Status update Episode 10

Happy New Year!

It's 2023, and time for the first Status update for Episode 10.

I have been focusing on posing and rendering animations. You'll be happy to know that my PCs haven't been idle for a single day since beta testing started in early December.

It's been tricky to keep everything going during release weeks, Christmas and New Year, but I did it. And thus, I've got a nice head start on the animations for episode 10.

I have posed 85 animations, of which 37 are complete.

209 static renders are done, so there is some progress in this area.

I have been writing dialogue and working on the episode layout. My main dialogue files are roughly 5300 lines long. Compared to episode 9, this is roughly 20% of the episode.

I'm still planning the episode, adding events, and creating its structure. I'm aiming for a smaller episode than episode 9, and time will tell if I can do that.

Reaching the 5000 render milestone for a single episode was insane. Episode 9 alone could be compared to the entirety of Acting Lessons. It's been easy to add more and more scenes and renders when the game's cast is this big, and I want the spotlight to shine on as many characters as possible in every episode. But with the Halloween episode done, I can limit myself a bit with this next episode.

I can already tell from the events I've put in the episode layout that plenty of story and lewd scenes are to be had. I have decided on the girls getting lewd scenes in this episode, but I left some wiggle room if I feel something more is needed.

There will be plenty of new mini-games in this episode. I love creating them, and I developed several alongside episode 9 development last year. I have planned a couple of mini-games but have yet to create them. They aren't on the same scale as the party planner mini-game, but I think you will enjoy them even so. I'll likely tease you some of it during development without spoiling too much.

I'm looking forward to this development cycle! Right now, I'm battling a cold. I will rest for a few days and hope it will pass soon.

The walkthrough will be updated soon, too - it's about 95 pages long for Interlude and Episode 9 alone.

How Sage reacts when you pick Zoey in the top 3 for a costume contest.

First scenario. The chosen path is Others. Sage already knows that Zoey is MC's ex-girlfriend (thanks Derek), but since you and Sage are just friends, her reaction is positive and she continues to smile, keeping her spirits up.

Second scenario. The chosen path is Sage. And she's your girlfriend now. She is a little confused, no smile, and a shadow of doubt is written on her face. I think Sage has a lot of thoughts in her head right now, "why did MC invite her." Even the dialogue has changed, it's an ellipsis before she finishes the question. Sage didn't make a scene of jealousy, but she would remember that.

The amazing romantic ending of Acting Lessons. We simply want to experience such raw emotion again, and hope to do so on a more massive scale in BaDIK.

Also, has a diverse cast of characters, pretty much everyone without a mentally degenerative diagnosable fetish can find something here for him.

And DPC(dev) has talent for small details. Nice music to go with the game. Great comedy and funny drama.

Overall, far from the best story, far from the best cast and so on, but as an overall package it has everything it needs to be great and popular. Simply put, it's great fun and besides the game, the community here is hilarious and dope.

Side Note for Transfer Data: This file is the binary data for the saves stated above that will be stored for import in Season 3. This file is stored in a folder labeled "persistent" in your Renpy Saves folder. Your Renpy saves can be found here

If you are unable to figure out where to find/store this file, despite the link, then to avoid confusion, it's best to load the "Episode 8 End Saves" in Season 1-2 of Being a DIK, then save the binaries in game when prompted. Your computer will take care of the rest for you. You just have to click "Import" in the Main Menu of Season 3 (Interlude)

On the walkthrough when i go to " - go back to the main hall to start a scene with Jill and Isabella " at the end of the 36th free roam i got a loop of events, when jill meet bella outside and then bella meeting sage, josy and maya. Its looping and i cant progress, anyone know how to proceed?

Did you bother looking if a solution had already been posted, or did you jump straight to asking the question?

Simply doing a thread search for "looping" or words in that dialogue (e.g. "scary" "mansion") would have quickly resulted in a solution for both issues.

Showing some effort to sort it out yourself is more likely to get an answer.

Missing Josy, how dare you!

Ha ha, yes, sorry. I suppose there is another category: Lis I forgot about. Truth is, I lost interest in her the moment she said she couldn't choose between MC and Maya, another character I forget about the moment she cheats MC and isn't able to choose between Josy and him. My MC chose for them. I don't find attractive characters that want to eat the cake and have it, I'm not interested in their personal dramas, and I don't even specially like their 3D models. I skip their scenes except when they are related with Tommy, Sage or something like that. That's why I didn't even remember them. In practice, they are not even in my gameplay and I don't think I'm missing a lot. The game is just fine without them. But it's me, I don't want to start a "Lis war".

Tbh: I for a while figured that Sage would of been Jealous of Zoey in some way. Don't forget she got out of relationship where she was really cheated on & was scared to take a risk with dating MC. I feel like there will be more reactions like this in the future with all the main girls.

Mostly, I see Sage & Jill being more threaten by Zoey.

Jill would be feeling a big type of way especially being nervous about not being experienced in the bedroom & then you have Zoey who pretty fucked him regular basis going back in life confusing him somewhat.

But, The thing Sage & Jill got over Zoey is that MC never Zoey about how he felt about his birthdays.

Only he tells Sage or Jill about it but always Sage if your not on Jill path.

Yes, that's a good point, Sage went through a toxic and traumatic relationship, her "boyfriend" used and lied to her. We can see how worried she is.
As for the rest of the LI. So far, Zoey's presence at the party has only affected Sage, Maya/Josy. And only with the two of them MC had a normal conversation about Zoey, it was heart to heart. One of the responses during Truth or Dare can even lower Maya/Josy RP.
I don’t remember Bella’s reaction, it seems that this topic was not raised at all. Unfortunately, because Bella has known about Zoey for a long time. Correct me if I'm wrong and inattentively passed this route.

Jill? She didn't seem to notice at all. A banana girl is much more concerned about the question after sex: "IS IT REALLY THAT YOU TROLL THAT FAT GIRL IN A SWIPER? WHY? THIS CANNOT BE, THIS DOESN'T MATCH WITH EVERYTHING I KNOW ABOUT YOU!"

Look at her, Jill and come back from heaven to earth, this is more important than Swiper's fatso! Are you sure you can compete?
But Jill's behavior is understandable - she is quite naive, simple-minded, kind, had no experience in relationships and was a victim of bullying at school. Therefore, it is much more important for her to punish the villains in the name of the moon in the name of justice.
