Some of you need to learn to ignore each other. Sometimes a conversation gets heated, but apparently many of you can't let anything go. I actually don't think there's that many trolls in here (aside from the obvious bullshit fake accounts), but there are a wide-array of opinions. I often don't agree with Saber, but calling him a troll is absurd since his argument pretty much amounts to "Can't everyone be nicer?". Meanwhile, I usually agree with Viper, but his scorched earth strategy is hard to engage with. With both users I'm capable of reading their posts and moving on without getting triggered into a tirade. This is a basic skillset when using a forum, and yet some of you will beat a dead horse and lose your minds. Just chill, it's a stupid internet forum for a stupid porn game, it isn't worth getting upset over. Even if you "win" the argument, you still end up looking like a loser who gets bent out of shape because of an internet forum.

All that said, I tend to agree with palmtrees89, L&P's statements have been all over the map so there's really no way to know what he's doing. I don't know to what degree it's intentionally misleading, but he's certainly intentionally vague. His already poor communication has gotten substantially worse over the last year. The last really clear post I can remember from him was when he laid out the timeline for the upcoming sex acts. That was a long post with actual detail; and it was great! But as soon as he started to talk about bringing in help his communications broke down. Now we're left piecing together fragmented and contradictory statements. Some of those statements have been public, and some have been from private correspondences, and that creates a tangled web. His public statements tend to be vague and non-committal, so we learn very little from them. But even they have been contradictory. But in private correspondences he tends to elaborate a bit more, and that's where the contradictions become more pronounced.

From where I stand, I sincerely don't know if L&P knows what he's doing. It's one thing to be disorganized, but I'm beginning to wonder if L&P is overwhelmed to the point of paralysis. If he was simply disorganized he'd be slow (and he's always been slow), but I think he could organize his thoughts when he tried. But over the last year, and especially the last few months, his comments strike me as someone that has slipped beyond disorganization and into paralysis. I'm sure he's still making progress...but it's in fits and starts, and I don't know that it's always productive progress. It feels more and more that the project is collapsing because I don't think L&P is able to juggle all of the balls he has in the air. If he was doing well with the juggling, he wouldn't contradict himself so much.

One last thing, shouldn't we know the names of the other people working on the project? If I had signed up to work with L&P, I'd want to get credit for my work. And yet there hasn't been any announcement or public acknowledgement of the people he's brought on. That's tells me one of two things: 1) Either L&P is just a shitty dude who doesn't want to give other people the public acknowledgement and respect they deserve, or 2) He doesn't have anyone actually lined up and is lying. I really, really, hope that it isn't the second one, but the utter confusion around the status of his help raises a bunch of red flags.
Yeah - there are some people I don't always agree with but they frame their points in a measured reasoned way and so will take the time to read what they say - sometimes they might change my mind if I understand their viewpoint. But too many make their points either in a childish way or continually repeat the same points over and over - thankfully we have the IGNORE button for those.

I often don't understand L&P's often cryptic public pronuncements - some of it may be down to language difference, some down to his poor communication skills, and maybe sometimes down to him being deliberately vague. I don't know what is this great new addition that he is so quick to trumpet - if it is animation then I prsonally don't see the point until he has sex scenes to animate. I would rather him just crack on and get basic rendering and story done. But if he is belatedly responding to his Patreon's wishes then fair enough.

I have (barely) enough faith and goodwill in him to give him the benefit of the doubt this release. But that is very much dependant on him cranking out the following release in just four weeks. If he can't get a short update done in 4 weeks, then given that some scenes will be ineviatbly be longer and more complex, if he can't hit a short update in 4 weeks then we won't get a full Playable Day out within a year.

That has to be the MINIMUM he achieves going forward unless these 12 Playable Days will take more than a decade to produce, or more realitically lead to abandonment part way through.

On his assistant, for now I will give him the beenfit of the doubt. As yet the assistant has nt produced anything tangible for us to see. Hopefully it will be as good as L&P is suggesting, ut I have learnt the hard way that what L&P regards as "hot" does nt always mean that I agree with his definition.....

Searching for the right person is a long process and it takes experience to make the right choice. L&P got a late start on the search and it's likely to be the second job for the helper found. So a few hours a day.
And one more thing, you have to be really good to pick someone worthy. And L&P didn't know much about Blender.
Sure it is, and sometimes shit happens, but certainly the situation is not ideal. The first guy leaving is bad enough, but alone it could be bad luck, but the second guy is a problem. If it's accurate that the second assistant was let go/fired/whatever because he wasn't skilled enough, then that is something L&P should have known from the beginning. So he wasted more time, and is now on his third assistant in less than two months; that's a bad look.

But it really wouldn't be a big deal, except for the fact that whatever these assistants are working on is vital to the next release. That means L&P is learning in real-time while it's also directly delaying the next release. That's just really poor time management. All of these growing pains that should be worked out behind the scenes, in a low-pressure environment, have instead been pushed to forefront. If this new feature is critical for the update, then he should have been working on it and building his team months ago; otherwise he should have delayed its implementation until a later update.

It's just a bad situation overall.

Well, it could be one of two possibilities. Either all the assistants he's hired so far were just terrible people to work for, or L&P is just terrible to work for. Maybe a little of both? Who knows? You're right though, having to go through this now is bad for the game. Better if he had established some hired hands before he tackled this VN. That way all the kinks could have been worked out and everybody would be on the same page in knowing what to do in producing the desired outcome levels.

I know it's not fair to compare this game to DIK, but I can't help wondering what could have been if he just started small before taking on a bigger game like Dr. Pink did. Pink produces only one update for the game per year with DIK, but that update contains so much work, detail, effort and replayability that people literally don't mind getting just that one update a year. There was a good possibility L&P could have been on that level if he had just started with a smaller project first.

The only plausible explanation would be that he was thinking of a different dynamic for the event but the result was not satisfactory. He realised late that DAZ was not enough.
However, he still had to use something else besides DAZ sooner or later.

I have been unaware of the revolving door for the 'assistants'. I concur it is a bad look. IF it is real. I think this is rapidly headed toward a fail and this is just another excuse. I do not believe he actually hired anyone. Will the two that were kicked to the curb stand up and just say yeah I got booted. It may almost be a badge of honor considering what so many think of L&P. Not gonna happen for a multitude of reasons. My number one is they never existed. That is OK however as it just keeps going into my dump truck full of reasons to press on.

Jesus Christ, if this is accurate then it's always something with this game. If he's on his third assistant in less than two months, then something went wrong in the hiring process. How is it that nothing, NOTHING, ever goes according to plan for L&P?

Sometimes I think this game is successful despite L&P, and not because of him.
I don't think The Christ has anything to do with this. However, some guy named Jesus from Miami or San Ajelo maybe. Back to Na na na na na They don't exist na na na na.

Does anyone here actually know what this addon gimmick is meant to be?
All we know so far is that it's likely connected to L&P using Blender, and his statement about it being the perfect time to introduce the new feature for part 2 of AWAM due to increasingly hot events. He also mentioned that it's something he wanted to do for a long time. To me, all of this sounds like an effort to include actual animations to the game.

Problem with that is, if it's indeed animations, the huge delays don't make any sense. L&P himself said the update is gonna be short, and no skilled artist (the multiple skilled artists he's apparently found, and something about missing a guy for "the last part", whatever that's supposed to mean) would need several months to add a couple animations to a short update. There's not even gonna be enough "hot" content to implement an amount of animations justifying the huge delays.

Another thing that doesn't add up is his latest statement about moving on to update 2/10 without releasing the first one, as his "helper" apparently still needs more time to complete the task. UNLESS there is no other developer, which could explain why he's not ready to release update 1/10 if he still couldn't manage to create a solid animation matching his standards.

Anyway, in the end we don't know what this new feature's supposed to be. All I know is that it's gotta blow my head off my shoulders after all the hype he's produced regarding this "special" addition to the game, which I doubt is gonna happen.

:coffee: Updated BigTable™ with the recent informations.
Hype!

  • We recently hit the 3 Years Anniversary of Being a DIK with today 1,100 Days of development.
  • The production ratio are clearly underwhelming but let's not forget DPC also had a COVID incident and it's a side-story.
    • DPC now seems to assemble animations, they could be around 60. Would need investigation after release.
    • As raw numbers, to hit the Ratio Average it would be supposed to be rush in 40 days total. So it's not relevant.
    • Estimated game size breakdown.
  • The side-story might be released in 20 Days. Which project the release of EP9 around September.

L&P is making 15% progress on Art and PS and it may be because this way the patreons can feel the game progress faster even though it's already almost 3 months in development for a smaller part of the game (1/3 of the updates from before), maybe this way their patreons accept the new 100% of the Addon (a highly possible DRM) in a less angry way.
