That's me, and yeah, everyone else seems like they're actively ignoring the issue whenever it comes up. It feels like screaming into the void.

Speaking of Skummy, how is he by the way? I always felt bad that he basically got used as a meat shield, for Blue and the team. It wasn't even worth it in the end, since Blue & Co seemed to have made no progress.
Got a sever case of disillusion and Social phobia or anxiety from it, I think since he stopped even speaking to me in DMs :HideThePain:
In the end not worth it... but Skummy thought he did the right thing at the time.

in the end there is No news except for a few "blips" in the Github notifications.
that goes for mods and testers as well we have heard nothing since the 22-23 release so there is nothing I can say about the development or how far it is ... if it is moving along :rolleyes:

i mean dev man bad whatever but doing a merge separately isn't "helpful" anyway, as dev man has to do it anyway and they can't just use the fanwork for a wide variety of reasons.

but with the years waiting for nothing it was as breathe of fresh air at the time... my only fear of it was it encouraged patreons 0to continue support (and many still do, that money going to BC even though nothing has substantially happened in years as the renders for days 22-23 were images done before the "merge" started)

Horagen81 thanks for the info dump! It's nice to see the reactions and get some info about what happens in the discord, even though the reaction from BlueCat is very dissapointing.
The part about editing the RenPy core code was made before and sounds pretty implausible. The reason given back then to modify the RenPy code was weird and that one doesn't make it more plausible.
Translations redone? Why not extract them from the game.
But well, if there was a good effort then there would be more progress in the many years of working on it. I see why it is at is though, thanks to your insight.

Not sure if your "helpful" quote is in reference to my post saying it is, it's a matter of perspective.
I certainly didn't imply it was helpful to BlueCat, but to the players wanting to play the game in one go, instead of the confusion seen here with which part is what week etc.
IF the game ever gets back on track and the "official" merge happens then the fan made merge will be obsolete but until then this "helpful to the ones wanting to download only one file" is the way to go.
Hope this clarifies things.

Damn, that sucks. Hopefully stepping away from it all does him some good. I appreciate you coming on here yourself to clarify some things either way.

Yeah I hope Skummy will be able to get back to the way he/she was before being "pushed" into the PR job. :giggle:

Haha I am not sure if I manage to clarify anything with my Dyslexia :LOL: Still I felt it was the right thing to do :) and sometimes it is easier to speak without the "constraint" of being a mod :rolleyes:
though that is not to say that BlueCat have any hold on me... it is more myself and how I think a mod should be :ROFLMAO:

Now that looks pretty bad D4 and D1 changes i know but that is just BlueCat jumping back and forth because there have been many other D# changes other times, And Also that bot fails more times then I have been able to count so do not be "too" discourages at least :KEK:

The worst part in those github updates when I saw them was knowing I would've already been done converting the whole script to use those changes :HideThePain:. It's a waste of time though, the script already worked fine and didn't need those changes because the only "real" change needed (debatable) was swapping the save variable that don't affect making changes like that. In fact, doing those changes just breaks more things - like translations for example, so it give you a bit extra work.

Every translation versions is double the work for a dev.... why wasting so much time and resources.

I wouldn't say it's really double the work, especially if you're using translation a software/website so you're only really copying the lines into it and pasting the new result into a dedicated translation file for renpy. It's not like you have to rescript a separate script day file, or even come close to rewriting it into a new language when you use these tools.

We debated this a while ago here, and it seemed BlueCat agreed in the end that using an automated translation tool was far easier and significantly faster (Also saves money paying someone as much).

I used DeepL for the translations I needed to do for my merge since it was missing a bunch of translations as I re-added the broken features. I would say in my experience using this since I don't know German and therefore don't know the "exact" original but 95%+ of what it translated into English seemed pretty on point, and a large portion of that remaining 5% I only changed because I wanted to keep it consistent with the other translations even though I thought they were worse 99% of the time after seeing the DeepL version.

These "better" translations in my opinion had a problem though, it would make the text not line up to the game's UI in things like the Calendar so that was also another reason for keeping it consistent with previous translations already done since it did fit into the UI properly. (Please change the UI.)

I thought most devs just did their native tongue and english leaving any tertiary languages to fanbase mods....
Well there is 11 languages .... but not sure how many have been implemented beside English and German.
I know Portoguese was in the process of being implimented a year ago but the translater bailed after gotten paid from what i know.
then there is Russian , South Korean , Japanese , Chinese , and ... I can not really remember what else I was told.
the people working on the translation stopped usually after a week of work and never returned from what I saw in the development channel.

yeah using automated Translation was a good change of heart that way he does not need to rely on other people or have to pay them.

Okay double work might be an over-statement then :unsure: I really should not compare it to what i know from my time since it is old knowledge and is faster nowadays :ROFLMAO: So many IF and While that i am sick of thinking of them :LOL:
though it is my fault because I see anything beside the minimum needed to be wasted work like the "planned" sandbox and extra languages to be waste of time that could be spent on working on the merger and that is on me :LOL:

Never heard of DeepL I usually use ATLAS for my translation needs but i will give it a look next time I am going to play "Love Love my Buddy X" and see if it can work :LOL:(y)

seems like Renpy and many of the newer programming tools are alot easier to used then the old shite i have around from my time ... but then I have not felt the need to make anything for a while now not since I worked on the firewall and antivirus scanner for Bullguard some years ago *may they rest in piece now that Norton bought them out.*

Probably a dead game. No updates on patreon since Oct. On discord they said the merge would be done no later then Jan. Since then nothing has been said or done it would seem. Only thing that goes on in discord is a cult that sends hugging gifs to each other. I wouldn't expect anything to come out of this game.
Shame!! I was really looking forward to have some content with that blind girl (forgot her name) :(
