Everyone is out here yelling about Jaye or Mallory and all I want to do is have anal sex with Peanutbooter as she intuits the sheet's thread count out of nowhere while I'm pushing her head into them.
I'd like for Mal to lick Peanutbooter off of my dick...

I give two examples: Jaye's infatuation for MC is so superficial and unmotivated, that as soon as it is encouraged any reasoning is overtaken by the great AVN classic, 'he has a huge penis, I want him'
Sadly, Jaye still goes full porn heroine even if the MC never encourages her! The switch is flipped at the start of the start of Chapter 4. Prior to that, Jaye's interactions with the MC varied a lot depending on our actions/point totals. But the instant Jaye read about Fiona in the MC's journal (regardless of whether she took that journal in the first place!), Jaye's libido has locked onto the MC like a terminator. :(

I get that Jaye is not your jam.

I have not played the Mallory primary, intentionally reject Jaye, path.

I think that this story is well written for the most likely paths many of the supporters would choose.

I think it would take far too long to develop revs if the dev's were to give equal weight to all paths, regardless of the likelihood of a high percentage of supporters playing certain paths.

It is part of why consigning Jaye to the sea (versus risking your life to save her or call for help) gets a bad ending.

I believe that every 'good' ending in Chasing Sunsets includes the survival of both Alex and Jaye.

I actually liked the Sicily in between moment. This was hinted at during the first full day that Alex and Jaye were on the Yacht and Alex asked to defer talking about that for at least a time. Jaye also found out about this by reading Alex's journals, although he included no details.

I think that the ring is absolutely in character for Jaye and that memory does not include any of the animosity that we can choose to build with Jaye since the parents are dead by the time he has that flashback.

That flashback is about what existed before Alex left (and the impact his choices made on Jaye up through the graduation fight) and there are no hints that Alex renounced his affection/love for Jaye during the visit in Sicily.

What Alex does with the ring now will be based on who we have chosen Alex to be, and who he wants to be with and I am fine with that.
I don't think development time is an acceptable excuse when the devs are the ones who gave us these choices to begin with. They could have made a simpler game (or even a kinetic novel) where the MC pursues Jaye automatically. The devs deliberately chose not to do that, so now it's incumbent on them to flesh out those choices. Personally, I think fleshing out those other options would wind up complementing the main paths; contrasting the Jaye who won over the love of her life with a Jaye who had to "adjust expectations," for example, should make the impact of our choices hit all the harder.

I agree the overall level of content on those paths can be small relative to the main paths, but they still need to deliver something. This is the second time the game literally forgot it was possible to turn down Mallory. That speaks to a serious problem, one that persists even after the specific bugs on Mallory's path have been patched. Sure, the devs can wait for the finale and tie up the orphan paths in a couple of ending slides, but that would be selling the potential of this game very short. I'd hate to see that happen.

He's still banging redheads with green eyes because he's not over Jaye and they remind him of her. Not to mention his "sad eyes" Fiona mentions, is partly due to him missing Jaye(and David and his family). All this is going on right around the time the parents show up to see the MC. It's not insane for the parents to show up and say Jaye has loved you since she was 8, and we knew all along that you loved her too, you aren't fooling anyone, and hand him the ring.

Being that the parents knew all along they also would've known Jaye was only acting the way she did to cover up her real feelings too because (as the next scene with her in the shower after assaulting the MC reveals) she was trying to hide her love and infatuation for the same reason the MC didn't want anyone finding out about his secret love and infatuation. So I don't see the outburst that happened at the graduation also as something to give them pause to fly over and give him the ring to propose to Jaye.

It also follows that the parents also would've been clued in that both were depressed without each other.

I'm more surprised that it took 5 years for James and Sarah to go visit him to give him the ring.

I don't know why I am always amazed when someone chooses paths that are off the main path of the story and then they get upset that it doesn't give them all the options they want.

Whether you want it to happen or not, the intention here is to tell the love story between Jaye and the MC. That IS the story. Just because there are options to romance or have sex with others does not mean that they have now become the story. It is like watching any movie or reading any book and getting mad at the story that is being told because you want the story to be about something else.

Mallory is a main love interest but only in the sense that she augments the love story with Jaye... the open relationship option. Perhaps the viewer prefers Mallory over Jaye. That does not mean that the story needs to change to meet those needs. There is no obligation to fulfill those desires on behalf of the author.

If you make choices that vary too wildly from the main path of the story you get a game over. It is impressive that the author gave the option to go that way, to begin with. That does not mean he has to provide a story that allows you to continue to detour away from his intended story.

Try playing the game down various paths: Mallory only, Jaye only, Both, and Neither. It is great that we have the option to do that. That does not mean, however, that each of those paths will end in a well-rounded, happy-ending story. You will learn that the author has provided an interesting story on each path. And you will also learn that there is an intended path full of rich content. Do this with ANY game. You will see that all games (movies, books, etc.) follow this basic rule.

I personally like doing many paths - I like to see all the work the Dev did and, for better or worse, if they're putting in things to collect, I wanna find them! I don't see why people complain when you can do a dozen or so routes and get all the outcomes. If you're organized about it, save at obvious branch points (Sancho even points them out to you!), and use the skip, it doesn't take that much extra time.

And, yes, I have done the game enders just to get the tag. When I finally play this episode (I have a long backlog...) I'll find the route that causes everyone to get murdered, just so that 'booter can become a terrorist and I get that achievement. ;) (Yeah - people that don't use spoiler suck, but I shouldn't be reading so much, either.)

The one thing I do wish was easier to track down (for the non-Steam version, at least) was a comprehensive list of achievements - the Steam seems to have a list, but the non-Steam hides the overwhelming majority until you trigger them (for the few that may not be aware), but tells you how many you've missed. If there's a clue as to the WHERE, as well, that would be nice. I saved off the screenshots of the Steam list for this release, assuming they'll be the same, but something in game (or maybe a Sancho "peek" mod) would be helpful.

Yes. 0.1 was Prologue and 0.8 is Chapter 7.

This update was more proof that Jaye is the author's favored child while Mallory is the unwanted foster kid.
This is correct, because everyone has said a thousand times that this story is the story of Jaye and MC. NOT Mallory and MC!!! The author is just giving you the option that if you want to love someone else (or just sleep with him), you can do it. I'm not Mallory against, but this story is perfect for me and I only follow Jaye's path, because I care what their fate will be. Of course, everyone has different values regarding girls, because we are not the same. And I'm sorry, but I'm more interested in the ending of childhood love than the cloned one the appearance of my mother. There should be no war, love red-haired women. ;)

I think I remember seeing one of SFS's Q&A videos where they talked about this. They wanted to set up an attraction between Jaye and Alex growing up, but they said they specifically ended the prologue in a way so that Alex's current feelings toward his sister were left ambiguous. By the end of the prologue, Alex and Jaye's relationship is strained almost to the point of breaking... at the same time, he just met a charming woman in Aspen and they both know that they've started catching feelings for each other. So CH1 started in a way that he could continue on with Mallory, rekindle the feelings for his sister, or neither.

So I think it's incorrect to say that CS is the "Alex and Jaye" game. I can see why you'd think that because you "only play the Jaye path". But Mallory is every bit as much of a main LI that Jaye is. Narratively, she's the woman who finally got Alex to overcome his sexual attraction to his sister. What happens after that is completely up to the player's choices.
