I really don't get why everyone here hates Kim that much. She makes this whole VN different. I wish the MC was a little less dumb and more assertive but he has his qualities and Kim has had her weaknesses and I liked their chemistry and journey in the first version. Now banging his mom was a dick move but looks like I wasn't really that much offended.

I wonder if this is about power: Most players want to be in control of the action happening on screen and want to develop the story themselves so Kim doing the player's Mom behind his back felt like a backstab. I just found it really stupid and egoistic but also kinda funny and hot. And I think there is room for character development here, what I like. Usually there isn't much in porn games as they are, well, porn games.

Exactly, I usually get really invested in games like these so when the supposed "best friend" goes behind your back it really ruined any incentive I have to continue this game. Of course though I am still gonna download the next update XD but I got a feeling my feelings towards Kim will stay the same. Still think the the award for best friend goes to the one in Acting Lessons.

Now that's a true friend even thought I was sad for him until the end, but I won't spoil it for others.

I thought Kim banging mom was... while not particularly pleasant as a player (the graphics were hot and I'm always happy to peek at Kim's boobs), wasn't so terrible that it needed to be re-written. it's a very drastic and somewhat believeable action Kim took, (her being female inclined was already an established point) and makes for a very interesting dynamic moving forwards. MC needs Kim for the prophecy to save the world or whatever, but he obviously dislikes Kim now. Also this would give Kim less of a leg to stand on when we eventually bang her mom as well. Us as players are always banging friends moms or what not, so to have the tables turn would be an interesting plotpoint. It would've been very interesting to see how we could proceed with the friendship, or if we wanted to continue the friendship at all (if given the choices anyways).

So yeah, an extreme turn of events followed by extreme reaction from audience and now it's retconned. Still fun game though. Well written dialogue and believable characters. Hope work on this continues! I'd even take more episodes of AD over FILF at this point.

As someone who didn't like the scene and said as much, I'm somewhat disappointed (even though it is the easiest solution) that the dev decided to revise the scene instead of trying to carry it forward, but based on their own comments about the future plans for the game and the presentation of the scene in-universe, the scene as it happened and the way the game reacted to it just didn't fit together just didn't fit together. Kim's actions amounted to a major betrayal of the MC's trust, but everyone seemed to treat as something that whilst not good, was not ultimately as bad as it was and that it could be forgiven by the fact it had unintentional positive consequences and that Kim would later save the MC's life. But that wouldn't show any genuine remorse or coming to terms with the mistake and changing as a consequence, which is what the dev would need to do if he wanted kim to remain sympathetic, and their own comments appeared to suggest they weren't fully aware of that. Therefore, i think changing the scene to something more minor that showcases Kim's actions and betrayal of trust as happening momentarily rather than a full on sex scene fits far better with how it is treated within the story, as someone who made a mistake out of personal weakness that they understand was wrong, rather than wilfully abusing someone's trust to serve their own selfish needs. I'd rather, personally, the dev carry forward with the character doing something bad and having to genuinely atone and change as a consequence, but i understand why they wouldn't because it's going to be more difficult, more controversial and in all likelihood require rewrites and reworkings of the aftermath of the original scene anyway. it is one pity of the whole crowdfunding aspect of this scene that it does somewhat serve to disincentive risk taking.

Sure, but why is it that much of a problem? In a lot of games I bang other guy's Moms and I don't feel too bad about it. Hell, in Corruption I corrupt two girls at the police station, then get their dads in jail and then impregnate the mothers in front of the fathers.

My point is: Isn't bending rules and morality from the real world kinda the thing when playing those games? This game is more like a point&click adventure where the protagonist is usually a goofy loser and not everything works as he wants it too. Just look at the Leisure Suit Larry games. This is part of the appeal, I think. Usually the "best friend"-characters in porn games are just supporters who support the MC when needed and don't do much else. It's different here. And I like it.

I don't get how it could be a surprise for the dev that the scene would piss a lot of people off. Which is why I think it's always better to go all in or all out when it comes to that sort of content, there won't be any confusion as to what sort of game it is and people won't get a nasty surprise. Before downloading games I always see if there is something about planned kinks, and if I see ntr or sharing, I simply stay away. It's perfectly fine if people enjoy stuff that I don't, but getting blind sighted isn't very nice.

Yup it was more because of that for me personally, rather than the supposed beta cucking, lol. I've stated this before but I'll say it again. I don't mind competition of any sort as long as the game clearly defines what the character actually is from the start. If the game had made Kim your rival/antagonist who you have to compete against to get the version of altered history you want, that would have been fine. Instead the dev made her out to be this supposed "likeable" best friend who cares deeply for the MC, only to go "haha I banged your mom bro, why you mad?".

I thought of a scene off the top of my head after replaying the new version and reading current in thread posts that makes your friend not look like a dick and only improves herself as a secondary character albeit a very important one.

You the MC get to the top of the tower and eavesdrop on the mother and Kim already in the middle of a heart to heart. Julia, upset explaining she is pregnent and it is so stupid because she was only with father for convenience, she is not even sure if she really likes boys completely and this mistake has left her with a child on the way, Kim the best friend comforts her, puts a arm around her and tells her she knows she is strong enough to raise the kid and will do a great job. Also she tells her to never be afraid of what she is or who she likes and she does not know how long she will be here but she believes that she can overcome anything and just be who she wants to be, that is how she will be truly happy.

Now when the conversation goes quiet you announce yourself, you call your friend to talk for a second and you go to the other side, you say thanks for looking after my mom and she cups your face and says she would do anything for you. and boom you go back to present.

Heartfelt moment. Obviously can be cleaned up. But typing as I go.

You changed the timeline because julia the mother had someone who was never there for her previously and you alter the future because the mother had the strength to carry forward and face things and truly be who she wants.

What did you achieve by something like this. Your friend Kim comes out looking aces, was not a predator and in your eyes of the MC she is a true best friend, she made your life better when you finally go to the future.

What did you side step, I know, all the drama, just depends how you write things.

I had a different way how in my mind how the scenes between MC and teacher should of went down after I replayed it, but that is another kettle of fish.

Kim looks likable in my scenario and a true secondary character, with a heart and actual feelings and not the person you just see trying to get your family into bed.

I agree, and furthermore, it is the conceit and inherent naivete of the eternal 12 year old that you can "turn" someone to a particular sexuality. Forgetting Kim's betrayal and its ramifications on the timeline, the mother was always gay/ bi. In the altered reality she was simply able to realize that in a physical way instead of being an unhappy, confused, and broken human being. But that will never satisfy those who will eternally daydream of curing lesbians through the power of dick.
I was enjoying the story and found the scene, to be a turning point that included elements inherrent to a good tale. Is this present better than the one he left behind? Will he forgive Kim? Does she deserve to be? What lengths will the MC go to change things back? What part does the fortune teller play, and how much does she know?
Altered Destiny was leaps and bounds ahead, in terms of maturity as a writer than FiLF, which was simplistic masturbatory pablum.
