals. This leads me to believe that there could have been a DMCA strike or copyright claim at some point, and TLG didn't address it in time or something. Hence the project being pulled either permanently or temporarily.

I know, again I'm speculating, but it seems to be the most logical possibility to me. My hope is we will have some clarity in a few weeks, especially after the 1st of November, but I'm not holding out hope.

Now the discord server's a completely toxic place. Racist, childporn, loli, bdsm nude... appears in every channels after the news about patreon

At least TLG didn't go above and beyond constantly with retarded excuses like: "My dog ate my USB that had all my assets and story on it." or "My grandmother passed away." (Several fucking times with this one. I mean how many grandmothers you got bud?) Oh and let's not forget the old: "I'm working on it! Here's some old renders from chapter one, that I recycled and primped her hair for everyone!"

No. TLG wasn't like any of those shitty devs who just milked their patrons for many months and one that milked for years and is STILL milking with hallucenigenic bs that means nothing.
Braindrop (my favorite postman stepped on dog poo so i'm hurting but have a family to provide for so i won't freeze pledges ever again and you're not getting a release date out of me ever again either)?

This VN was hardly a favorite or anything, but i think it's story was just starting to pick up, so it's too bad if thats the end of it. But oh well, some VNs make it to the finish line, but a lot do not. c'est la vie

Well... it would be a issue that can be solved...

BUT i dont think that its just that...

Lets face it, he pretty much VANISHED from one day to another, no news, no statements, no nothing... if it would be a copyright issue, why not make a message about it to the patrons? Even if he has to take it down the very next day, the notice would remain in everybodys email folder for example.

No... everything is just gone, in an instant. You cant even reach TLG in any way.

That is some strange shit. Never saw something like that. "just" a copyright case would have been gone in an otherway. And many games had copyright issues recently. Very popular ones around here. They had to delete music and such, and solved it... well it took them time and they had to step back from developing like planned for that, but thats it.

TLG is *puff* gone... nah, there are only two scenarios on my mind why this happened... something really fishy is going on, like getting hacked... OR some personal shit. My bet? its personal... TLG made some statements in the past that he has personal issues here and there... i have my own experience with that in many different ways... sometimes its like that... you just pull the plug and shut down everything, no matter what. (iam not saying suicide... dont need to be that dark)

For example, i had a very low phase once and just didnt went to work from one day to the other... never went to the workplace again, didnt even called them or anything. They tried to reach out for me, i didnt respond, didnt open the door or get the phone... after some months they gave up and thats it. That happened over 10 years ago. Fuck i still have the keys to the office.

I would say, its something like this with TLG:

I was a patreon a while (couldnt afford that anymore, really) and i have to say, there were some pretty harsh critics going on here and there... and i was on the discord too and boy... its getting really toxic there pretty fast, compared to that the F95 board is real civil, those things can eat you up, til a point where you just close everything in a heartbeat, no matter what...

Or maybe the development didnt go like TLG intended, it was growing a little bit over his head, and he decided "ah fuck this" from one day to the other. It could be just a little error in the code that did bother him or some other issue that he just couldnt solve like he wanted to (ever saw breaking bad, where walter tried to catch the fly in the lab? He pretty much would burn down the whole place just to get that freaking fly). And if you are a person with some mental issues (maybe a bit bi-polar) this can get you over the edge in a instant and you just throw the thing against a wall so to speak and stop everything, pull the plug, shut everything down, and thats it. Maybe he is regretting this right now but cant go back cause he crushed everything or deleted it. Cause its look just like that, that everything is "gone"

Pretty much a very similar thing happened with Chainzero and Connected. He was tweaking the models of his game to "rework" past releases (almost never a good idea for motivation), probably ran in to trouble changing everything, or just lost motivation to rework all the old stuff, and was too far into it just to go back to how it was, which was totally fine all along. Plus, he was having some personal problems with family and depression, he is living at home, and he got in a fight with a family member, and just snapped one day and deleted his entire game. He kept his Patron going though, to still collect money each month. A year later he came back to F95 and told everyone what happened.

Maybe something like that happened with TLG, where he kept putting off work, while saying it was almost done, and the pressure just built and built until he couldn't take it anymore, and just closed his Petreon, and went offline (as TLG that is). It happens. Not everyone is mature enough to give themselves a break for slacking off (we have all done it), level with the fans, and put their game on hold for awhile, officially.

yep thats my guess pretty much... something like that happened, and he snapped and throwed everything away.

And from that there is no coming back.

Ahhhh i'll miss the game... the girls were just so good in this one, and so different from each other... and especially the realtionship between MC and Jenny or MC and Ashley was so good... maybe in the point of "falling in love" the best around F95 overall... really sad to see this going down the toilet...

but well, the good part... it was going down in an instant, i hate it even more to see a game "suffer" year after year going nowhere but kept "alive" by the DEVs to milk it some more... and you still carry just that little hope around that it will be finished someday.

Decided to further hurt myself tonight by replaying my favorite moments. Cry post with me.

The second one is pretty cool.
I think if there is something this game did better than every others (at least to me) it was the emotion in the eyes of the characters. They are so meaningful.
